Very flexible and considerate of your requirements
We booked our safari through Akondo Adventures for our honeymoon. From the very beginning they were very flexible in accomodating our trip requirements and accomodations, we were after. Communication was prompt and they were flexible with phone calls, noting the time difference.
Some of the hotels which were booked for us were absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views and the tent escape we had in Serengeti definitely felt like being immersed in nature.
Unfortunely on the trip we fell unwell, however Akondo Adventures adjusted our itinerary and managed accomodations for us on a very last minute basis and we are so grateful for Tassiana and Boris for being so helpful and considerate.
Our safari driver Julius, was incredibly kind, thoughtful and very knowledgeable about the geography and animals.
We would definitely recommend booking through Akondo Adventures!
Exceptional guide, seamless planning, and once-in-a-lifetime Serengeti wildlife encounters
Akondo Adventures exceeded every expectation for our Tanzania safari. Communication was excellent from the start — quick replies to every message, and a WhatsApp video call with Philip before booking, who organised our whole trip. He was fantastic to deal with, patient with all our questions, and put together an itinerary that delivered everything we hoped for. That early conversation gave us real confidence going in, and it was fully justified.
Our guide, Richard, made the whole trip. With 8 years of training as a safari guide, his knowledge was extraordinary — he could tell us the behaviour, distinguishing features, and fascinating stories behind almost every animal we saw, from hyenas and giraffes to secretary birds and lions. His respect and love for nature was obvious in everything he did. His eyesight was remarkable too — spotting animals we couldn’t even find with binoculars. He knew exactly where and when to position the vehicle, which meant we didn’t just tick off the Big Five — we saw cheetahs and lion cubs up close, a lion chasing buffalo, and he made sure we witnessed the wildebeest river crossing, which was truly out of this world. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, washed daily.
Richard also introduced us to the Maasai way of life, which was an unbelievably amazing experience. We visited a Maasai village, wore their traditional costumes, joined in their welcome dancing, and saw inside their mud huts to understand how they actually live. It was a real highlight and gave us a whole different perspective on the trip.
It even started before the trip properly began: on arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, the immigration officer recognised Akondo Adventures by name and welcomed us warmly to Tanzania.
Every park delivered something special. At Tarangire, a leopard walked right past our vehicle and we watched giraffes fighting. Ngorongoro Crater gave us rhinos, flamingos, lions and huge concentrations of wildlife in one place. Serengeti National Park brought more cheetahs, lions with cubs, elephants, zebras and gazelles against classic acacia backdrops, while Northern Serengeti delivered the spectacular river crossing. We also took a hot air balloon ride with an experienced Spanish pilot, Abraham, giving us stunning views over the Mara River and savanna.
The accommodation was fabulous throughout — staff were incredibly helpful and the food was tasty everywhere we stayed. An added thrill was that animals came right up to the tents at night; hyenas even visited at midnight, which was surprising at first, but they’re naturally wary of people, so it was actually exciting to be that close to them. Clean water and toilets were never an issue either, even deep in the parks.
Huge thanks to Richard for making it unforgettable and to Philip for organising such a seamless trip. Outstanding value, reliability and expertise — highly recommended.
IT
Richard is that rare guide who combines professionalism with humor, courtesy with genuine optimism.
This was a proposal journey, and Akondo helped my boyfriend prepare every single surprise — it was absolutely perfect. Our experience exceeded every expectation. A special thank you to our guide, Richard, whose incredible professionalism made our safari truly flawless.
Very organised and great communication!
From the moment we booked with Akondo, the communication and organisation of the trip was exceptional. Any questions we had were answered promptly and they listened to everything we wanted within our package. Once we arrived in the Serengeti, we were greeted by our extremely knowledgeable and friendly safari guide Richard. He made our trip so enjoyable and we were able to capture images and videos which we will cherish forever thanks to him. His English was brilliant and he had a great understanding of the game drives and where the likely place would be to spot specific animals. He also made sure we arrived at our lodges with enough time to fully enjoy them after each day on the safari. Thank you Richard and Akondo Adventures for a perfect honeymoon trip!
Amazing. Great service.
We booked with Akondo where immediately Tassiana worked closely with us to ensure we booked exactly what we wanted. She took the time to create several different itinerary’s before confirming the final one.
All transfers were arranged and everything was smooth without issues. Our safari guide Richard was the best and answered any questions we had about the animals we saw. He had an incredible ability to put the safari truck in the right place to view animals within meters and often predicted where they would walk putting us right in-front of the wildlife for an amazing experience. He even got us to see three leopards in one day!
They also booked the second half of our trip in Zanzibar where again nothing has disappointed. We feel the price paid has been well worth the service we have been provided and a trip that is truly memorable. If you want an incredible safari trip then look no further than Akondo! Highly recommended.
