A Journey of Wildlife and Culture
Our safari with Tanzania Memories was not only about animals, it was about understanding Tanzania as a whole.
Yes, we saw incredible wildlife: massive elephant herds in Tarangire, a black rhino in the Ngorongoro Crater, and countless lions in the Serengeti. But what truly stayed with us was the cultural connection.
Visiting a Maasai community and learning about traditions, family life, and ceremonies added a human dimension to the experience. It was respectful and genuine, not staged or commercialized.
Evenings around the campfire were filled with stories about conservation, history, and daily life in Tanzania. We felt like guests, not tourists.
This trip changed the way we see travel. It reminded us that responsible tourism matters.

An Experience Beyond Anything We Imagined
If you are considering a safari in Tanzania, stop searching and book with Tanzania Memories Tours & Safaris. It was, without question, one of the most powerful travel experiences of our lives.
From our first inquiry, everything felt personal and thoughtful. The team listened carefully to what we hoped to see and crafted an itinerary through Tarangire, Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater that felt perfectly balanced adventure, wildlife, culture, and rest.
Our guide had an almost unbelievable instinct for wildlife. We witnessed a leopard descending from an acacia tree at sunrise, a herd of elephants crossing the road just meters from our vehicle, and an entire pride of lions lounging in golden afternoon light. But beyond the sightings, it was the explanations - the stories behind behaviors, the ecosystem dynamics, the conservation efforts - that made it meaningful.
What impressed us most was the ethical approach. There was never any reckless driving or crowding animals. We felt safe and reassured knowing the wildlife’s wellbeing came first.
Tanzania Memories doesn’t just deliver a safari - they deliver perspective, connection, and memories that stay with you forever.

If you are looking for a trip of a lifetime look no further, this is it.
What an amazing experience, truly a trip of a lifetime. I've traveled to many countries over the years and have had many guides and I can honestly say Richard is at the top. He makes you feel welcome, comfortable and appreciated. His knowledge of the local culture, traditions and wildlife is second to none. He is amazing at spotting wildlife big or small. Part way through our trip our safari jeep needed some repairs which Richard performed himself after he left us for the evening. He worked late into the night making sure the jeep was in tip top shape for our next days journey. He is such pleasant person to spend our time with in Tanzania.
This was my second time in Tanzania and I will definitely be back. Richard with out a doubt will be the first person I will contact to book my trip. It's been several years since our trip and I'm still in contact with Richard hearing all about his lovely family especially his 2 beautiful young children.
You are definitely making the right choice in choosing Tanzania Memories Tours and Safaris. Guaranteed you won't be disappointed. This will be your trip of a lifetime.

A Safari Experience You Can Trust
If you’re planning a safari in Tanzania and want an experience that is ethical, safe, and truly unforgettable, I cannot recommend Tanzania Memories and its founder, Richard Moshi, highly enough. If I could add more stars I would! Absolutely the best trip of my life so far.
I travelled through Tanzania in August 2022, and Richard was our guide throughout Tarangire, the Central and Northern Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara. The trip was extraordinary — not just because of the wildlife, but because of the way Richard guided us through it.
Richard has an exceptional ability to read the land, the animals, and the moment. He consistently spotted wildlife long before anyone else — lions hidden in kopjes, leopards draped over branches, cheetahs stalking in the grass, and even tiny creatures like dik-diks and hyraxes. His knowledge of animal behaviour meant we were always in the right place at the right time, whether it was watching a pride of 16 lions feeding on a Cape Buffalo, witnessing a lioness take down a gazelle, or experiencing the Wildebeest Migration at the Mara River with multiple dramatic crossings.
What sets Richard apart is his integrity. At the Mara River, where dozens of safari trucks surged forward the moment the first wildebeest stepped into the water, Richard refused to break park rules or cut others off. He navigated the chaos with calm professionalism, ensuring we had a front‑row view without compromising safety or ethics. His respect for wildlife and the environment is unwavering, and that respect is reflected in the values of Tanzania Memories.
But the moment that truly showed me who Richard is — not just as a guide, but as a person — happened far from the Serengeti. We stayed at The Original Maasai Lodge, a community‑run lodge near Mount Kilimanjaro. By sheer luck, we arrived on the first day of a once‑every‑14‑years Maasai ceremony — a rite of passage so rare that even many Maasai women had never witnessed it. Richard had never seen it either. Watching him experience this extraordinary cultural moment alongside us — asking questions, learning, smiling, and sharing in the awe — added a depth to our trip that I will never forget.
He wasn’t just our guide that day.
He was our companion in a moment of pure, unexpected magic.
Richard is also simply a wonderful person. He made us feel safe, welcomed, and cared for every single day. His kindness and humour added so much joy to the experience. We’ve stayed in touch ever since — a testament to the kind of relationships he builds with his guests.
If you are travelling from Canada (or anywhere in the world) and want a safari experience that is personal, meaningful, and guided by someone you can trust completely, book with Tanzania Memories and ask for Richard Moshi. He is the heart of the company, and he will give you a safari you will remember for the rest of your life.

Richard was the absolute best and we could have not asked for a better Safari experience.
Life-changing. Unforgettable. I simply can't say enough.
My wife and I chose to fulfill a lifelong dream of going on an African Safari for our honeymoon and all our expectations and hopes were not only met but far exceeded. We originally had looked into using a Western tour company, however were advised by friends to work with locals as to better support the domestic economy- and we were so happy with our decision.
From the moment we began booking- the process was easy, informative, and very secure. We were guided towards a tour, region and amount of time that best suited our interests and budget, and were provided a level of familiarity with the country that the non-Tanzanian companies we spoke to simply did not have.
Then when we finally arrived- that's where the fun really began. We could not have asked for a better time in Tanzania, and it was all due to the wonderful and thoughtful hard work put in by our guide Richard. He took great care of us from the moment we met, and made sure that our every need, wish and interest were addressed. Richard is so clearly passionate about wildlife and what he does- and because of his expertise and knowledge we were able to see all of the Big 5, the Great Migration Wildebeest crossing across the Mara river, as well as tons of other animals moving about in their natural habitat.
Richard always seemed to know exactly where to go, and could answer any question we had both about the animals as well as the local culture. Furthermore he made sure we were comfortable and happy as we celebrated our honeymoon- and most importantly he was personable, friendly and deeply kind. In the end, we felt that not only did we experience an unforgettable vacation, but that we also left with a dear new friend.
So thank you so much Richard for one of the most incredible trips of our lives!
If anyone is considering a Tanzanian Safari- Richard is the one!

Another Wonderful Safari with Richard
The Serengeti is one of my favorite places on earth. Every time I return, I see something new — and with Richard, I always learn something as well. He is the most amazing guide. His patience, knowledge, and attention to detail are more than anyone could ask for.
I have Chronic Fatigue and was having an episode on this trip. Richard took extra care of me, looked after my every need, and made the journey truly easy and memorable.
There were so many highlights, I hardly know where to begin. We saw more lions than any of us could count — mating, playing, eating (a large zebra), and drinking from a river. Truly magnificent animals. Our main goal was to witness the wildebeest crossing, and we were not disappointed. Watching them suddenly leap into the Mara River is something I will never forget.
Even the quieter moments — watching birds through binoculars or sitting by the fire after dinner — felt special. The Secretary Bird became our constant companion, appearing almost everywhere we looked. I have so many favorite birds now!
The camps were comfortable and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. The food was always delicious, and the facilities perfect for the bush.
It was another unforgettable trip, filled with beauty, laughter, and the rhythm of the wild.
So, Richard — you promised to start planning our next trip right away. I can’t wait! Thank you again for another perfect safari — and until next time.

Another Great Adventure with Richard
The allure of the Serengeti - the silhouette of an Acacia tree against the persimmon streaked sky, the resonant growl of the lion, the whoops of the hyenas that are close to camp, the wildebeests amassing on the shoreline of the Mara River, waiting for instinct to trigger the crossing, leaping into the air and into the water, basculating to find the shoreline and greener pastures, the last migrateur becoming the herd’s sacrifice to a croc in this circle of life. We witnessed it all on this trip !
This is my third safari with Richard, and it only gets better each time. With patience, we witnessed a clash between two male elephants, a tussle for dominance between two giraffes, a pride of lions dining, en famille, on a zebra, and even spotted a shy Serval in the grass. And birds were all part of this fabulous trip, when the animals were hiding from us, we had birds to identify ! For some reason, the Secretary Bird kept appearing in our binoculars, and it was always a wonderful presentation to watch !!
I was very pleased with our accommodations, where we were always welcomed and made to feel at home.
I felt comfortable asking Richard questions in my outside classroom, he answered all of my questions, giving me a better understanding of animal and bird behavior in the Serengeti.
Asante sana Richard for the wonderful memories ! I will be back, for sure !

With Richard leading the way every game drive was filled with wonder, laughter & discovery! EPIC!
We were so lucky to have Richard as our guide on our safari through Tanzania: Arusha, Tarangire National Park, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Eyasi. From start to finish, he went above and beyond to make our trip unforgettable.
Richard knows the animals, landscapes, and local culture inside out. I had loads of curious questions, and he genuinely answered every single one with patience and enthusiasm. He always made sure we were safe and comfortable, which made the whole experience completely stress-free.
His care, dedication, and thoughtfulness really stood out. He made sure we saw all of the Big Five and helped us experience the culture of local tribes in a meaningful and respectful way. His passion for wildlife and the region was contagious, it made every moment more special.
We honestly can’t recommend Richard enough. He didn’t just guide us on a safari; he made it a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and is definitely the best of the best!

The trip of a lifetime!
We had the trip of a lifetime in Tanzania with Richard! We explored Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater, witnessed the great wildebeest migration, and even visited the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. Richard took such amazing care of us and was incredibly knowledgeable about all the animals, especially the birds. He could spot wildlife from miles away!
He always seemed to know exactly where to find the animals, and I’ve never seen so many in one place before. Some unforgettable moments included a lion peeing on a car and watching huge herds of elephants cross right in front of us after Richard told us to wait patiently. Camping felt like a real adventure too, with elephants and zebras wandering (and hyena and lion noises lol) near camp at night.
The car was spotless every day, super comfortable, and always in perfect condition. Everything was so well planned from start to finish. Richard is our friend now, and we truly hope he can visit us in Canada someday!
