Wonderful experience in Northern Ethiopia with a professional and caring team
Our journey through Ethiopia with Ethio Top Land Tours was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Ethiopia is such a fascinating country, and having such a reliable local company organising the journey allowed us to relax and really enjoy everything we were seeing.
We travelled through very different parts of northern Ethiopia, from the spectacular scenery of the Simien Mountains to the castles of Gondar, ancient Axum, the extraordinary churches of Tigray and Lalibela, before finishing in Addis Ababa. The itinerary was thoughtfully planned, and we were very happy with the standard of the hotels and the restaurants recommended along the way.
A special thank you must go to our guide Desale, who looked after us so well throughout the trip. He was kind, patient and always attentive to what we needed. Travelling with someone who knows the country so personally made a huge difference, and his warmth and enthusiasm made even the long journeys enjoyable. He was also always there to help with practical things, including carrying and helping us with our luggage throughout the trip, which we really appreciated.
I was particularly impressed by how dependable the company was when things did not go according to plan. Bad weather caused unexpected changes to several of our domestic flights, but the team quickly found alternatives and adapted our schedule without us losing any of the important experiences we had travelled to Ethiopia for. They were even willing to cover the additional costs caused by these changes themselves, despite the circumstances being completely outside their control. It gave us great confidence knowing there was always someone taking care of the details.
The tour was also very good value for money. Everything that had been agreed was included in the price, with no hidden costs or unexpected charges, so we always knew exactly what we were paying for.
We came away with some wonderful memories and a much deeper appreciation of Ethiopia. A caring, dependable and very professional team that I would happily travel with again. Highly recommended.

An unforgettable journey through Ethiopia with an exceptional guide
We had an incredible 7-day trip with Ethio Top Land Tours, covering the Simien Mountains, Gondar, Axum, the rock-hewn churches of Tigray, Lalibela and Addis Ababa. It was an ambitious itinerary, but everything was extremely well organised and we were amazed by how much we were able to experience in just one week.
Our guide Desale was one of the highlights of the trip. His knowledge of Ethiopian history and culture is excellent, but what we appreciated most was how much local insight he brought to every place we visited. He was always happy to explain things, introduce us to people and help us understand the country beyond the main sights. He even took us to his own village, which was a really special experience and gave us a glimpse of everyday Ethiopian life that we would never have found on our own.
The organisation behind the scenes was equally impressive. Weather caused several last-minute flight changes during our trip, but the company and manager handled everything immediately, adjusting hotels, transport and sightseeing so that we still managed to complete the entire itinerary. We never had to deal with the stress ourselves.
Great hotels and restaurant choices, excellent local knowledge and a team that genuinely knows how to look after its guests. Professional, trustworthy and flexible — I would highly recommend Ethio Top Land Tours.

I never felt alone: an unforgettable 10 days Ethiopian journey
I was traveling alone as a female traveler, so before the trip I was a little bit scared and nervous. But honestly, after meeting my guide Mente and driver Abel, I quickly forgot about those worries. They were both outstanding and treated me very well throughout the whole trip. I never felt like I was traveling alone.
I did a 10-day tour covering Lalibela, Danakil Depression and Omo Valley, and every place was completely different and unforgettable. I never imagined Ethiopia could have such amazing and unique tours.
Lalibela was especially incredible. It really felt like another world, and I am very lucky that I had the chance to visit it. Danakil was also an amazing experience; with landscapes I had never seen before. I especially enjoyed the Omo Valley because of the culture and the different tribes. Their traditions, languages, food and way of life are so unique. I enjoyed asking Mente many questions and learning about how people live there. Even the local drinks made from sorghum or barley were interesting to experience and learn about.
Another thing I really loved was the people. Everywhere we went, people were very kind and welcoming to tourists. I felt comfortable and welcomed throughout my journey.
Actually, I enjoyed my time in Ethiopia more than the three months I spent in another African country. Ethiopia really surprised me, and I will always remember these 10 days.

Exceptional Service, Outstanding Itinerary, Lifetime Memories
Before traveling to Ethiopia, we contacted three different tour companies to arrange a 21-day trip covering the country's main highlights. Excellent tour guide + driver, well worth every penny!
I had one full day in Addis Ababa before flying on to Cape Town, so I decided to book this tour to make the most of my short stay. It turned out to be an excellent decision.
My guide, Lamesgn, and driver, Eshetu, picked me up from Hotel Lobelia in Bole promptly in the morning. As it was low season, I ended up being the only guest on the tour, which made the experience feel very personal and relaxed.
Our first stop was a traditional coffee house where I saw coffee beans being roasted for the first time. I was amazed to discover that coffee beans start off greenish rather than brown! The hostess also burned frankincense, whose aroma mingled with the coffee and created a wonderful atmosphere.
Next came Mercato, the sprawling market district. I quickly realised why having a guide was essential here. Lamesgn explained the history of the area, including the Italian influence behind the name "Mercato", and helped me navigate what would otherwise have been an overwhelming maze of shops and street sellers.
We then visited the National Museum of Ethiopia, where I saw Lucy. It is hard to describe the feeling of standing in front of remains that are around 3.2 million years old. It was genuinely humbling and one of the highlights of my trip.
Afterwards, we went to Entoto Park, where there are wonderful views overlooking Addis Ababa. It was fascinating hearing about the city, its seasons and daily life while looking out across the capital.
The entire day felt very well paced, with enough time at each stop and no feeling of being rushed.
I would especially like to thank Lamesgn for his excellent local knowledge, clear explanations and warm personality. He was informative throughout the day but also friendly and easy to talk to, which made the experience feel much more personal. Eshetu was an excellent driver, navigating Addis traffic with complete calm and reliability, and he was chatty and engaging whenever the opportunity arose. Together they made my short stay in Addis Ababa far richer and more memorable than I had expected.

Trust, Professionalism, and an Amazing Ethiopian Adventure
I had an unforgettable experience traveling with Ethio Top Land Tours. As a solo traveler, I faced difficulties making advance payments because international bank transfers are very complicated in my country. When I explained my situation to Lamesgn, the owner, he showed incredible trust and kindness by confirming my booking and allowing me to pay the full tour cost upon arrival in Ethiopia.
During my two-month journey across Africa, I also encountered problems paying visa fees for Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda. Over the next 13 days, I visited incredible destinations including Lalibela, Abune Yemata, and the Omo Valley. Every part of the trip was perfectly organized, and the experiences were truly unforgettable.
The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing Ethiopia’s history, culture, and traditions. The landscapes, ancient churches, tribal communities, and cultural experiences exceeded all my expectations.
To make the experience even more special, the team invited me to a farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant before my departure. It was the perfect ending to an amazing journey.

I am visiting Ethiopia for the second time, and once again I am deeply impressed by this beautiful country. Last year I traveled solo through the southern part of Ethiopia, and this year I returned with my family for a two-week journey covering Bahir Dar, Gondar, Simien Mountains, Lalibela, and the Danakil Depression.
We had an unforgettable experience. Everything was well organized and ran smoothly from start to finish. I would especially like to thank you Lamesgn for arranging such a professional itinerary. Last year before the trip, I compared several tour operators, but none of them were as well prepared and detailed as his plan. It was clear that a lot of thought and care went into every part of the journey.

Well organized and efficient tour of Addis Abeba
I had a really nice and efficient tour of Addis Ababa, which gave me a great overview of the city in a short time.
I also really enjoyed exploring the Entoto Maryam Church and the former palace of Emperor Menelik II. Both places are rich in history and offer a deeper understanding of Ethiopia’s cultural and royal heritage, with beautiful surroundings that make the visit even more special.
My absolute favorite moment, though, was tasting Ethiopian coffee. It was truly delicious and such a unique experience—rich, aromatic, and prepared with great care. Overall, a well-organized tour that combines culture, history, and local traditions in a very enjoyable way.
