Incredible safari with a superb company
I joined an eight-day safari with Apodiformes Adventures, with an additional two nights in Nairobi, one before and one after the safari, and I had an excellent experience from start to finish.
Silas, the owner of the company, was incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. He answered all my questions promptly, no matter what time of the day it was. I also had the pleasure of meeting him in person, and he is a very charismatic, friendly, and welcoming person.
Kevin was our safari driver and guide for the entire eight days, and it was an absolute pleasure having him with us. He was polite, patient, extremely knowledgeable. And my God, he has incredible vision! I always said he has “Eagle Eyes” because he could spot animals from unbelievably far away. Even at a great distance, he could tell us what animal it was, whether it was male or female, what species it was, and so much more. His knowledge of the wildlife was truly extensive.
Most importantly, Kevin seemed to have an internal GPS in his head. He knew exactly how to navigate the parks and where to look for different animals. Thanks to him, we managed to see more than 30 lions in different groups and locations, dozens of hippos, one very rare leopard, a cheetah, and countless zebras, gazelles, giraffes, and many, many other animals.
The hotels and safari lodges selected for us were also excellent. The accommodation was very comfortable, the service was very good, and the food was delicious throughout the trip.
Overall, we had a fantastic safari experience, and I would recommend Apodiformes Adventures to anyone planning a safari in Kenya.
A luxury safari experience
I’d introduce them clearly the first time they’re mentioned — Stephen as your **booking/contact person** and Songe as your **driver-guide throughout the safari**.
We had the most amazing safari and honestly couldn’t recommend the experience enough. It really did feel like a once-in-a-lifetime trip and we loved every minute of it.
Stephen, who organised our trip and was our main contact during the booking process, was brilliant from the start — really responsive, answered all of our (many!) questions and was happy to adapt the itinerary for us. We really wanted to visit The Ark in Aberdare and he was able to work this into our trip. We’d compared the cost of the package with booking the hotels and everything ourselves and felt it was really good value too.
All of the hotels were absolutely stunning and really close to the parks, so it felt like we got to soak up every minute of being on safari. Sleeping in luxury safari tents with wildlife close by, eating dinner overlooking the bush and having a sundowner in the Maasai Mara were such special experiences and exactly what we’d hoped for from the trip.
We’re both vegan and had been slightly worried about food before we went, but we really didn’t need to be! We ate incredibly well throughout the whole safari and every hotel catered for us. Songe, our driver-guide for the safari, was also great at making sure our dietary requirements were communicated everywhere we stayed.
Songe was absolutely fantastic. We felt really safe with him, he knew so much about the parks and animals and was always really clear about what we were doing and the plans for each day. From the beginning he told us to just ask whenever we wanted to stop for a photo or had a question, and we never once felt rushed. He genuinely seemed to care about us having the best possible experience and went out of his way to make sure we got as much as possible from every game drive.
We had a brief issue with the car on one of the days, but it was dealt with so well that it barely affected us. Another driver from the company took us with their group so we didn’t miss out on any of the game drive, and Songe picked us back up an hour or two later once everything was sorted.
The whole trip was just incredible — the wildlife, the places we stayed, the food, the scenery and all the little experiences along the way. Having everything organised for us meant we could completely switch off and just enjoy being there. We came away feeling like we’d really made the most of every single day and had the safari experience we’d dreamed of. An unforgettable trip!

The guide was great, and the grassland was vast. Our safari in Kenya was amazing! The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We saw lots of wild animals. The vast grassland scenery was breathtaking. Highly recommend this wonderful trip.

Bait and Switch Company
My wife and I booked the 12-day East Africa Bush Expedition Kenya & Tanzania. We thought the marketed itinerary and hotel accommodations Apodiformes listed on Safari Bookings was what we're going to get. Well, that wasn't the case. Silas sent over a PDF of an itinerary saying, "As per your request, kindly see attached itinerary for your consideration". I assumed the itinerary Silas sent would be the same as listed on Safari Bookings. It was not. They changed accommodations that were not nearly as nice and much further away. Lesson learned!
Two of the three driver/guides were nothing more than a taxi driver. Silas even said to us upon departure he only has one driver/guide because if there's two, they end up talking to each other and not the customers. Well, while in the Mara for 2.5 days, our driver/guide had a trainee. The driver/guide talked to the trainee more than us.
Some of the game drives call for full-day drives but only lasted a half day.
The jeep had a mechanical issue that needed fixing. So, the morning we were to do a full-day game drive in Ngorongoro Crater our driver/guide sent a couple texts that were short and rude. At first, it was I'll be late, then it turned into a substitute coming to take us on the game drive. Long story short, after keeping us waiting in the lobby for hours, the substitute picked us up and we did a game drive for UNDER 2 hours!
The last accommodation was rated a 7.2 on Tripadvisor. The "new itinerary" had us here for 2 nights. It was so bad we considered ending the expedition early.
Silas contacted me months before the expedition requesting $3,000 that was not due until arrival. This was on top of the $3,784 deposit already paid. He said big company's purchase blocks of rooms at hotels and lodges and the $3,000 would ensure reservations. Most of the accommodations where we stayed had vacancies and the $3,784 would have easily paid all of the accommodations. So, in my opinion, this was Silas' way of squeezing a larger deposit out of us.
Overall, we would not recommend Apodiformes as a tour company. If you do use them, double check the "final" itinerary and make sure the quality of accommodations are to your satisfaction and not 2.5 hours away.

Allow me to help our clients understand something you might not have put clear about your package.
First of all you did not book or send us an enquiry through the Safaribookings platform (https://www.safaribookings.com/).
You saw our Tours on the Company website and contacted us. The tours we have uploaded on Safaribookings are not the same as the tours on our Company Website and they keep changing depending on our monthly internal market research.
There is also a big difference considering the advertisement costs on SafariBookings. It is therefore not practical for you to compare the tour you purchased through our Company website to the Tours we advertise on Safaribookings. Atleast you should have informed us that you wanted the exact tour advertised on Safaribookings instead of the one on our Company website.

We had the most incredible safari experience with Apodiformes Adventures! From the planning stage, Syprose in the office was so helpful and made sure everything was organized around our honeymoon. She really listened to what we wanted and helped create an experience that felt completely tailored to us.
Our guide Sebastian was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and had an amazing eye for spotting animals. He managed to find every animal we were hoping to see, and he took the time to give us detailed information about the wildlife and everything happening around us. We learned so much while having an amazing time.

What an amazing safari experience with Apodiformes Adventures! We booked our safari as part of our honeymoon, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. Our guide Sebastian was the highlight of the safari. He was exceptional at finding wildlife and seemed to know exactly where to look — we were lucky enough to see all the animals we had hoped for and so much more. He was also extremely knowledgeable and detailed, taking the time to explain what we were seeing and answer all our questions. His passion and expertise really made the experience come alive.

Personalized Safari and Travel Service with Great Customer Service
I had a great experience with Adipoformes from beginning to end. I received safari quotes from several different vendors, but Syprose was by far the most responsive and collaborative person I worked with. We wanted guidance, but we also wanted the flexibility to customize our itinerary, and Syprose did an excellent job of understanding what was important to us and tailoring our different stays accordingly.
Our itinerary included two days in Amboseli, two days in the Masai Mara, one day in Lake Nakuru, and one day in Naivasha. Adipoformes arranged everything from airport pickup when we landed in Nairobi to our final airport drop-off when we departed. After researching many different hotels and camps, we settled on some of the best places I have stayed in during all my years of traveling. Syprose provided a clear itinerary that included our daily activities, accommodations, pictures, and transportation details, which became the cornerstone of our safari. I also worked with Syprose to upgrade several of our accommodations, and that was one of the best decisions we made—the places we stayed exceeded our expectations.
When we arrived in Nairobi, we met with Silas to complete our payment. He was very flexible and came to our hotel to meet us. I was initially a little concerned about making the final payment in cash, so I opted to pay by credit card despite the 4.5% surcharge. In hindsight, I probably would have been more comfortable simply doing a wire transfer.
We first flew to Amboseli, where our safari driver and guide, Songes, picked us up. We spent the next seven days with him, and he eventually dropped us off at the airport for our flight home.
From the very beginning, Songes demonstrated his experience and knowledge of the parks. He knew Amboseli extremely well and was familiar with many of the other drivers and park rangers, which helped him quickly identify where animals were being sighted. Starting our trip in Amboseli was a great decision because we saw many of the common animals in abundance—zebras, elephants, giraffes, wildebeest, and more. That allowed us to focus more on the big cats—lions, cheetahs, and even a leopard—during the rest of our trip.
In Amboseli, Songes showed us a pride of lions with cubs on both days. One of the highlights of the entire trip was when he spotted a cheetah just before it began a hunt. He quickly alerted other drivers and the ranger, and within minutes there were approximately 50 vehicles gathered. We spent two to three hours following the cheetah and were fortunate enough to watch it successfully hunt and capture a gazelle. It was an incredible experience.
Songes was also very mild-mannered and easygoing, which made the entire trip relaxing. He never made us feel rushed or stressed. He customized our days around what we wanted to do—sometimes we were tired and simply wanted to relax—and he was always willing to stop whenever I wanted to take pictures. Having our own vehicle and guide meant that we didn't have to follow anyone else's schedule. We had the flexibility to spend more time when something interesting was happening, take breaks when we wanted, and even sleep in one morning.
Over the course of the trip, Songes helped us see all of the Big Five, as well as multiple prides and groups of lions across Amboseli, the Masai Mara, and Lake Nakuru. His experience and knowledge made a big difference in the quality of our safari.
Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend Adipoformes to anyone planning a safari in Kenya.
There are a few things I would mention for both the company and future travelers. The vehicle we used was somewhat older than some of the other vehicles we saw during the trip. My recommendation to Adipoformes would be to consider upgrading the vehicles, as that would make an already great experience even better.
For travelers, I recommend bringing clean clothes for each day and taking advantage of laundry services whenever possible. The parks can be very dusty! I also wish I had brought a buff or similar covering for my mouth and nose.
We also did a hot-air balloon ride in the Masai Mara. While it was a nice experience, I found it somewhat underwhelming and, in hindsight, probably would have skipped it.
One of the best decisions we made was flying from Nairobi to Amboseli and then from Amboseli to the Masai Mara. It allowed us to spend our time enjoying the parks and accommodations rather than spending eight or nine hours driving between destinations. It added approximately $500 per person to the trip, but for us, it was absolutely worth the additional cost.
Overall, Adipoformes, Syprose, Silas, and especially Songes made this an unforgettable trip. I would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a personalized, flexible, and well-organized Kenyan safari.

Fantastic guided tour with Sebastian

Great safari experience. Peter was super helpful with booking everything and helping us tailor the safari experience to our needs. Sebastian has been a wonderful tour guide. He's been able to take us to see many animals, including a black rhino!
