A Grand Dream Dashed
Exploring the Serengeti is a rare opportunity—a once-in-a-lifetime experience for anyone. I am writing this review in the hope that no one else falls victim to the same experience I did.
The consultation with the Mountain Warriors staff was prompt and courteous. However, the guide they assigned to us was the problem. Now that the trip is over, I am more convinced than ever that the quality of the guide is the single most important factor in a safari tour. Let me be clear: the guide provided by Mountain Warriors was the absolute worst.
He caused trouble right from day one. He disregarded our itinerary; despite the fact that we had already paid for specific accommodations, he tried to take us to a completely different, unsuitable place. Even though we were in the middle of the savanna with a poor signal, I managed to contact the Mountain Warriors staff to challenge this. Yet, he insisted on taking us to that strange location anyway. It was only after we lodged a strong protest that he finally drove us to our originally scheduled accommodation.
On the second day, during our game drive in Central Serengeti, we failed to see a *single* predator—this in an area known for having the highest concentration of predators. It was a disaster. The guide did not use any radio communication equipment provided in the vehicle. He seemed unable to communicate with the other guides at all. He only interacted with other guides when they stopped a passing vehicle to ask for directions; in other words, he was completely unfamiliar with the geography of the Serengeti.
The worst incident occurred during a game drive in Ngorongoro. Using binoculars, I spotted a spot in the distance where a multitude of vehicles had created a traffic jam. I used my camera’s 100x zoom to capture the scene and showed it to him, saying, "Something is happening over there; let's go." He dismissed it, claiming, "They’re just looking at flamingos." I was dumbfounded. Would so many cars really gather just to see flamingos, which are abundant everywhere? It didn't take long to confirm I was right. After constantly seeing common animals like zebras and wildebeests, we happened to pass by "that spot." And what was happening there? A pride of lions had hunted an antelope and was feeding on the carcass! We had missed not only the hunt itself but also the precious moment of the mother lion feeding her cubs.
What more is there to say? The fact that the guide wasn't fluent in English wasn't even the main issue. The real problem was encountering such an unprofessional and negligent guide on what was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime safari tour—one we had paid a hefty price for. This falls entirely on Mountain Warriors. Throughout the trip—which we had embarked on with such high expectations—we felt nothing but displeasure and disappointment; my wife even ended up crying in the vehicle.
I could never recommend this company. Even a refund wouldn't heal the hurt my family suffered.

A Perfect Trip
We went on a seven-day safari tour visiting Tarangire, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara. Our guide, Innocent, was professional and friendly, while Helena from the sales team was quick to respond and effectively resolved any issues.

Unforgettable Kilimanjaro & Safari Experience with Mountain Warriors
We had an absolutely amazing experience with Mountain Warriors and would highly recommend them to anyone planning to climb Mount Kilimanjaro!
From the very beginning, everything was handled perfectly. Our communication with Ruth before the trip was excellent. She was always clear, helpful and quick to respond. This gave us a lot of confidence and made the whole process very easy.
Our 8 day Lemosho trek was truly unforgettable. Our guides, Sam and Chewy, were fantastic. They didn’t just guide us up the mountain, they really took us into the experience and made us feel connected to the mountain. Every day, they gave us a detailed explanation of what to expect the following day, which made us feel well prepared and comfortable throughout the entire trek.
A special mention also has to go to our chef, Obama. The food was absolutely delicious! There was always more than enough, with plenty of variety, and it was honestly amazing what he managed to prepare for us every day in the middle of the mountains.
One of the best pieces of advice we received from Sam and Chewy was to do the final hike to Uhuru Peak during the daytime rather than at night. This turned out to be the perfect decision for us. The trail was much quieter, it wasn’t nearly as cold, and we could really enjoy the incredible surroundings instead of focusing on the freezing temperatures. We are so grateful they recommended this option to us.
And of course, a huge thank you to all the porters. They work incredibly hard every day and carry so much of the heavy equipment. Their contribution is absolutely essential, and we have enormous respect and appreciation for everything they did for us.
We also booked a 3 day safari through Mountain Warriors to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, and this was another fantastic experience. Everything was very well organised, and we had an incredible time seeing the wildlife and landscapes. A big thank you to our guide Maly for making the safari such a great experience.
Overall, Mountain Warriors gave us an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the first contact with Ruth, to the incredible guides, chef and porters, everything was handled with care and professionalism.
Thank you so much to the entire Mountain Warriors team for an amazing Kilimanjaro adventure and safari. We would absolutely recommend Mountain Warriors to anyone dreaming of reaching the top of Kilimanjaro! ❤️🇹🇿

Absolutely amazing
We had the most incredible 4 day safari. From when we made the initial enquiry to arriving in Arusha, Ruth was attentive, knowledgeable & answered any queries we had quickly. When we arrived, our tour guide Victor was waiting to pick us up. He was absolutely fantastic for the whole duration of the safari. The journey from Arusha to the national parks was long, yet comfortable and Victor chatted away, pointing out villages & landmarks and giving us a history lesson as we passed through.
During the game drives, Victor was incredible. He managed to tick everything off our bucket list and gave us so much information about the wildlife and answered every single one of our hundreds of questions.
The accommodation we stayed in for all 3 nights was beyond our expectations. The rooms were phenomenal, the staff were all amazing and the food was excellent.
It was an absolutely incredible trip which we wish we’d booked for longer and already can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic Safari!
We did a 4 day safari as part of our honeymoon and couldn’t recommend Mountain Warriors highly enough.
Everything was sorted for us, including transfers, internal flights, food, drinks, and our fantastic guide, Victor.
Victor was incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of the wildlife, local geography and Tanzania itself. He was very friendly, chatty and helpful. He clearly had an expert knowledge of the parks and with him we were able to have some brilliant moments with a huge variety of animals.
This was an unforgettable experience and we hope to come back at some point soon!

Deceptive marketing, systemic bait & switch, and fraudulent bank reporting: A Safari Nightmare
Do not book with Mountain Warriors in a shared safari ever. We had booked a 5 days 4 nights safari for 2 people (including Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Manyara and Tarangire) by contacting them through SafariBookings.com. We paid $1,840 USD + undisclosed credit card fees for a 2-person budget safari explicitly guaranteeing 7 game drives (full day Tarangire (2) + half day Manyara (1) + 2 game drives Serengeti + 2 in Ngorongoro). They failed to deliver on multiple game drives for the most expensive segments of the trip: the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. They run a calculated operation designed to promise high-end premium itineraries compared to their competitors, cut the services short once you have paid in full, and you end up with a half-baked tour.
To start with, after full payment on Day 0, we were told within 4 hours that our itinerary was changed but will cover every parks as advertised. But I insisted on Mary sending me the revised itinerary, which ofcourse came after the safari had started on Day 1. Guess what: game drives previously advertised were omitted from the "new one".
Next, on Day 1 they suffered internal logistical breakdowns that left us entirely missing a scheduled 3.5-hour afternoon game drive at Serengeti (They tried to pack the vehicle with 7 people by getting people from other companies, leading to long waits to pick them up; further their sales person Mary messed up and we ended up picking the wrong person and then exchanging him for the correct person; basically long delays and waits). Thanks to all that, we missed the dusk game drive, when especially predators come out to hunt!!
Second, they explicitly advertised a dual "morning and evening crater drive" in Ngorongoro in the itinerary we paid for. We chose Mountain Warriors specifically for this reason over their competitors. Anyone familiar with Tanzanian park rules knows that NCAA permits are single-entry. Providing an evening drive requires the operator to buy a second $295 USD vehicle descent permit. They cut our morning drive short to only 4.5 hours to get 1 person out of the crater for her flight, and to avoid paying this fee twice, canceled the evening drive entirely, and probably pocketed the rest.
When confronted with all of these at the conclusion of our vacation, they admitted fault by sending a partial refund of $190 USD. However, this was way below even the amount for 2 people, we had estimated, considering the amount of government fees they had saved by not delivering the evening game drive for Ngorongoro alone.
To protect their cash, they lied to our credit card processor during the dispute process (the card company shared this evidence), claiming we "only lost one total hour of safari" because "we had to catch a flight". They falsely claimed to the bank that our tour was cut short due to a flight delay caused by my party. My official flight tickets prove we landed exactly on time, and departed Arusha days after the safari; the delay they cited belonged to a completely separate, third passenger who had no connection to our booking party. They submitted the secondary, unapproved, modified itinerary to the bank rather than the original contract we actually paid for, attempting to retroactively shrink the scope of their unfulfilled obligations. They selectively deleted the entire message thread from their representative, Mary, which explicitly documented their internal stalling and operational delays.
Upon looking at this fabrication, I was extremely appalled, disgusted, and I will leave people to make a decision for themselves.
Finally, upon confronting Gasto & Mary about this deception, they promised (around August 28) to send an official bank resolution (refund another $110, which we accepted to end the dispute) and contact us on September 24, 2026. That date has now passed with no further response.
Book elsewhere with an honest company that doesn't shortchange your vacation hours to inflate their profit margins and ensures a smoother experience. Note, we booked tours and safaris at other places as well before & after, and never experienced this kind of behavior.
However, I will be fair and give a shout out for Victor, our guide. He is a remarkable guide, very knowledgeable and knows details about animals to the letter. He ensured our drive experience was atleast smooth and our once in a life experience has bright spots to remember.

Fabulous
Thank you so much for checking in with us.
We had an absolutely wonderful time on our safari, and we were truly impressed by the whole experience. Everything was beyond our expectations.
Especially, our stay in Serengeti was incredible. The place where we stayed was absolutely amazing, and the people who hosted us were incredibly kind, welcoming and wonderful. They made our experience even more special and memorable.
We were also very happy with our safari guide, Mikail. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and such a great conversationalist. We really enjoyed spending time with him and appreciated his warm and cheerful personality throughout the safari.
We are already dreaming about coming back to Tanzania with a group of our friends in the near future. If we have the opportunity to return, we would definitely be happy to choose you and your team again.
Thank you once again for making such an important part of our honeymoon so unforgettable. We will always remember this experience fondly. ❤️
