Best tour guide we could have wished for
Me and my partner did a 4 day safari with John from Mountain Warriors - he went above and beyond to make our experience so special every single day. We really recommend going with him since he was not only competent in subjects such as animals and nature, but also history, culture and languages. Also, he was great balancing being informative with having a good time and making us laugh.
The stay at the Mountain Warrior Luxury Tented Lodge in Serengeti was one of the best stays we have experienced: amazing accommodation, sunset and sunrise, great food and most important amazing people.
Thank you for a once-in-a-lifetime trip!

The perfect Tanzanian safari! Seamless, memorable & truly magical!
We booked a 4-day, 3-night safari with Mountain Warriors after comparing several other companies, and we are so pleased we chose them.
The customer service was exceptional from start to finish. Communication was always quick, clear and friendly, particularly from Evaline, who responded promptly to every question we had via WhatsApp. The company was also very flexible when discussing our itinerary and any additions we wanted to include.
As we were celebrating our honeymoon, Mountain Warriors added some lovely personal touches, including decorating our safari vehicle and arranging a special room setup at one of the lodges. These thoughtful details really showed how much they care about their guests’ experience.
Our itinerary included Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. We were fortunate enough to see the Big Five as well as many other incredible animals, making the safari everything we had hoped for and more. As we know the big 5 is not a guarantee but we felt so lucky.
The standout part of the trip was our guide, Mbwana. He was knowledgeable, professional and genuinely enjoyable to spend time with. He always made sure we were comfortable, never rushed us when viewing wildlife and was happy to tailor the day around our interests. His ability to spot animals was remarkable, and his knowledge of the parks and wildlife added so much to the overall experience.
The accommodation selected by Mountain Warriors was excellent throughout. The locations were beautiful, check-in and check-out processes were seamless, and all staff we encountered were welcoming and friendly. Camping in the Serengeti was a particular highlight, especially listening to lions roaring in the distance during the night.
The quality of the food throughout the safari was excellent, with plenty of variety and flavour. We were especially impressed by the hot lunches served during game drives, which were far better than we expected.
The safari vehicle was comfortable and well-equipped, including a fridge and a constant supply of drinking water and other beverages.
Our package included a Serengeti hot air balloon safari, and this was worth every penny. It was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our entire honeymoon.
Throughout the trip, we felt completely safe, well organised and looked after. Mountain Warriors delivered exactly what was promised and, in many ways, exceeded our expectations.
We would not hesitate to recommend Mountain Warriors to anyone considering a safari in Tanzania and would happily travel with them again in the future.
Incredible experience
Three truly incredible days of safari. Our guide, John, was always available and kind. Even though we had a delay at the airport, he made up for lost time and we managed to see the Big Five. Highly recommended.

Amazing Safari Experience with Outstanding Guide John, Despite Minor Issues
We had a fantastic safari experience overall and would happily recommend this tour operator.
From the very beginning, communication during the planning process was easy, efficient, and professional. All our questions were answered promptly, making the booking process smooth and stress-free. Throughout our journey, we encountered friendly and helpful staff who genuinely cared about making our trip enjoyable.
The safari itself was an unforgettable experience. A special thank you goes to our guide, John, who was truly exceptional. His knowledge of wildlife, nature, and the local environment was outstanding. He always went above and beyond to maximize our wildlife sightings and put tremendous effort into helping us spot as many animals as possible. Thanks to him, we were fortunate enough to see the Big Five, but he also made sure to introduce us to the “Ugly Five” and the “Small Five,” which added a lot of depth and fun to the experience. His passion and dedication were evident every day.
We would also like to highlight the staff at the lodges, who were extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our stay. Their hospitality made us feel very comfortable and well cared for.
There were, however, a couple of issues that prevented this from being a perfect experience. One of the reasons we chose this operator was that the quotation clearly stated that the safari was all-inclusive, including food and drinks such as water, non-alcoholic beverages, beer, and wine. During the trip, we learned that this mainly referred to water and some Coca-Cola available in the vehicle. While beer and wine were technically available, the cooling box was not functioning, so the drinks were warm and therefore not particularly appealing during lunch breaks. In the lodges for breakfast and dinner only drinking water is included. We believe the inclusions should be communicated more clearly to avoid misunderstandings.
We also booked airport transfers. The arrival transfer worked perfectly, but on our return journey the driver was more than 15 minutes late. The receptionist proactively helped by making several phone calls, and shortly afterwards another driver arrived to take us to Kilimanjaro Airport. During the ride, we learned that this replacement transfer was arranged through a different company. After a brief discussion on the phone, Mountain Warriors handled the situation and covered the additional costs once they realized their driver was significantly delayed and that waiting any longer could have made boarding our flight very stressful.
Despite these minor issues, the overall experience was excellent. The quality of the safari, the friendliness of the staff, and especially John’s outstanding guiding made this a memorable and rewarding adventure.

5-Day Tanzania Safari Review for Guide John
I just finished an unforgettable 5-day safari trip in Tanzania, visiting Tarangire National Park on the first day, Serengeti National Park for the next three consecutive days, and Ngorongoro Crater on the last day, and I have to say this incredible journey would never have been so perfect without our amazing guide, John.
John is without a doubt the most professional, dedicated and outstanding safari guide I have ever met. His expertise in African wildlife, national park landscapes and local ecological knowledge is incredibly profound—he can accurately identify every animal, explain their living habits and behavioral characteristics in detail, and lead us to encounter the most wonderful wildlife scenes effortlessly. Whether tracking animals in Serengeti or exploring the unique ecosystem of Ngorongoro Crater, his professional guidance made every minute of our trip meaningful and rewarding.
Beyond his exceptional professional knowledge, John’s driving skills are truly top-notch. He navigates the rugged roads of the national parks safely and steadily at all times, ensuring our comfort and safety during every game drive, even on bumpy terrains. What’s more, he has a delightful, outgoing and humorous personality—he is always cheerful and easy to talk to, sharing interesting stories about the safari and local culture along the way, which made our long journeys full of laughter and relaxed joy.
What impresses me most is John’s thoughtful and considerate nature. He is incredibly attentive to every detail of our trip, always anticipating our needs and taking care of us wholeheartedly. He patiently answers all our questions, adjusts the itinerary properly according to our preferences, and makes every effort to let us enjoy the best of this African safari. His strong sense of responsibility and dedicated work attitude are truly admirable.
Thanks to John’s excellent company and professional guidance, this 5-day African safari has become the most memorable travel experience in my life. Every moment in Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater is precious and unforgettable because of him. I highly recommend John to every traveler planning a Tanzania safari—he will turn your safari dream into an extraordinary, perfect adventure!
Thank you again, John, for making our trip so wonderful and unforgettable!

An in-depth review
As a solo female traveler visiting Tanzania for the first time, I can’t recommend this tour company enough. They were responsive, supportive, and genuinely invested in making sure my trip was smooth and unforgettable.
The safari was a highlight. My driver, Innocent, was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. He shared insights throughout and went above and beyond to help us spot wildlife. I saw the Big Five: lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo. We saw six black rhinos, which was incredible. We also saw flamingoes and a hyena and a cheetah that was eating something and so many other animals I can’t even think of all of them.
After speaking with other travelers who said their guides barely talked, I realized how much a great guide can elevate the entire experience.
I also booked a two day Mount Kilimanjaro hike through the company. It was tough but incredibly rewarding. By the final stretch, my guide Abdi was literally dragging me up that mountain 😅
The entire staff was amazing. Special thanks to Mary in the office, Innocent the driver from the safari, Yusuf the camp cook, Abdi the hiking guide, and everyone else. You hear “Hakuna Matata” a lot in Tanzania and it’s thanks to the hard work of these people that you get to live it. They make everything feel easy.
Booking was simple and mostly done through WhatsApp, with fast communication and flexibility around timing. They are also very transparent about pricing and tipping, which I really appreciated. They offer hotel pickup and drop off in Arusha, but I recommend asking them for hotel suggestions. I accidentally stayed outside the city which made things a bit harder.
(I switched my hotel to Swahili Village, which was comfortable, clean, and served great food.)
I chose the camping option for the safari and the setup was cosy. The tents were comfortable and they provided thick sleeping bags,
mats, and pillows.
I felt incredibly safe the entire time since I was always with guides or other travelers. If you are out at night, just use common sense, keep valuables hidden, and avoid walking alone.
There is Wi Fi available on the Kilimanjaro hike, but I highly recommend getting an eSIM for travelling between and on Safari. I used Nomad and it was essential for things like confirming hotel details with my driver and staying in touch with Mary.
In terms of value, the four day safari is worth it if you can swing it, though the three day option is still solid. As a solo traveler, the two day hike felt a bit expensive, but it could’ve been because it was just me, and there were like 5 staff members accompanying me. If you travel with a bigger group, the price could be worth it. That said, staying overnight in the mountain cabins was a really unique experience and I’m glad to have done it.
A quick heads up that the visa process at Kilimanjaro International Airport can take two to three hours even if you apply in advance online. If you do book online do not leave it till last minute because if you don’t receive a confirmation email, you’ll still end up applying for Visa in Person and you’ll have to pay again. I saw several people going through this at the airport.
Do not book a taxi ahead of time, there are plenty outside. Also have your hotel address and phone number ready. You’ll need it for the visa process and to give to your driver.
Finally, do not book a flight the same day your safari ends. It is not worth the stress for you or the tour guide.
This was an unforgettable trip made possible by an incredible team. This is a once in a lifetime experience so just book a good tour company. The Tanzania side of the serengeti is a lot nicer from the Kenyan side from what I heard. They have nice facilities and there are washrooms literally everywhere.
Some packing tips:
- Girl, bring some bug spray. And I’m someone who doesn’t use bug spray at all. The cars windows are open, the roof is open. They are going to get in.
- Bring a flashlight for camping the ones that strap your head would literally be perfect.
- Bring a hat that covers the back of your neck and has a strap because it can blow off and of course, sunscreen.
- Bring something warm to wear at night like a tracksuit. A lightweight puffer jacket would be ideal and if you’re going during or just after the rainy season, a raincoat is nonnegotiable.
- Pack some waterproof slippers to wear in the shower and bring a small hand towel not a full-size one
- The roads in the national park are bumpy as hell. Bring some motion sickness meds if you get nauseous. In general, have something for diarrhea or vomiting on you just in case. And if you are older, bring some kind of muscle relaxant because like I said, the roads are rough 😅
- If you are doing any kind of hiking, for the love of God,rent or bring some hiking poles they will make a world of difference. You’re looking at 3 to 4 hours of walking up stairs.
