Trip of a lifetime - 10 Day Safari to Serengeti, Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater
Absolutely incredible, unforgettable experience. We knew we wanted to go on a safari somewhere in Africa, and I spent weeks researching which country and which company to go with before deciding on Tanzania Roadside Expeditions. No other company came close to the communication, flexibility, accommodations, and professionalism of Tanzania Roadside Expeditions. We had a private tour of Tarangire, central Serengeti, northern Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater, and stayed at some unique, beautiful, luxury lodges.
Our process began by talking with Paul, the managing director. He was prompt in responding to my many questions and offering recommendations for our trip, from the overall safari route to what we should bring with us. He even communicated my dietary restrictions to all of the lodges prior to our arrival. We were pleasantly surprised that Paul even met us at our first hotel (Melia Arusha) to talk about the safari and introduce us to our guide, James.
James was the reason that our trip was so extraordinary. With 15 years of experience, he's incredibly well-connected with the other rangers in the park and has an amazing understanding of animal behavior. This meant that he was always able to anticipate where the animals would be going so we'd get the best view, even when there were other vehicle groups around. We got to see not only one lion hunt, but THREE. We had front row seats to see the wildebeest cross the Mara River (twice!) in their Great Migration, we could have reached out the window to pet lions and cheetahs we were so close, we saw dozens of giraffes, elephants, zebra, hippos, gazelles, crocodiles, so many amazing birds, mother lions with their cubs, cheetahs with their cubs, baby jackals, baby gazelles, and so many more. James was also very respectful to the animals, not getting too close to them with the vehicle, but instead letting them come closer to us, which we really appreciated.
James truly cared about what we enjoyed, and was not only patient but also excited to answer our many, many questions. By anticipating where the animals would be, he positioned us so I could get the best photographs (something he knew I was excited about). James also had a lot of flexibility with each day's itinerary. Most days we wound up wanting to explore more and more but some days we wanted to rest a little early and he would always respond with "hakuna matata- no worries." He kept us comfortable and anticipated our needs, whether that be with plenty of cold water, bathroom breaks, and lunches. Not only did we have the adventure of a lifetime, but we also had plenty of time to relax and truly enjoy the experience.

Safari beyond expectations
We had an amazing experience.
Planning:
We had to reschedule 3 times due to Covid and other travel restrictions. Paul was very patient with me with all our changes. In the end we went with a private 8 days safari

Day 4-5 central Serengeti

Safari:
The jeep was clean and reliable.
Our guide was James, he was flexible to our schedule and always made sure we had the best time seeing all the animals. We saw all the big fives and the great migration river crossing

In my itinerary there was Tarangire Park, Serengeti Park, Ngorongoro Crater. Each park was unique and watching the wildlife was an incredible experience. We have visited also Maasai Village and took a flight in a hot air Balloon above Serengeti park. Later we flu to Zanzibar to discover Stone Town and Prison Island, spending last days relaxing by the beach.
All was very well organised, the guides, food, transportation and hotels.
I’m very happy I choose this company. They made my trip an unforgettable experience!

Organized and professional
If it wasn't exciting enough to be going on a Safari in the Serengeti, we had an incredible tour operator to make it more special. Paul in the office was very organized and perfect guiding us step by step through the reservation process. Albert was an exceptional guide that traveled with us from resort to camp to lodge to tent and everywhere in between. We could NOT have had a more knowledgeable guide! Albert has a degree in animal behavior and was a wealth of information on the oddities and peculiarity of each habitat, herd, pride and species interaction behaviors. We learned many interesting facts about each species along with mating rituals and predatory protocols. This adventure was a bucket list fulfilled with the BIG 5 (Lion, Black Rhino, Leopard, Lion, Elephant, Water Buffalo) and Super 7 (Big 5 plus Cheetah and Jackal) all in one trip. We were close enough to giraffe, elephant, zebra and wildebeest to look right in their eyes as they walked within inches of our Jeep. We saw the mating ritual literally in front of our eyes of a male and female lion. We were very near 3 cheetahs resting under a tree, giraffe were fighting from dominance, warthogs are hilarious, hyena are demonic looking, hippos smell awful and crocodiles were typically nearby. Water buffalo, jackal, leopard in treetops, baboon blocking the pathway, black rhino under the trees and many incredible birds. The greatest part of it all, these gorgeous, majestic animals were in their natural habitat, running free and living a protected life!!! HIGHLY recommend this exceptional trip!! Responsive and Accommodating Operator and an Unforgettable Experience!
Working with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions and Paul to set up the safari was a great experience. Paul was very responsive and always patient with the questions I had. This trip was organized as part of my honeymoon and Paul must've put in a good word at the lodges we stayed at because there was always a little something for us to make the trip extra special. What a nice touch!
Our safari guide, Sele, was amazing! Sele is one of the kindest, most knowledgeable, and hard working people we had the privilege of spending 3 days with. He was always excited to go for our game drives and able to see animals from a distance. He put us in some pretty incredible positions to experience the wildlife and make memories that will last my wife and I's lifetime.
Overall, booking with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions was a great experience and I would highly recommend them to anyone else considering this operator!

Paul was great in explaining details of the options and was very flexible in adapting the itinerary to include what we wanted to see within the days available.
Once we arrived in Tanzania we were welcomed by our guide Justin & guide-in-training Arnold. They took care of us from start till end as if we were family and the best of friends.
Arnold seemed more than ready to lead safaris on his own already!
Justin amazed us with his thorough knowledge of Tanzania, the parks and the animals; his eye to spot animals; his constant efforts to ensure we saw as many animals as possible; his patience even with the never ending questions from our 7 year old - even joining in her dance routines.

Family fun in Africa
From start to finish, everything was over the top. From easy and fast communication with Paul, to coming to Arusha airport to be met personally by him (he is owner of TRE) and his excellent guide and driver Ezekiel to having a fantastic trip of a lifetime. I just can’t express how much of a great driver and friend is Ezekiel, excellent knowledge of wildlife and his easy going humor to top it all off. If there is a trip and a company I would recommend for African safari, you could never go wrong with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions.
