Absolutely best Safari company!
I'm not usually the one who writes reviews, but Tanzania Roadside Expeditions earned this one.
We picked Tanzania Roadside Expeditions for our 11 day trip to Kenya and Tanzania, because they were a local company, and that turned out to be the best decision. There was no middlemen, and no miscommunication — just people who know their own country and genuinely care about doing it right.
They delivered everything they promised. The stays, the comfortable transfers, even the minute detail across Kenya and Tanzania went exactly as planned, with zero hiccups. That kind of reliability is hard to appreciate until you're on the other side of the world trusting someone with your whole trip.
The owner, Paul, and our guides - James and Steven are the real deal. They clearly knew their stuff — sharp, calm, and great at getting us into the right place at the right time. We saw the Mara river crossing up close two days in a row and all of the Big 5, and that doesn't happen without guides who know what they are doing.
What we liked most is that it never felt like a packaged tour. It felt personal — like we were being looked after by friends. By the end, we'd honestly gained a new African family away from home.
If you're planning a safari in East Africa, book with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions. You won't regret it.

An Unforgettable Family Safari
Our 8-day safari with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions was truly a bucket-list experience that our family will remember for the rest of our lives. My wife, our daughter, and I had an incredible time exploring Tanzania, especially the Serengeti and Ngorongoro. From beginning to end, everything came together to make this one of the most memorable trips we have ever taken.
A huge part of what made the experience so special was our guide, Ezekiel. Spending so many days together on safari, your guide becomes an incredibly important part of the journey, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better person to share it with. Ezekiel was knowledgeable and professional, but what stood out to us even more was his patience, kindness, and flexibility. Traveling as a family and spending long days on safari isn’t always easy, and there were certainly moments when things were challenging for us. Through all of it, Ezekiel remained incredibly patient, accommodating, and genuinely caring. He adapted to what we needed and always made us feel comfortable. Beyond being a great guide, he’s simply an amazing human being.
From our adventures through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro all the way to helping us with our final airport drop-off in Arusha, Ezekiel took wonderful care of our family. By the end of the trip, it felt less like we had spent eight days with a tour guide and more like we had experienced Tanzania with a friend. The wildlife and landscapes were spectacular, but the people you meet are often what turn a great trip into an unforgettable one, and Ezekiel absolutely did that for us.
Thank you, Ezekiel, for your patience, kindness, laughs, and for helping make our family’s bucket-list safari so special. And thank you to the entire Tanzania Roadside Expeditions team for giving us memories that we will cherish for years to come. We would wholeheartedly recommend them and especially Ezekiel, to anyone planning a safari in Kenya and Tanzania!

What a wonderful surprise
My wife had wanted to go on this Safari for years and eventually my schedule allowed 2 wks of time for it. She asked a friend of hers who had been to Tanzania for medical mission and had great things to say about Tanzania roadside expedition and our experience matches hers .From reservation to 1st stepping off the flight to throughout the safari to leaving back to US we had a wonderful experience in Tanzania .
Our guide Ezequel was amazing. He was courteous, great fun to be with and had an amazing eye.Despite using an excellent pair of binoculars where we saw nothing ,he could point to wildlife with his bare eyes .He had a knack to know when to get up and go, where to go .Some of it is luck during a Safari but the skill of a great guide like him was invaluable. We wanted to see the animal crossing over Marra river and even though everyone turned around ,he asked us to wait and positioned our vehicle superbly barely 100 yards from where the crossing actually occured an hour later.
He has a really good personality and he made sure that the 6 days with him in the Toyota Land cruiser were really enjoyable .
The Land cruiser itself was very well maintained and he kept it immaculate throughout, He and his peers from Tanzania roadside expedition knew where to take us for excellent restaurants in Arusha and were able to arrange another trip quickly for us which we had not initially scheduled .
Except for one place near Gorngoro national park where we stayed for 1 night ( which was good but not great ) the rest of arrangements were very good within the national parks and in Arusha .
All in all an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend this company ( can't vouch for the other drivers and guides but going by our experience with Ezequel I suspect they are all pretty good too).

Professional, super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the animals and locations.
Tanzania roadside were wonderful. The trip was extremely well planned and we loved getting to know the amazing drivers and tour guides, particularly Ezekiel Sankoro. He really cared about our happiness and well being and he went out of his way to find and show us all the unbelievable animals and experiences. We would definitely recommend this tour company,

Experience of a lifetime
We are a couple who recently went on a 11 day Kenya and Tanzania private trip with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions.
We spent a lot of time researching safari companies before booking our trip, and Tanzania Roadside Expeditions checked every box we were looking for. We specifically wanted a local operator rather than an international middleman, fair pricing, mid-range to luxury stays, experienced guides, and, most importantly, a company that operates ethically around wildlife. Tanzania Roadside Expeditions delivered on all of these, 100%.
Our biggest concern was trust. We had heard some scary stories about safari companies taking large upfront payments, providing accommodations very different from what was promised, or even leaving travelers stranded. Being so far from home, that was a real concern. Paul, the owner of Tanzania Roadside Expeditions, completely changed that experience for us. From the very beginning, he was personally involved, patiently answered all our questions, and was incredibly transparent and responsive. He met us before and after the trip, introduced us to his family, and even gave us something thoughtful to take home. By the end, Paul, our guides, and the entire experience genuinely felt like family.
Our guides, James in Kenya and Steven in Tanzania, were absolutely fantastic. Both were incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, observant, and respectful of the animals and their natural behavior. They seemed to anticipate where the animals would move and positioned us for some unforgettable moments. We saw the Big 5, witnessed the great migration and a wildebeest river crossing on our very first day, and many other natural wildlife phenomenon. They were genuinely as excited to show us these moments as we were to experience them. Huge kudos to Steven in Tanzania!
The accommodations were excellent as well. We normally plan our trips ourselves, but organizing multiple stays across two countries is challenging because many camps and lodges aren't easily found online. During the busiest season, several of our preferred options were already booked, but Tanzania Roadside Expeditions's local knowledge and connections meant they could suggest great alternatives until we found exactly what we wanted, often at very good rates.
Tanzania Roadside Expeditions delivered everything they promised and more. We would 100% recommend them to anyone planning a safari in East Africa. In fact, we're already planning our next trip back, and this time we'll be returning not just to Africa, but to visit our newfound family there. ❤️🌍
A very professional and prolific safari with Eze Masaï that we will never forget
We had the chance to spend 4 days with Eze Masaï in both Serengeti and Ngorogoro. Everything was very well arranged in advance, and the plan for these days was very clear. During the safari, Eze showcased a mindblowing knowledge of the terrain, as if he would know where to find animals (beyond what the radio would say of course). We also highly appreciated Eze's professionalism: always on time, and balancing listening to our propositions and suggesting better alternatives if any. Overall excellent value for money, with the Pori Pori lodge as a base. 100% recommended!

Top Notch Customer Service
A year ago, when I went to my bank to wire transfer a large deposit for our safari trip to Tanzania Roadside Expeditions, my banker looked deep into my eyes with worry: "Tanzania? Large amount? One year ahead deposit? You have never met the 'tour operator'? Are you out of your mind? Is this an international scam?"
Well, I just finished my 13-day Kenya-Tanzania safari with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions, and I can assure you, Tanzania Roadside Expeditions is not only a legitimate company, but they also distinguished themselves above all others while handling challenging situations. They showcase great leadership, grace, generosity, and excellent people skills.
The last day of our trip was a jeep ride from Masai Mara back to Nairobi International Airport. Because of the driver's miscalculation on timing, plus a series of unfortunate events, I was late to the airport. The airline canceled my entire two-leg flight and charged me a heavy fine for a "no-show." Nairobi airport terminal doesn't open for passengers who have no ticket; under the hot sun outside the building, I was fortunately able to secure a later flight. The price, including the no-show fine, was so high that it made me even hotter.
I called Tanzania Roadside Expeditions and explained what had happened. Paul, the great tour operator, immediately acknowledged that the driver didn't depart early enough, which caused my trouble. He didn't blame, didn't argue, didn't negotiate; he only asked to see the receipt of my new purchase. On behalf of his company, he took full responsibility and gracefully promised reimbursement for such unexpected costs. He wished me a safe flight home with his warm wishes. Standing in front of the Nairobi airport terminal, I was in tears from his kindness, understanding, and courage to shoulder his responsibilities with dignity. After all, this extra cost was a very big chunk of their income as well, yet he put his client's best interest as the top priority, all the way to the last day of the trip.
When I landed back home in Seattle, his reimbursement fund landed as well. I am amazed by this excellence.
Traveling sometimes takes unexpected turns, especially on a wild safari trip. But when you sign up with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions, Paul is there for you—he has you covered. Hakuna Matata!

Fantastic, communicators, and outstanding guides
From the initial communication to the final drop off, we had excellent communication and excellent care. We had a Guide in Kenya named Jackson. Jackson was extremely knowledgeable and extremely dedicated to finding as many animals as possible. He was very kind, caring and enthusiastic about answering our many questions. We then had a Guide named Moses during our Tanzania portion of the Safari. Moses led us through Serengeti National Park as well as the Ngorongoro crater. He had 15 years of experience and did an outstanding job locating animals and educating us about the beautiful natural environment and its interaction with the animals. He was also very kind, caring and enthusiastic about answering any questions. Both of our guides were interested in what we wanted to see and completely catered to our individual requests for what we wanted our Safari itinerary to be The accommodations were beautiful and comfortable. We stayed within the national park. The food was excellent. The service and staff at each site were outstanding. Everyone was available to assist you with any need at a moments notice. Everyone always with a smile.
Truly, an adventure and journey of a lifetime filled with inspiration, kindness, love, and hope

Highly recommend Tanzania Roadside
We just returned from a 10 day safari in Kenya and Tanzania with Tanzania Roadside and it truely was a trip of a lifetime. When I was planning it, Paul responded very quickly to all my questions and emails and their price was good compared to other companies. In Kenya, we were lucky to start out with Peter who drove us to Masai Mara, he was very knowledgeable and showed us some amazing animal sites including front row seats to the great wildebeast crossing. Then we crossed the boarder into Tanzania and was passed over to Ezekiel who was also very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. He was able to get us up close to so many of the animals and also got to see another wildebeast crossing. Thank You so much (asante sana) to the whole team for a wonderful trip and also a thank you to Ezekiel and Keffa for going out of your way to get our binoculars back to us that we left behind before we flew home.
