Company Profile

Born from a love of Tanzania’s natural beauty and its people, Routes Kilimanjaro Adventures aims to help its travellers to ‘go beyond the package tour’, to gain a greater appreciation of the ‘real’ Tanzania. Locally owned and operated, all of the company’s proceeds stay within Tanzania, allowing Routes Kilimanjaro to ‘give something back’. To add to this philosophy, the company is involved in conservation efforts and community education programmes within Tanzania, helping with projects that support street children in the country.

One such programme is Trekking Kids, which Routes Kilimanjaro runs in partnership with the Msamaria Centre for Street Children. As part of this programme, the company organises educational field trips to the Kilimanjaro foothills, where street children are educated on topics such as the environment. As well as this, some of the company’s staff volunteer at the centre, helping to cook meals and supervise the children. Routes Kilimanjaro is also involved in local volunteering projects, working alongside hospitals and schools near the city of Arusha to develop educational and health programmes for underprivileged children and families. Travellers that embark on a tour with Routes Kilimanjaro are welcome to get involved with the company’s conservation efforts and community volunteering programmes!
