Zambian Dawn Safaris is a small and exclusive owner-operated safari company that focuses on walking safaris in the North Luangwa National Park from June to October and the world famous bat migration in Kasanka National Park in November. The North Luangwa National Park is not only home to some of Africa’s most iconic animals such as lion, leopard, elephant, hippo and black rhino, but it is also a bird watchers paradise with over 400 species of bird recorded in the areas we operate in. Kasanka Natonal Park is where the world's largest mammal migration happens every November when up to 10 million straw coloured fruit bats gather in the Mushitu forest near our camp.
David & Una Bowden provide the highest levels of service and personal attention to make sure our guests experience of Zambia’s pristine environment is conducted in ultimate comfort and in the true spirit of adventure. The whole concept of a Zambian Dawn Safari is to offer an exceptional wildlife experience in the most isolated and remote wilderness where guests will hardly ever see any other tourists. David Bowden, an experienced guide, has great in depth knowledge of the bush and conducts his safaris with such enthusiasm that all guests are completely submerged in the Zambian experience. The North Luangwa has hardly any roads and offers exceptionally good walking safaris.
On a six night North Luangwa safari, guests will spend three nights at two totally different habitat locations; on the clear waters of the Mwaleshi River in the heart of the National Park (Una's Camp) and on the Luangwa River in the area of the Mulondoshi Delta (Bowden's Fly Camp). These two sites are a two hour game drive from each other. The emphasis in both areas is walking safaris - the original Luangwa safari.
Zambian Dawn Safaris will adapt to your safari requirements, whether it be purely photographic, an ornithological focus, all out walking or to simply just relax. We will ensure that our guests experience the sights, sounds and smells of Africa, but they will also see the wide skies, huge vistas, sunsets, and the start of the day with a Zambian Dawn!
