Avella Travels was founded from a shared dream and a journey that began in the African bush. It all started when we met while working on an overland safari and quickly realized how much we had in common: a deep love for nature, adventure and the African bushveld. As time went on, that shared passion evolved into both a partnership and a vision to create a safari company that offers guests a truly personal experience of the wild.
For Rafel, originally from South Africa, the bush has always been home. Having spent years guiding across Southern and East Africa, his deep knowledge and calm approach on safari create experiences that are both meaningful and memorable. Meanwhile, Anne, who comes from the Netherlands, had a long felt fascination with Africa. When she moved here, that connection came to life and she now brings a thoughtful and welcoming touch to every safari we plan.
Together, we wanted to build something that feels real, not rushed or overly commercial, but genuine and comfortable. That is why Avella Travels is all about slowing down, enjoying each moment and creating space for guests to connect with nature in their own way. From the initial planning stages to the final day of safari, we focus on every detail to ensure every adventure is smooth, personal and unforgettable.
Of course, while most of our time is spent in the bush, we also enjoy a bit of friendly competition in the kitchen. We invite our guests to become the judges of who holds the title of “#1 Avella Travels Chef.”
