Great Experience
5/5

We booked through a travel agent and Maasai Wanderings was our guide throughout our trip. I can not recommend Maasai Wanderings enough! They were excellent!!!!!!! We went to Tanzania in Early November, the first 4 nights our guide was Yunus, he went above and beyond every single day for us, we learned so much during our time with him about the animals and the culture. We couldn’t be happier that he was our guide and so thankful. He was full of knowledge and pointed out so much. For the last 3 nights we had Henry in the Serengeti, he was also awesome and we learned so much from him as well! Such great people And made our first Safari experience unforgettable. Everything was well organized

Trip of a lifetime
5/5

Whilst our trip was organised with Rob in the UK we were looked after by Maasai Wanderings whilst in Tanzania. Our guides, Barak and Henry were fantastic, how Baraka spotted some of the animals is beyond me. Both were extremely knowledgable and were a major part of making the holiday a success.

The teams in all the locations were fantastic, friendly and helpful, the meals (both hot and packed lunches) were tasty and plentiful.

An extremely positive experience and I would heartily recommend Maasai Wonderings to anyone.

Best tour operator in Tanzania for photographers
5/5

I have been using Maasai Wanderings now for a few years for my photography trips to Tanzania. They are hands down the best I have used over the last 12 years. All of their guides understand light and importance of positioning the vehicles for the best shot. On top of that every guide I have worked with has been kind, courteous, hard-working, and extremely understanding of what the task for a photographer is. They all speak great English, are extremely knowledgeable of the animals, their tendancies, and their habits. Backing up just a bit, the staff that arranges my trips are detailed oriented, responsive, and extremely helpful with suggestions and recommendation. The camps we've used have been spectacular - awesome locations with superb staff, wildlife sightings, and excellent meals. I've even requested Nachos on one trip to the northern Serengeti near the Mara River and they made it happen! I highly recommend Maasai Wanderings.

We had an amazing safari
5/5

Four of us went on a eight day safari in early June. Yunus was our guide. He could not have been more wonderful. He was the best driver and very safe. He found all the animals for us and tried very hard to get as close as possible. He had a great sense of humour and made every day a fun and exciting experience. The service in all the camps was excellent as was the quality of the food. The safari far exceeded our expectations. We always stopped somewhere interesting to enjoy our lunch. This was an experience we will all remember for ever. Yunus had a hawk eye for finding the animals. We saw the migration along with many other glorious animals.

Wonderful Trip!
5/5

My husband and I traveled to Tanzania in August and had a wonderful experience. Our guide Amos was exceptional. He was so patient with us staying as long with each animal as we'd like, and he found them all. He took care of everything for us, and he was so fun spend time with. Also, he's an exceptional driver. We were sad when it came time to leave him. Donna was great to work with when booking. She was very responsive, and set up everything exactly how we wanted.
All of our accommodations were great. I especially enjoyed the nights we spent in tents. It was nice to be right in the middle of it all.
Maasai was recommended to us by our friends, and I would absolutely recommend Maasai Wanderings to anyone looking to go on safari.
We felt safe and well cared for the entire trip.

Fantastic Experience
5/5

Our Christmas safari was booked through Yellow Zebra. Richard from Maasai Wanderings was our guide who picked us up at Kili Villas the day after we arrived in Africa. Richard was polite, knowledgeable, entertaining, punctual and an excellent driver. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent with him.

Our wonderful guide Mohammed M helped make our Tanzania trip the most AMAZING we have ever taken!!!!
5/5

We are so grateful that Yellow Zebra who hand-crafted our Christmas trip to Tanzania booked us with Maasai Wanderings for our first three days. Mohammed met us at the Kilimanjaro Airport and the next three days were perfect! We could not have asked for a more passionate, knowledgeable, kind and humorous guide as Mohammed! His passion for and knowledge of the wildlife and plants and flora, the tribal culture and life in Tanzania enriched our trip in countless many ways. After two days touring the nearby Arusha parks, we especially enjoyed the drive to Ngoronogo Crater. A highlight of our trip was the dawn exploration of the crater with morning breakfast at the beautiful hippo lake. By the end of our three days together, besides all that we had seen, we felt very fortunate to have learned so much about life in Tanazania and felt as if Mohammed was family. We truly left part of our hearts at the Manyara Airstip when we said goodbye to him. Mohammed certainly was a big reason we fell in love with Tanzania and its magic that is like no other we have experienced. We give Mohammed Magessa and Maasai Wanderings our highest recommendation!

Out of this world
5/5

I recently returned from a 9 day safari in Tanzania. Oltesh Shange was my driver and guide and since there was no one else booked for this particular tour, I had personal attention from the moment he picked me up to the moment he dropped me back at the airport to return home to New York.
All of the accommodations were stellar, the food was stellar and the staff at every lodge/camp went out of their way to make me feel comfortable.
Oltesh has been a guide for many years and he is extremely knowledgeable about the animals, their habits, their locations and the best places to scout them out.
He is personable, has a great sense of humor and very, very helpful. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is planning a trip to Tanzania.
He is also Maasai and knows how to communicate with the tribes, which made it helpful when I wanted to buy things or ask questions.
Oltesh definitely made a trip one I will never forget.

Wonderful Experience
5/5

My husband and I toured with Maasai Wanderings this last September. Our itinerary included Tarangire Park, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and two days in Zanzibar. This was our third time in Africa and second time with Maasai Wanderings (we first toured w/ them in 2010). This company offers an exquisite, unforgettable and unique Safari experience. They are very professional, serious a/b their business and very personable. Many thanks go to our exceptional guide Muba Mkwepo, Devita and the company owner Donna Duggan. Through the years we’ve recommended Maasai Wanderings to many of our friends and acquaintances and we will continue to do so. It is a unique experience. We hope to return in not so far future.

Dream honeymoon with great camps & guides!
5/5

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Tanzania and we were blown away by Maasai Wandering. First, we did two days of game drives in Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater with Ali, and he was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable, kind, and skilled. Not only was he a great guide in the parks, he was also such a patient and great resource in telling us more about Maasai & Tanzanian cultures, which we thoroughly enjoyed hearing about.

Next, we headed to the Serengeti where we stayed at Ehlane Plains Camp. We were stunned by the camp, and even more so, by the staff. We can't say enough positive things about our guide, Abu. His breadth of knowledge about everything from the animals (including birds), to their tracks, calls, and behaviors, was outstanding and continuously impressed us. He was a true professional, which was also evidenced by his command of where to go and when in order to get our best chances of seeing the extraordinary things the Serengeti has to offer. He also has an amazing eagle eye -- spotting a sleeping leopard in a rock formation from hundreds of meters off & a pride of lions that were barely a speck in the distance. We saw more -- and learned more -- during our time with Abu than we ever could have hoped or imagined. But more than anything, he was just a great person to spend our 4 days of game driving with. The rest of the staff at Ehlane were no different. The manager was extremely attentive and kind, and we had a great time talking with him by the fire. He clearly took great pride in his work, and was the consummate host of the camp. The chef stunned us with his culinary skills in such a remote location.

In light of how gorgeous the setting is at Ehlane -- the camp, the tents, and all of the amenities, as well as the landscape around the camp -- it's hard to believe the staff could outshine such a location, but that they did. Thank you for making our honeymoon truly the trip of a lifetime.
