Great experience and highly revommended
5/5

We (my wife, me and our 20 yrs old son) had a great 10 days safari experience in Kenya in Nov 21, visiting Masai Mara, Lake Navaisha, Amboseli and Ol Pejeta .
The experience with Explorer Kenya was very good. The Toyota Land Cruiser safari car is perfect for safari.
Our driver, Bernard Njinu, is very experienced and professional, very knowledgeable about animals and Kenya in general, he knows the parks by heart and is able to spot any animal. Very organized, he helped us efficiently during the whole trip.
We highly recommend his services.
Thank you very much.

September 2021 Kenya Safari

Fabulous!
Just coming to the conclusion of our ten day Safari, I can only give the trip, our drivers and the planning a five star rating! It has been terrific! Njinu our driver/guide, along with Jonathon and Douglas were all so wonderful. As needs arose help was right there. Without hesitation Our guide was there with answers and educational material. My knowledge was expanded exponentially! I really cannot recommend the company, ‘Explorer Kenya’ more highly. It is not possible to completely explore a place without a helpful tour guide who knows everything about the place. We were very lucky to have someone like Njinu who was so knowledgeable.
All our vacations are made better by an experienced and friendly tour guides who provide us with all the information about the place and enlighten us on the history and culture of the region.

Please accept our heartfelt gratitude for being such a great hosts and wonderful tour guides. You took us to places we hardly had any idea about. You and this trip will be etched out in our memories forever.

The trip to Ol Pejeta was amazing. Communication was clear from the start. Robert was very responsive and made sure everything is well planned. Jonathan our tour guide was the best. Very kind and knowledgable! Explorer Kenya will never disappoint you.

A fantastic experience!
5/5

Had an incredible time at Masai Mara with Johnathan as a tour guide and driver. He has expert knowledge of the park and its inhabitants, and graciously attends to every detail. He is also considerate and agreeable. The accommodations at Ashnil Mara camp are luxurious, located in an idyllic setting, and well staffed to the point of excess. Highly recommended! As an aside, if you pick up souvenirs along the way, bring your haggling skills and a keen awareness of value.

Absolutely fantastic
5/5

This is the second time we have used Explorer Kenya and on both trips we have not been disappointed. Rather than taking one of their package tours we opted to arrange our own accommodation and itinerary, and simply asked for the services of a guide/driver and an all terrain vehicle for a week.
Robert, who runs/?owns the business is highly reliable, flexible and a good communicator so it was extremely easy to arrange our trips by email and have them confirmed prior to entering the country.
Both trips included three or four nights in the Maasai Mara staying at Julia’s River Camp, which is a great mid-budget camp, on the banks of the Talek River within the park itself. There is nothing too much trouble for the staff there to ensure your comfort, and I would thoroughly recommend a visit there.
Our driver on safari has always been Dan Kim. Not only is he an excellent driver; calm, unflappable and very conscious of his clients comfort over some of worlds biggest potholes and the most challenging traffic jams around Nairobi, but he is also a fantastic guide / bodyguard / translator and ultimately friend. My daughters were so impressed with his encyclopaedic knowledge of Kenya’s flora, fauna, people’s and their cultures that they desperately tried to find questions he was unable to answer - they failed! Dan has a very pleasant and unassuming personality and was always prompt, courteous, smiling and a great travelling companion. If you need a guide I would unreservedly recommend him.
With thanks to Dan we saw all the animals and birds we could have dreamed of, and learnt so much more about their habits, lives (and deaths!)
Kenya is a land of contrasts - geographically, climatically, culturally and economically. It’s was therefore more than just interesting to travel to a steamy Kisumu on Lake Victoria, up-to the fresh cool Highlands of the Mau and down to the lakes of the Rift Valley. It was really an unforgettable trip.
A quick word about COVID:
1. Need a negative PCR COVID test 96 hrs prior to entry. 2 Fill in Travellers Health Surveillance online form and obtain QR code
VERY impressive precautionary measures everywhere in Kenya - temperature, mask and hand washing before entering any building.

Unbelievable and a amazing experience of wild life
5/5

The 3-day Safari trip was a wonderful experience for me and my family. I initially worked with Mayur Jain who endured all of my questions and made sure we got just the package we desired. He was invaluable and made sure every detail was covered. Our tour guide, Jonathan Maina, was fantastic and he went above and beyond in ensuring we captured the best photos as our goal was to see The Big Five. We saw a family of 5 male cheetahs with a fresh kill. He was not hesitant to go off the accessory roads in search of rhinos. He was knowledgeable about the animals, the habitat and the Masai Mara reserve as well as the Masai people. He made sure that our experience was what we wanted and was more than willing to adjust the schedule to meet our needs. He was our translator, too. We did the balloon ride which was beautiful and ended with a delicious breakfast on the reserve. I would highly recommend this company and, especially, Jonathan and Mayur.

Trip of a lifetime..i PROMISE
5/5

First, let me say, I was concerned about whether this trip would go as promised as sometimes you purchase something from such a far distance and it is not quite what you think. This was ABSOLUTELY NOT the case. This trip was beyond our expectation. The level of communication, the level of service, the level of hospitality, the level of honesty, and quality of staff were incredible. We are accustomed to a marriott standard in the US and this met or exceeded it. Our driver/guide, Jonathan, was outstanding. He took care of us as if we were family. He made certain we experienced everyrhing...and safely. His skills are superb. If you are having any doubts about travel to Kenya, you MUST use explorer kenya. They will watch over you the entire time and secure your happiness and well being. You will have the trip of a lifetime. This company and Jonathan are beyond reproach. You will have the experience of a lifetime.

Memories that will last a lifetime - absolutely amazing!

Explorer Kenya safaris

Just wow! Everything has been perfect from the first communications with Purity through to our amazing drives with our brilliant Guide Jonathan!

Our route was Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo west and east (8 days in total)

Organising a safari, is a daunting task; knowing where to go, what lodges to pick and trying to keep it within a set budget. Purity made it very simple for us , provided great advice and help us adapt our 8 day itinerary to bring it in within our budget. She was extremely flexible and accommodating to our ever changing plans due to covid.

The hotels that were organised for us to stay in were all fantastic.

Jonathan our amazing Guide, his experience, knowledge and brilliant driving skills got us to see everything we set out to find on our safari.

We were lucky enough to see all the animals up very close within a meter of the car and didn’t need to use binoculars once - such an incredible experience, made perfect by Jonathan’s driving skills and knowledge of the parks.

Our highlight was seeing a pride of 5 cheetah brothers (the Best 5) with their kill, followed by the vulchers swamming in. We also got to see a wildebeest river crossing, the huge herd of wildebeest following their migration, as well as numerous lions (we lost count as we saw so many).

It has been the trip of a lifetime with memories that was last forever. Thank you Jonathan for everything we have enjoyed every single second.

Explorer Kenya safaris comes with our highest regards and if you do have the opportunity to request Jonathan as your Guide we would highly recommend it - you won’t be disappointed!

Njinu stewarded our safari adventure with style and grace
5/5

My family recently embarked on a five-day safari tour across several of Kenya's stunning national parks in the Rift Valley. It was an experience that exceeded all our expectations, thanks largely to our phenomenal tour guide, Njinu Bernard.

Our experiece was made richer and more enjoyable by Njinu's encyclopedic knowledge of Kenya's wildlife and culture. With decades of experience, he provided insightful commentary that brought the safari to life, explaining the social behaviors of herds of gazelles, the hunting prowess of hyenas, and seasonal movements of birds. Njinu was not only focused on the big five, but drew our attention to notable bird and even plant life.

Njinu's exceptional driving skills made us feel secure while rumbling through the rugged terrains of Nakuru Lake National Park and Hell's Gate National Park. When we stopped for lunch in a park he was on constant alert for signs of danger and kept a close watch on each member of the party. Njinu also showcased leadership in situations where we were approached by vendors selling various items. He took command of these situations, ensuring that our interactions remained pleasant and unobtrusive.

His character was demonstrated when Njinu walked through a cultural tour taking it upon himself to pick up trash left by others along the path.

Beyond his professional capabilities, Njinu's warm and engaging personality made our trip truly special. The evenings spent enjoying meals and conversations with him were a delight. His stories and insights not only entertained us but also deepened our understanding and appreciation of Kenya.

For all of these reasons, I am pleased to recommend this tour and Njinu in particular.
