First time in Kenya and first safari
4/5

To give some context to my review, I'm the type of person that usually likes to travel without anything scheduled and figure out what to do in the place. Since this was our first time in Africa, our first Safari and we were going to Kenya in the elections period, we've decided to at least book the Safari online. Finding a company was not an easy task (there are way too many agencies) and Simon was probably the person that better replied to all my questions and did it a timely manner (he was replying much faster than I was replying to his emails, sorry pal!).
When we got to Kenya, everything went smooth but we've figure out that the online companies are nothing more than agencies that deal with freelance drivers and include us in a 4x4 with people from other companies. This is not a bad thing, but for someone that travels on the cheap, you are more than ok to go to Kenya, find one driver and negotiate with him directly. For those of you who prefer to do it the "safer way", I clearly recommend Wildrace Safaris .
Kenya is without a doubt an amazing country to travel around and see a different scenario from anywhere we've been in the world. We had the opportunity to see the big 5 between Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli. When in Amboseli, if you can see "Cloudymanjaro", please celebrate for me.
Our trip was lovely and Simon made sure we were always ok during the entire trip. We ad a few roadbumps along the Safari, but "This Is Africa". The important part is that we really enjoyed the country, the safari and everything we crossed paths with.

Great Kenya Safari
5/5

My girfriend and I went on a Kenya Safari with Wild Race Africa Safari in September 2014 and just get back from holiday. We started to organise a Kenya Safari more than one month before leaving home. We communicated with Mr. Simon Milambo over e-mail, and I must say that each time he responded rapidly and answered all the questions. We choose 6-day Safari in Masai-Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli. Mr. Simon explained the whole program in detail inclouding places where we will sleep and eat. He was opened to our suggestions, because we wanted a mix between buget and mid-range accomodations. We negotiated for a price and than paid 30% via PayPal. When we arrived in Nairobi a driver was waiting for us, like promised and took us to the hotel. The next day we met Mr. Simon and started a long drive to Masai-Mara and even went on a short game drive there. Masai-Mara was great and thanks to a great guide/driver Mr. Fred we saw many animals, even the rare leopard. We were in the van with 5 other persons, witch was a bit crowded, but we managed. Try to organise your Safari with less, like 6 person maximum if you can. I would say 4 people per car is optimum. Mr. Fred spoke very good English and explaind many things about wildlive in general. He answered all of our questions, stoped the car everytime we asked and was flexible for our suggestions on the way. I would recommend Mr. Fred to anyone going to Safari in Kenya. We stayed in Wildbeast Camp and it was OK for two nights, staying longer could be a problem, since it is more basic accomodation, but nice people there. There were less people in the van in Lake Nakuru and Amboseli so it was better. I would recommend accomondation in Kibo Safari in Amboseli were it was very nice. Lake Nakuro accomnondatoin was nice too. If you are planing the same Safari think twice before going to Amboseli. Do not get me wrong Amboseli was very nice, with Kili view, we saw 5 cheetah family there and lots of other animals and the eviroment is very nice and different than in Masai-Mara or Lake Nakuru, more dry - desert like almost, but we spent almost a full day driving there from Lane Nakuru and than half a day driving back to Nairobi. And in Amboseli we didn't see any animals we haven't already saw in Masai-Mara or Lake Nakuru. So top priority must be Masai-Mara, than Lake Nakuru for flamingos and rihnos and than Amboseli for a diferent eviroment and view of Kili. To end our adventure in Kenya we got a free 4 hour guided tour in Nairobi before we got on the plane. I would recommend Mr. Simon and Wild Race Africa Safari as your organizer for Safari in Kenya. I hope you will enjoy as we did!

Unforgettable holiday
5/5

Once in lifetime experience with and executive Touch!
I have always dreamt of being in Africa and thanks to simon and Wildrace Africa Safari Tour & Travel, my first time in Africa has been amazing, and for sure the safari trip was the best of it all!
Everything was supper perfect; Simon has been super helpful, swift in his responses, clear and precise in his explanations, very detailed in almost every aspect.
We landed in Kilimanjaro airport late in the night and as promised there was the driver waiting for us at the exit with our name paged on it. We were tranfered to Ilboru safari lodge for our night and later on picked up the next day in the morning to start our 6 days Northern Tanzania Safari visiting Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti National park with Arusha airport drop off for our flight to Zanzibar.
During our trip with Deodatus. We were able to spot all the big five and many more animals with lot of ease. Our guide was very professional, down to earth, flexible and quite accommodating with excellent driving skills leave alone the flora and Fauna.
Food was good and always more than enough, the lodges were excellent, best safari car one would ever want to be in for your Tanzania safari trip, very comfortable considering the roads' conditions.
I would not hesitate to recommend simon and his company for anyone who wants to have the best of African Safari experience of a lifetime.
They have both offices in Nairobi and Tanzania, we made our payment in Arusha office. Innocent Frank is the foreman in Arusha office.
Thanks simon, this was Unforgettable holiday!

An experience worth dying for!
5/5

The African safari experience.
Much appreciation to African Habitat Safaris Safari tours and their team of experts for a memorable African tour.
We booked a two weeks safari based on reviews about the firm and an incredible Kenya tour operator Rachel was waiting on the other end. She, being the sole owner of the company facilitated the experience form the point of booking to the end of the tour. The safari was conducted in a van fit for my family. Our tour guide, Obama conducted the trip professionally depicting knowledge of the terrain, the wildlife and the culture revolving between Kenya and Tanzania country generally. The destinations across the two countries in Mara and Serengeti. That was a remarkable ten day experience out of Europe

The review below is the personal opinion of Radhika Bajaj and not that of SafariBookings.
Be wary of them, we felt cheated.

My husband and I booked with Simon Malimbo of Wild Race Africa Tours after finding him on Safari Bookings website. We were told that tour operators are generally trustworthy. So we booked with him for a 5 day tour to Nakuru (1 night) and Masai Mara (3 nights) which was an all inclusive trip - all meals, transportation, pop-up van and 6 safaris all paid. The safaris we were promised were - evening safari in Nakuru, next morning safari in Nakuru, evening safari in MM, two full day safaris in MM and then a morning safari in MM before we leave. We paid him 30% advance and the rest amount immediately upon arrival. Simon handed us to Obama who was to be our tour guide. Obama was accompanied by a girl who, we were told, was an 'intern' and wanted to be a tour guide, so we happily welcomed her.
Our first shock came immediately after we set off for Nakuru. Obama told us that there would be no evening safari, and if we would do an evening safari, there would be no safari the next morning. I spoke to Simon to ask him why, he had a response that - the entry ticket at Nakuru was not valid for 24 hours like Masai Mara and hence we had to choose. He apologised and and said it was a mistake on his part that he had included both safaris in our confirmation email and swept it off under the carpet. Though we were upset, we let it go thinking it was a genuine mistake.
Obama was extremely informative and intelligent and gave great insights into the animal life. The girl intern wasn't the least interested in anything remotely related to wildlife but we thought she may be shy and so simply ignored her.
We then set off for Masai Mara. We had made it clear that we wanted all the safaris we paid for - 4 to be precise. Obama promised us that we would have an evening safari that day. We reached at 4.30pm and as promised, he got out and bought three tickets at the gate (the girl intern was tired and got off to go to the hotel) and we set off for the Safari. Obama told us that the park is open till 6.30 and we will have to leave it by then. So we exited the park at 6.30.
Next morning we four (intern included) left for a full day safari. Obama waved the tickets from the day before (they didn't stop us to check) and they let us in. Obama told us we would leave the park at 5 as we would be tired. My husband smelt a rat because Simon had told us that Masai Mara tickets are valid for 24 hours. But he didn't say anything. The sightings on this day were amazing and the place was teeming with wildlife. There were also a huge number of cars everytime we spotted an animal. When we stopped for lunch, the girl intern lay on the carpet with her pant button and zip open. My husband and I found this behaviour weird but we didn't say anything. We left the park at 5 instead of 6.30 at the stauch insistence of Obama.
In the evening at our lodge, when Obama was not there, we questioned the girl intern about herr study course for becoming a tour guide, she told us that she was a hairdresser and had done courses in hairdressing. We again found this strange but didn't say anything.
Next morning Obama deliberately delayed our departure for another full day of safari. We eventually left around 8.30am. Today too the intern was tired and didn't accompany us. This time he told us that he was taking us in through a 'side gate' and this was 'rhino country' and the chances of spotting a Rhino are high here. We did not pass through any gate but after an hour he showed us a gate behind us and said that now we are inside the park. He did not show or purchase the tickets anywhere that day. All day we roamed about but this day the sightings were few and far in between and we didn't encounter any cars except very few. Obama said it was a dry day. He let us stay till 6.30. While we were leaving from the park, our car got stuck in sand but Obama refused to radio for help. While he was trying to get the car out, my husband checked the park entry tickets which Obama had kept in the front of the car. My husband found tickets of only the first day but none for the rest of the days.
When we reached the lodge, my husband decided to confront Obama about his intentions. Obama denied everything and became very emotional and called up Simon and spoke in Swahili (we don't know what). He kept telling us that he will show us the tickets of all the days but deliberately avoided to show us. Obama claimed that he had bought the tickets of all the 3 nights together and hence we didn't stop of tickets on the previous two days. He said this was normal practice. He then avoided it by saying that Simon will give all the tickets to us. We never got them. He pretended to be so upset that he said he was leaving us and arranging another car for us. This unprofessional attitude angered us and we told him off for wanting to leave the two of us alone in a jungle with no connectivity and wanting to run away. My husband was worried about me and then apologised and coaxed him to stay back. Maybe that prompted him not to abandon us in the middle of nowhere.
Next morning on our last safari Obama went through the gate. Before entering, he made a phone call in Swahili. While entering a female guard came out and checked our tickets and let us in. On our way out, before exiting, he again made a call and spoke in Swahili. At the gate, the same female guard came out and let us out. Then Obama told us that he had to collect the 'exit receipt'. And then he got out of the car and I saw him slip some money to the same female guard at the gate.
We are sure that Simon and Obama saved the money from the entry tickets - they paid only for one 24 hour safari.

All in all the wildlife was exciting and Obama was very knowledgeable. But Simon and Obama spoiled our trip by these underhand and shady dealings at Masai Mara and also denying us a safari at Nakuru. And we are pretty sure that the girl, whoever she was, was definitely not an intern for becoming a tour operator.

Please don't book with Wild Race Africa or Simon. Obama is genuinely knowledgeable but he was definitely involved in this business. We had great safari game drives and an amazing time in Kenya, the trip was so memorable and we saw the Big Five. But we felt genuinely cheated. So please don't book with them!

Perfect 5-day Amboseli/Masai Mara safari
5/5

We did a 5 days / 4 nights safari tour to Amboseli and Masai Mara with Wild Race Africa and we had a great time.

As it was a last minute trip for us, it was helpful that Simon was very responsive and helped us organize the trip rapidly by email. Also they were flexible when we asked to do 5 days instead of 6.
They picked us up when we arrived at the airport and drove us to our hotel in Nairobi even if the safari only started two days later.

George was our driver for the 5 day safari. He was an excellent driver and very knowledgeable and friendly. He knew the parks very well and gave us lots of information on the animals. And he did his best so we could see many animals and so we could have a great time.

The two lodges they booked for us in the two parks were excellent. In Amboseli, we stayed at Kibo Luxury Tent Camp, a great lodge just outside the gate. In Masai Mara, we stayed at Mara Keekorok, a lodge inside the park which was very helpful as the park is very big. For the car, we picked the Land Cruiser instead of the van and we feel we made the right choice as the road was quite muddy and we could not have gone on the same tracks with the van.

We were very happy with the whole trip and the organization. We really recommend going with Wild Race Africa and with George as a driver!

Wonderful safari
5/5

The communication re booking the safari with Simon was excellent- prompt and efficient. We chose Wild Race because they seeemd to offer the same safari itinerary as other companies, but at lower price- which was indeed the case. Despite this, they could offer a range of accommodation from budget camping to good quality lodges. We were doing our safari in Tanzania, and had not realised that Wild Race would use an agent there to operate the actual safari, but this all turned out fine. Since we were doing a safari with other people to keep costs down (and also more potential to spot animals), our itinerary was changed a little at the last minute to fit in with others, but it turned out ok.... albeit a bit of a last minute change. The only thing to be aware of was that the final payment was poorly communicated- we thought we could pay by PayPal, but they wanted cash, so by this stage we had already paid in PayPal... but we did get money back ok, so honest people.
Safari itself was EXCELLENT. Our driver Samuel was good. Accommodation perfect ( the other 4 in our vehicle were camping, so he dropped us off at lodges and them off at campsite) and we saw all the animals we wanted too- Big 5 and many more!
