Reliable and responsive
4/5

I requested information from 5 tour companies. Edith was the clearest, most prompt and she listened to my request. The plan was confirmed and she prepared me well including details about pickup in Kagali. My driver was safe and diligent but had limited English. I booked Le Bambou Gorilla lodge which was minutes from the park and a very good choice. Since I travelled alone, my driver and I ate together. They were quiet meals, hence 4 stars. Nice property with beautiful views and warm staff. Dennis (manager) and the Chef and staff were great. It was my birthday and Chef made a cake and I received a surprise song and celebration. It was very nice. The guides were superb on the trek. We visited the small Muhoza group and saw the youngest gorilla in the area. They were well habituated and a female literally came down from the canopy right on top of us while we were all attentive to the big silverback. What a surprise! But all was well and the guides handled it well as did we all. I recommend a porter. It was very muddy and cleated hiking shoes were a real liability. The guides and porters use flat rubber boots and they did not slip nearly as much. Gaiters are a must with hiking shoes which you can rent at the assembly area. Bring light rainwear as the weather is changeable. Gloves are useful especially around nettles. The growth is quite dense so be prepared to use some muscles that you forgot existed. Most agreed an iPhone is comparable or better than common cameras, except for ones with fast lenses. Movies capture more of the experience than stills but bring both.

very good with communications
4/5

The email correspondent with Edith was very professional. She was very fast and patient with all my questions.
This is the only tour operator that offered a very fair price for the 5 days safari that I wanted to do. Moses, my driver was very knowledgeable, hard working and a very good and safe driver. The hotel chosen for me to stay in was nice. I definitely liked the Rushaga Gorilla camp as it is a fairly new hotel and the village was nearby. The food was very good, I just wished that full board means drinks like juice/tea/coffee should be included in the meal. Only thing I didn't like was the method of payment. I should be able to pay with my credit card online and not having an unsecured way of payment such as sending a wire bank transfer. In the end I payed by credit card but I called Edith via whatsapp to give out the number which I was skeptical about, but it all went well. I would not hesitate to book with Ansima Safaris again.

comprehensive; very good value for money
4/5

The people were hospitable and friendly. I got what I wanted on this tour for a reasonable price. The highlight, of course, was the gorilla trek. Marvellous animals. Moses was a an informative host and a good driver. It was a pity that I was the only one on this safari and it did get a bit lonely at times but that's not the fault of the company. One small negative. It needs to be made clearer that the money paid does not include tea or coffee at meal times. I think it should as this is an integral part of meals.
