Fabulous 5-Day Safari Experience
5/5

My partner and I booked a two-person, 5-day safari with Transtrek. Daniel was prompt, forthcoming, and full of helpful information before booking and also before our trip departure from the US. Once with our local guidedriver, Tony, we knew we were in good hands. Tony was highly knowledgeable about wildlife, friendly with the Masai guides at our lodges, and was happy to customize and cater our day treks to our needs. He made sure we had chances to see all the big 5 and any particular animals we were interested in and we loved being in our private Range Rover for viewing without the crowds.

We especially loved the Basecamp Eagle's Nest camping experience--this ecotourism group is owned by the Masai people and does great work in the community. It was the best of the places we stayed and we really got to know the staff--from our Masai guides to the chef to the locals in the nearby village. It made our trip special!

An Unforgettable Safari
5/5

On our fifth visit to Kenya for a safari we chose TransTrek on the recommendation of one of their previous clients. I would have no hesitation in extending that recommendation to other travellers who have similar interests and objectives. This is a very professional outfit.

For us Kenya is a wildlife photographers paradise, her people are amazingly friendly, and the camps at which we stayed were outstanding. This was our first completely ‘on road’ safari and despite reservations regarding driving times it was overall not hugely different to total times taken flying between game reserves when travel to and from, and waiting at, airstrips etc is balanced. The only downside was the amount of dust on the road to the Mara.

TransTrek readily tailor safaris to clients needs and desires. In e-mail and telephone discussions with Daniel we made refinements and changes to times and camps in the “Samburu Five & Big Five” offer advertised in the TransTrek web pages. Each stop had its peculiar highlights; Samburu and the Mara never disappoint; the Aberdares Country Club was just Oh So Colonial but the Ark at the Aberdares was a new experience which gave good photo opportunities; Ol Pejeta was also new to us, providing some unforgettable encounters; Sopa at Naivasha was fine for a transit stop; Naboisho was also a first visit - it was really interesting to understand the integration of Masai herders, safari lodges and animal conservation within a conservancy. It bodes well for the future. Food was good at all camps, but special mention should be given to the chefs at Sweetwaters, the Aberdares CC, and at Samburu Intrepids.

Our guide Tony went out of his way to make us comfortable and to get us into the best photography positions. He was on the go non-stop. Beyond his in depth and perceptive knowledge of the animals we encountered he has a broad command and appreciation of local, and African at large, culture and history. Our interaction was constantly engaging.

Overall we had a “lions share” this safari - we saw more lions and rhinos than on all our previous trips combined and as chance would have it we also witnessed once in a lifetime wildlife encounters. This trip will live long in our memories.

Superb 11 day honeymoon safari
5/5

We looked at several safari operators, but decided on Transtrek very soon after Dan contacted us and tailor made our trip to suit both time and budget. David was a fantastic and very knowledgeable guide and we would like to use this platform to thank him again for an unforgettable safari on our honeymoon. Some of the highlights: Elephants and views of Kilimanjaro from Amboseli; Kilanguni lodge in Tsavo West, with view of waterhole from our room; Sheldrick elephant orphanage in Nairobi, where we met our fostered baby elephants; bird life at lake Naivasha; lions, cheetah and leopards at Masia Mara. There was much, much more including the comfortable accommodation, swimming pools and exceptional food at every camp.
Highly recommended.

Helpful, knowledgeable and easily contactable.
5/5

This was our second safari organised by Transtrek, and we were looking for something to complement last year's Mara/Lakapia/Naibosho trip. Daniel suggested Meru/Samburu and it was once again a wonderful experience for all of us, grandkids included. It was all perfectly organised and it went very smoothly - transfers, sightseeing in Nairobi, internal flights, and departure. Thanks again for the advice and organisation Daniel. It was great.

13 days northern Kenia masterly tailored
5/5

Our 13 day safari was, by far, the most expensive journey we ever made. Did we like it and do we have the feeling that it was worth it?
Definitely: YES!!! :-) :-)

The tour Daniel has choosen for us was exactly what we wanted! Driving safari, boat, walking, culture.

The midrange lodges exceeded our expectation! Especially the Tumbili Cliff Lodge and the SOPA lodge have been stunning. Best vegan kitchen was SOPA.
We managed to stay mostly vegan. All of the kitchen staff was very helpful.

As we already have seen the big 5 and many other animals of Africa, we asked our guide Peter especially for distinct animals. The day we wanted to see a cheeta, we saw 8 and a smashing hunting scene. Our guide did a good work and fulfilled all our wishes.

Even when I left a beautiful masai-designed belt in our last hotel, Peter offered to send it back to Austria.

It was a fabulous safari!!
THX for the neat organisation!!

Greetings, Spiritus & Girlfriend

A Memorable 14 day Kenya Safari & Diane Beach
5/5

My husband and I have travelled to many countries in the past 10 years but this trip was by far the best one ever. It exceeded all our expectations. It took a while for Daniel to prepare an itinerary that suited our needs and was affordable. Safari trips do not come cheap but compared to other companies Transtrek was value for money. I'd been to Africa before (Kruger, Botswana and Zambia) on safari but felt rushed and saw very little. Peter our guide/driver picked us up from Nairobi and our adventure began. Our safari's were in Ambolesi, Tsavo, Lake Navaisha and my favourite Maasai Mara. All our accommodation was luxurious clean & comfortable. As for the food.... the diet had to start as soon as I returned! If you love wildlife Kenya is definitely the place to go. We saw all the big five despite it being the low season. My highlights was in the Maasai where in addition to Zebras, elephants, giraffes and many breeds of antelope; we saw lions and cheetahs with their cubs, leopards chilling out on trees and the very allusive rhino. People were very friendly and though you get the usual pushy locals trying to sell you souvenirs, we never felt unsafe, a stern 'no thank you' and they left us alone. I felt very sad when we flew to Mombasa for our final phase but when we entered the grounds of Waterlovers beach resort, a small complex on Diani beach....WOW! Paradise. We ended our holiday snorkelling and chilling in a perfect retreat. Thank you Daniel for not disappointing and a special thank you to Peter who ensured we were happy everyday.
An unforgettable all round experience.

An incredible wildlife experience, the likes of which are unlikely to be found elsewhere
5/5

After 18 months of planning with Daniel from Transtrek Safaris we finally arrived in Kenya. We were met by our two drivers and were taken round six wildlife areas including Amboseli, Tsavo West, two rift valley lakes and the Masai Mara. All accommodation was excellent, food great, staff and drivers superb and the wildlife out of this world.
Their vehicles are built for the purpose with plenty of room, pop-up roof and capable of driving over rough terrain.
Transtrek organised the two week safari beautifully with great attention to detail at a price we were very happy with. I would highly recommend this company. I met Daniel and his family. They met up specially with us in a country club in Naivasha. We will be returning next year.

The BEST trip of our lives ! Outstanding service - outstanding company !!
5/5

We had an amazing safari thanks to Daniel and his organising plus his knowledge is unbelievable. This man is the man if you would like to organise a trip to the Masai Mara or any other trip around that area as Daniel has such vast knowledge and really gets stuck in with all the details. He was very helpful, attentive, professional, flexible and able to work with your budget. After many emails we finally decided to go with Transtrek because I found Daniel knowledgeable, approachable and open to anything we would like to do. There was never a "no I can't do that" - this is really unique to Daniel. He researches everything and knows the bush so well. After many emails negotiating price we finally had the perfect itinerary. Daniel listened to what we wanted & delivered accordingly. After a year of planning our trip became a reality and it was by far the BEST trip we have ever had!! We stayed in the Mara for a week. 3 nights at Julia's River Camp, 1 night at Basecamp Wilderness & 2 nights at Basecamp Eagles View. All 3 places we stayed at were amazing, the sounds at night, the Masai, how helpful the staff were & the food. We would highly recommend going with Daniel and you definitely wont be disappointed. He is a caring individual and has his clients best interests at heart. Thank you Daniel for an unforgettable safari in Kenya. We will definitely be back for another trip with you!!

Amazing! What an incredible experience
5/5

From our first thoughts about booking to go to Kenya and all the questions that go along with it to a phone call from Daniel on our way to the airport to travel home it was clear he was knowledgeable, caring and eager to get it right for us.
Peter our driver couldn't do enough for us going out of his way to make sure we had the best experiences. He seemed so genuinely happy for us whenever we saw something special. Don't know how he did it but he even managed to get Kilimanjaro to reveal itself when we woke up on our first morning after it was completely covered when we arrived!
The accommodation was excellent with a mixture of tents and rooms. Sitting having a birthday dinner looking over the hotel waterhole watching 13 elephants along with an array of other animals was something special. Food was very good and especially so at our final stop Basecamp.
Overall an amazing experience and we would not hesitate to recommend Transtrek to anyone.
Thank you
