Think twice before booking with Greg Adventures
Our safari experience with Greg Adventures raised serious safety concerns. What was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime turned into a nightmare.
During our trip in May 2026, which was our honeymoon for my husband and I, our group of six travelers encountered mechanical issues with the safari vehicle early in the journey. Even if a replacement vehicle was requested, none was provided. Later the same day, the vehicle was involved in a rollover accident in the Serengeti.
Two members of our group were severely injured and required medical treatment. The entire group was traumatized by the incident. We received no meaningful assistance from our driver, Prayer. There was no emergency kit available in the jeep, repeated requests for help went unanswered and we experienced significant delays in obtaining emergency assistance.
As a result of the accident, the safari ended after only one day. On top of the physical and emotional impact, our group incurred substantial unexpected expenses (medical bills, extra accommodation expenses) & losing most of the trip we had paid for. Despite this, Greg Adventures has not taken responsibility or provided reimbursement. Unfortunately, we will always remain with a bad memory of our honeymoon and we will never get this back. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend reconsidering this company if safety matters to you.

Excellent from start to finish
We did an eight-day safari which Greg tailored to our schedule. Our guide Prayer was very knowledgeable and gave us all the time we needed to stop when we found something interesting. He was personable, patient, and had a good sense of humour. He was an excellent driver, went out of his way to ensure our safety and comfort, and to make sure we saw as much wildlife as possible. Each day went smoothly and the accommodation at the end of the day was very clean and comfortable. We also did the hot air balloon safari as an add-on, which was expensive, but in my opinion well worth it. Communication with Greg was fantastic from beginning to end. He responded to messages almost immediately, and booking this safari from Australia was very straightforward. Greg Adventures was recommended to me by a well-travelled friend, and I would not hesitate in recommending this safari company to anyone considering travelling to Tanzania

5 stars with no hesitation
What an amazing experience!!! Honestly words cannot describe how incredible our two day safari was!
We got to see all different kinds of land, water animals and birds, whilst also learning more about them as every guide is extremely knowledgeable. All the workers are very kind, patient and very passionate about what they do. Our personal guide Bugusa and Nelson were absolutely incredible, we had the best shared day with them, constantly cracking jokes whilst also educating us on animals, plants used for medicine, local villages and so much more!
We got a two day safari which included food, water, accommodation, full day land safari, bush walk and a water boat safari. It was the perfect amount of time with which we came away with memories that will never be forgotten.
I would recommend this safari to literally anyone, 5 stars with zero hesitation.

Very well organized safari. We have seen a lot of animals including rhinos, lions, hyenas, giraffes, giraffes and a lot of birds. The nature is also beautiful. The lodges were comfy and especially the meals were very delicious. Its was a great experience!

Greg Adventures's driver INEXDPERIENCE
We booked a Safari Tour with Greg Adventures last May. We were assigned a driver name Prayer. We should have known better with such a name. He told us that he had 28 years experience. But after our experience, I don't believe it. The vehicle we were in is a standard transmission like all others safari vehicle. The driver had problem when he had to start from zero. It just look like he did not drive a standard transmission vehicle too much. I know what I am talking about as I have been driving one for over 17 years.
He had to stop on the way up a steep hill because of the traffic ahead of us. When we could move again, he had such problem that he blew the rear transmission. What a driver. We were stuck in the middle of a hill not able to move forward. He finally removed the shaft and we were able to move again but only with the from axel. No more 4 wheels drive, only 2.
Later on that day, we don't know exactly what happened but the vehicle flipped on its side. There was 6 of us plus the driver. Two passengers got really hurt, one with a cut of more then 12 inches long. It was bleeding a lot. Our famous driver never help with the injured people. On Greg Adventures web site, the vehicle is supposed to have a first aid kit but we never been offered it.
In addition, if you look on Greg Adventures web site, all of his drivers have their pictures and a small history of their experience. Our driver, Prayer, his picture is not there. HOW COME? He must have been an occasional driver with not too much experience. This is the type of driver Greg Adventures gave us. But what about our safety?
And to add to our adventure, Greg Adventures refuse to take any responsibility. Refuse to pay for the medicai expenses, the hotel we had to go to as we only got to the clinic after midnight and other additional cost incurred.
I would really look into it before making any reservations with GREG ADVENTURES. At your own risk.

Very professional
I discovered Greg Adventures through this website to organise our safari.
We went to Nyerere for 2 days 1 night and everything was perfect. Bougoussa our guide was very kind, responding to our requests and showed us all the animals. The lodge: Nyerere Tented camp was very beautiful! We really loved the experience!
We appreciated so much their service that we asked them to help us organise the whole tailored trip to Zanzibar.
Herieth was very reactive and helpful.
I recommend this travel agent 100%

Don't trust Greg Adventures
If you are thinking about booking a Safari Tour, you should avoid booking with Greg Adventures as they are irresponsible. We went on a safari tour with them and we had an accident. Greg denied any responsibility even if it was his driver and his vehicle. This outfit is not reliable. So be very careful before you book a tour with them. You might be in trouble if you do so. I would suggest you book with another tour operator.
Amazing operator for Kilimandscharo Hikes!
We cannot recommend Greg Adventures highly enough! Our 6-day Kilimanjaro trek was perfectly organized from start to finish and offered outstanding value for money.
Our guides were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and motivating. Throughout the trek, they shared so much interesting information about Kilimanjaro, its flora and fauna, and the local culture. They genuinely cared about our well-being and safety every single day, and you could tell they wanted everyone in the group to have the best possible experience.
A special thank you also goes to our chef—the food was absolutely delicious and honestly better than some of the meals we had before and after the trek. Every member of the team, including the porters, was kind, hardworking, and always smiling. The positive atmosphere they created made this adventure even more special.
Thanks to their excellent guidance, careful attention to acclimatization, and constant encouragement, we successfully reached the summit while feeling safe and well looked after throughout the entire climb.
What we especially appreciated was supporting a smaller local company. By choosing Greg Adventures, you’re directly supporting a dedicated local team while receiving a very personal, high-quality experience.
Thank you to everyone at Greg Adventures for an unforgettable adventure. If you’re planning to climb Kilimanjaro, we wholeheartedly recommend booking with them—we would choose them again without hesitation!

Bad experience with Greg Adventures
We were scheduled on a 3 days safari tour with Greg Adventures.
On May 19, 2026, while exiting the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the safari vehicle suffered a mechanical failure, causing a delay of over two hours. Despite clear concerns regarding roadworthiness, the vehicle was not replaced.
Later that same day, while traveling within the Serengeti National Park, the vehicle lost control and overturned.
As a result:
Two passengers sustained significant injuries, including:
Deep lacerations requiring more than 20 stitches
Three fractured ribs and head injury
All passengers were exposed to significant risk and experienced trauma as a result of the accident
Following the accident, the driver:
Failed to assess or verify the condition of passengers
Failed to provide or offer first aid
Failed to activate timely emergency response procedures
Passengers were forced to administer emergency care themselves, including controlling severe bleeding, until rangers and ambulance services arrived approximately two hours later.
No effective use of basic safety equipment or emergency preparedness measures was observed.
These failures constitute, in our view, a serious breach of the duty of care expected of a licensed safari operator.
As a direct consequence of the incident:
The safari was terminated at the end of the first day, and services were not delivered (accommodation, meals, etc.).
Injured passengers required urgent medical treatment and were unable to continue travel. Therefore, it was not possible to travel the following day to reach an alternative accommodation.
Due to the remote location and late hour, we incurred unavoidable accommodation costs (USD $500 per room for the first night and $750 USD for the second night), in addition to medical and related expenses.
The police report contains material inaccuracies, including:
Incorrect date of the accident
Incorrect number of passengers
Mischaracterization of injuries as "minor"
Passenger statements were not collected, and the report appears to rely solely on the driver's account
These issues raise concerns regarding accuracy, transparency, and proper incident documentation.
So be aware of this incident before booking a safari tour with Greg Adventures.
