Well-organised and extemely enjoyable safari!
5/5

Shemeji were at all times extremely helpful in planning our safari trip. Our guide, Benny, was excellent; exceedingly knowledgeable, friendly, patient and we really felt he took us to the best places to see the animals away from the other safari trucks. The camps all worked really well and we enjoyed the variety and changing scenery of the trip. We couldn’t recommend Shemeji more for anyone looking to go on safari. They were excellent in every possible way.

Our first ever safari…. When can we go back!!
5/5

We have nothing to compare it to as it was our first. But we had an amazing time and experience. Emma at Shemeji was quick and took time to respond to our numerous silly questions, and the reply’s were always prompt. Largely gave us a tailored experience to our needs. The price we thought was fair and good value, it was in our budget, others didn’t seem to incorporate as much as our experience did, yet cost much more.

The choice of lodges the company uses are outstanding. Some the lodge itself made the experience, but I know 2 of the lodges we stayed at, were not only amazing, but the staff at the lodges really made that part of the experience stand out, in as much of our memories as the animals. Meeting the local people, being shown their hospitality and service they provided, and the warmth and friendship they showed us, gave a lasting memory.

Now the safari itself. I never think on topics like this its good for people to compare experiences, however, if I must, yes we saw the big 5! I think we just about saw everything. I cant think of an animal we didn’t see. Some were incredibly close, some quite far. Its wildlife, you cant plan it. As a young couple we loved our 5 day safari, in fact if anything we should of done 6 days so we would have had longer in Serengeti. I loved this holiday. I highly recommend firstly a safari, and secondly using Shemeji. The only down side we have, is now having to pick the best photos out of thousands of great photos to post on FB!

Wonderful 7 day Safari
5/5

We had a wonderful 7 day safari private tour with Shemeji Safari. Everything exceeded our expectations. We were on a budget, but luxury-on-a budget is what we got. Our guide Edward was excellent, he suited our easy going style and made us feel like family. The food and accommodation was exceptional and we loved the hut and tented accommodation. All the arrangements appeared seamless to us, but we know that this is because of all the hard work that goes on from the start so a special thanks to Emma.

A trip of a lifetime
5/5

We had an amazing 2 weeks in Tanzania thanks to Shemeji and their staff. From being greeted at the airport upon our arrival by Frank in Mt. Kilimanjaro to getting dropped off 2 weeks later in Zanzibar, we had full confidence in Shemeji.
- Emma was very accommodating during the booking process, we had a hundred questions since this was our first safari trip and she promptly answered every one. She also had no problem adapting the itinerary to our personal needs(including last minute flight changes). After everything was figured out, we couldn't believe how good of a deal the trip was.
- Edward is an incredible driver, and the best tour guide. He knows all the parks like the back of his hand and will find whatever animal you're looking for. He's also very knowledgeable about whatever you see -- birds, mammals, plants, etc. If he doesn't know what you spotted he'll eagerly look it up in a book to learn about it. He's also kind, funny and helpful. Which are all important since you'll be spending a lot of time with this person over the course of your trip.
- Godson is an amazing chef and fed us incredible vegan food every day for 3 meals a day. Having a dietary restriction had us a little concerned about a trip like this. But Godson had no problem with our vegan diet. He made delicious meals every day. Our only "problem" was that there was too much food. We were full at every meal. That was not what we expected from this trip and we loved it. He's also a sweet person and made for great company on the trip as well.
- Our accommodations were all great. From the campgrounds, to hotels and lodges. It was quite a sampling of different areas and types of places to stay in Tanzania.

We wandered Arusha, swam with dolphins in the Indian Ocean, got woken up by hyenas, and saw about 70 lions on safari(along with cheetahs, leopards, elephants and everything else we wanted to see!) while visiting 5 national parks and conservation areas.
Thanks Shemeji!

fantastic tour - excellent organization and a super guide
5/5

We had a fantastic tour and visited all the famous national parks of the Northern circuit: Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. The organization and communication with Shemeji was very good, friendly and uncomplicated. We had a super good guide, named Allan Richard, who was very attentive, everything well organized on the spots, had a good view for animals and even spoke German. Thank you very much! We were and are thrilled. The experiences are unforgettable for us.

The best Safari company
5/5

Our safari with Shemeji was fantastic! Our guide Ely was the best. I don't know how he did it, but we were always on the spot where the animals were. He also managed to get our car in the best position, so we could have a front row view. He knew a lot about the animals and was able to answer all our questions. We even saw a lion eating a prey at maybe 5 to 10 meters distance! Still felt very safe alll the time.
Our cook was also fantastic. He was so creative with the food. We are both vegetarian and always had a very good meal. It wa funny to see how all the guests get popcorn before dinner and our plate was always the biggest in comparison with the other guests.
The communication with Emma was smooth and she arranged eveything fine. We could even store our big backpags at her home, so we only had to carry a small bag.
I would recommend doing the camping. Especially camping in the Serengeti was very special, because you just sleep in the middle of the park, hearing all the animal sounds at night.
Summed up, it was one of the best experiences we had in our trip and I defenitely recommend going with Shemeji safari!

wonderful 8-day-safari tour
5/5

summary:
-> exceeded all our expectations!
- Well-prepared Safari tour
- good cars and equipment
- excellent guide and chef, who really want to make the best of your trip
- good knowleadge of animals and landscape

We had a really wonderful safari tour with Shemeji. We did a 8-day tour from the end of September to October and visited the following National Parks: Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Arusha NP. On a additional day we went to the beautiful hot springs near Arusha and did a half day hiking tour to some nice waterfalls in the forest (also with shemeji).
The Safari in itself was well-prepared and good-equipped. We were really lucky with our perfect guide Freddy. He has a good sense to find hidden animals and was very good company for us. It was a perfect mix of staying in a "crowded area" to see some highlights very close and driving through remote area and spot cheetah, lion and elefant just on our one. These quiet moments were the best time on safari. Once we could spot a group of 15 elephants (with small children) for over 45 minutes on our one and Freddy did no pressure. In total we have seen so many animals and much closer than expected. Big herds of antelopes, buffalo, zebra, flamingos and also elefant, leopard, giraffe, hippo and many many lions........
We had a good mix of accommodation (tent, tended camp, lodge, hotel) and enjoyed most the camping in Serengeti and on the rim of Ngorongoro crater. Our chef Patrick was great and he cooked always a 3-course dinner for us. The dinner together with our guide Freddy was nice and we had good talks. We had also lovely snacks for lunch every day. We have seen big safari groups and they had just a prefabricated lunch box like on a airplane.
Organizing the tour with the company was easy going. Emma was very helpful and tried to include all our wishes. She is from Europe, but lives in Tanzania, therefore she knows the european demands and standards very well.

Safari Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro
5/5

Last week I went on a safari with Shemeji Safari & Tours. In 4 days we visited Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. In my opinion the perfect amount of days to visit these parcs. We started at Tarangire. It is a 2 hour drive from Arusha. The whole first day we went on game drive in Tarangire. We saw a lot of animals like elephants, zebras and baboons. Our guide knew a lot about the animals. So we learned a lot from him and we were free to ask every question we liked. That night we slept in luxury tents with beds outside Tarangire. A good campsite with hot showers. The next morning we drove to Serengeti. It is a long drive but we saw a lot on the way to Serengeti because you have to pass by Ngorongoro to get there. It is a beautiful drive. That night and the next morning we did game drives in Serengeti. We saw a lot of special animals like lions and cheetahs. The campsite in Serengeti is simple but it is very cool to sleep in the centre of the Serengeti. Everyday the cook made food for us. Every meal was delicious and enough for everyone. On the last day we visited Ngorongoro. It is very cold in this parc so you need a lot of warm clothes but it is worth it. Also this campsite was simple but on a beautiful hill, very cosy and with zebras next to our tents! In short we had an amazing safari with Shemeji Safari & Tours. The driver and cook were very friendly and showed us a beautiful piece of Africa in four days!
