Tailormade and very good in communication
5/5

Our first safari and we are so glad we choose Makasa! Everything was 5-star. From the beginning a very good communication. They made a perfect talormade planning of our trip. The fact that they have their own drivers was very important to us. Our driver/guide Kelvin was so professional and we also had soo much fun together. He is an expert in spotting the animals and we saw them all. Thanks Makasa for everything, best experience ever!

For the second time with Makasa and fantastic again!!!
5/5

For the second time with Makasa and fantastic again!!!

In 2024, together with my three teenagers, I took a wonderful two-week trip through Tanzania with Makasa. For my boys and me, that was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I have since been to Tanzania five times: that first special trip with my boys and the other four trips together with my partner.

During our most recent trip, my partner and I decided just two weeks before departure that we would actually like to go on a short safari. Because of my amazing experience in 2024, I immediately contacted Makasa again. Despite the high season and the short preparation time, they put together a fantastic 6-day, 5-night safari for us.

From Arusha, we first drove to Ol Doinyo Lengai and Lake Natron. The vast landscapes, Maasai villages, flamingos, and Lake Natron made a huge impression. The hike to the waterfalls with a Maasai guide was also absolutely worthwhile.

Afterwards, we drove via a beautiful northern route to the north of the Serengeti. We stayed two nights at Kimbilio Bologonja, a nice and small-scale camp, and then one night at Lobo, which was a bit more luxurious and in a beautiful location. Both accommodations were very welcoming, with incredibly friendly staff, delicious food, and comfortable safari tents. And after a long day on safari, a hot shower in the middle of the Serengeti was wonderful!

Our guide, Humphrey, made a very important contribution to this trip. A fantastic guide: professional, with immense knowledge of animals and nature, a great sense of humor, and above all, a wonderful positive energy. With him, we went in search of the famous Great Migration – and what an experience!

Despite the high season, Humphrey consistently managed to find routes where we hardly encountered any other jeeps. We regularly drove through the endless Serengeti with the feeling that we were completely alone. That true "Out of Africa" feeling was one of the most beautiful parts of this safari for us.

Organizationally, everything was also perfectly arranged from A to Z. When we were unable to arrange our flight from the Serengeti ourselves, Selma from Makasa acted incredibly fast and ensured it was arranged after all.

By now, we have visited many different national parks in Tanzania and gained experience with multiple organizations. That is precisely why I can say with conviction that Makasa was the best choice for us: personal, reliable, professional, and flexible.

After my fantastic experience in 2024, my expectations were high. The fact that Makasa has given us such a special trip again—and with just two weeks of preparation time during the high season—says it all.

Highly recommended. I can't wait to plan something wonderful in Tanzania with Makasa again in the future!!!

Nakupenda Tanzania! (I Love Tanzania)
5/5

Jambo! Thanks to Makasa, we have just completed a fantastic family trip with children aged 9 and 12 (July 31 to Aug. 17, 2026) and look back on it with immense pleasure. From the first contact to the end of the trip, everything was very well organized. The trip was well put together with the desired combination of culture, nature, wildlife, and relaxation.

From the visit to the Chagga and the Maasai, the impressive Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti, the amazing balloon safari, and the river crossing, to our stay on Zanzibar – every place and every experience was so special. We highly recommend Osiligilai Maasai Lodge. What a fantastic choice! The welcome, the culture, the surroundings, and the experience were truly a highlight for us and, as far as we are concerned, an indispensable part of a trip through Tanzania. Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge was also an excellent choice. The location is truly beautiful and makes the stay extra special. In terms of luxury and comfort, we also found Ameg Lodge to be exactly what we were looking for.

A minor point of attention was that we found some accommodations, particularly in Karatu, to be a bit disappointing. We also found the tented camps to be on the cramped side, but the hospitality and food were fantastic!! Given the total cost of the trip, we had expected just a little more luxury, space, and comfort at these latter locations. That being said, the entire trip itself was unforgettable, and we experienced so many beautiful moments. Tanzania has stolen our hearts, and Makasa and our guide Medi made a major contribution to this special journey.

A big thank you to Makasa, Medi, and everyone behind the scenes for this unforgettable family trip! We would definitely recommend Makasa, with the tip to be extra critical when planning the trip regarding the level of luxury and space of the accommodations.

Our dream safari with Makasa!
5/5

Our safari with Makasa was absolutely exceptional from start to finish!

This was a special birthday gift for my wife and we couldn't have chosen a better Safari company to go with :)

The entire package was incredibly well organised, every detail was thoughtfully planned, and it was clear that customer satisfaction was their top priority.

A special thank you to Selma and Zara, who were both incredibly helpful, responsive, and accomodating throughout the entire process. Their attention to detail and willingness to assist with every question made planning the trip effortless.

The 3 day safari exceeded all expectations! Our first 2 days in the Tarangire were simply incredible, we saw loads of elephants, giraffes, and much more! We stayed at the Simba Lodge inside the park, surrounded by friendly waterbucks and warthogs. On the third day we drove into the Ngorongoro crater, and that was breathtaking!

Our driver and guide, Robert was outstanding and his knowledge of the wildlife, ability to spot animals, and passion for conservation made every drive both exciting and educational. We saw so much more than we ever imagined, thanks to his expertise.

To top it all off, our onward connection to Zanzibar, also organised by Makasa, was perfectly organised. It was the perfect segway in our holiday, where we swapped our safari clothes and boots for our swimsuits and slippers!

The entire team at Makasa delivered an unforgettable adventure with outstanding service at every stage. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a truly world-class safari experience and can't wait to travel with them again!

Amazing guides!
5/5

A huge thank you to Éric and Julius for this safari in their company, a well-deserved 5 stars!
Makasa's strength lies in connecting you with a perfect local team. Éric, our French-speaking guide, was passionate, knowledgeable, and friendly. Julius, the driver, was really kind and very skilled at finding the best spots to observe the animals.
The lodges offered were good, especially the Kimbilio tented camp, with a truly wonderful team. During our stay at this camp, the Makasa owners were present but didn't show much warmth, they didn't take the time to welcome us.
Choose Makasa for its local teams, who are truly excellent and deserve working! Makasa should invest in a new vehicle for Julius, he deserves it, and it would be more comfortable for travelers. We hope you'll have the chance to be guided by Éric in French or English, it will be a wonderful experience for you!

An Unforgettable Tanzanian Safari Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
5/5

We had an incredible safari experience with Makasa Safari, and I couldn't recommend them more.

A special thank you to Zara, who patiently helped design our itinerary and was always quick to assist whenever we had questions or needed help before and during the trip.

Our guide, Mosses, was simply outstanding. His knowledge, experience, and incredible spotting skills made all the difference. Thanks to him, we completed the Big Five, including two leopard sightings! Beyond finding wildlife, he was thoughtful, patient, and always made sure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment.

The hot air balloon experience with Miracle Experience was also unforgettable. Seeing the vast Serengeti from above at sunrise was truly breathtaking and one of the highlights of our trip.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his family at Kimbilio Tented Camp. They were so warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do, which made the experience even more special.

From planning to the final game drive, everything was well organized and professionally handled. If you're looking for an authentic Tanzanian safari with people who truly care about their guests, Makasa Safari is an excellent choice.

Thank you for creating memories that will last a lifetime!

Friendly, Comprehensive & Beautiful Experience
5/5

Our trip through Makasa was incredible. I had contacted them with a general outline of what we were looking for and the dates we wanted to go. I was overwhelmed with thinking about how to organize such a trip and they came back to me in just a day with a full itinerary and potential accommodations. They made the process very easy and the link to a personalized website illustrating everything was very helpful. This helped minimize the back and forth because the information was very comprehensive. In just a few email exchanges with some adjustments it was done. We ended up visiting the Masai, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Ndutu & Serengeti, then flew to Zanzibar. Our safari guide, Robert, was very friendly and a father himself so he knew how to engage or step back depending on how we were feeling. We had just one miscommunication with a transfer but having Selma, the founder, as our local contact meant it was managed relatively quickly.

Unforgettable Safari experience
5/5

Our recent safari experience in Tanzania organised by MAKASA was truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. From the moment we arrived at the national park, everything exceeded our expectations. Exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Ngorongoro crater, Ndutu plains, Tarangire, and witnessing wildlife in their natural habitat was both humbling and unforgettable.
We were incredibly fortunate to see such an amazing variety of animals up close — including lions, elephants, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, and many more. Watching these magnificent creatures roam freely across the plains was something we had only dreamed of before this trip. We also watched the great migration of Wildebeasts. Every game drive brought a new surprise and left us in awe of nature’s beauty.

What made this journey even more special was our guide, Kelvin. His knowledge, professionalism, and passion for wildlife truly made all the difference. He had an incredible ability to spot animals from afar and positioned us perfectly for the best views and photos. More than that, he made us feel safe, comfortable, and excited every single day. He truly played a huge roll in our safari experience and made our safari vacation a unique lifetime memory that we will cherish forever. We highly recommend this experience to anyone who dreams of adventure, nature, and extraordinary moments.
