Very responsible and customer centric
Our interactions with Joseph was very pleasant and he guided us properly to understand the ground realities and helped plan accordingly.
Once we reached Nairobi, we were met by him at the airport and we met our driver cum guid Chris. Chris himself is passionate about wildlife and did everything to make sure we get to see the big five up close and plenty.
He was tireless for all the five whole days of game drive and we covered distance inside the jungle. Whenever he heard of spotting, he rushed to the place of action. The stays were comfortable and hotels were decent albeit expensive.
The only thing which could be avoided was the Masai village visit, which is purely a money making endeavour.
Overall, Extra Miles made sure we had one of our memorable holidays.

very nice :)
We had a wonderful safari in the Masai Mara – the organization, pre-trip communication, service, and reliability were excellent. The value for money and the overall experience were absolutely convincing.
One point that is especially important to us: we want to emphasize how crucial sustainability is for preserving this unique natural reserve. This also means avoiding off-road driving. We understand that it can be tempting to get closer to the animals, but this is exactly why all travelers should actively remind their guides to respect the rules. Only in this way can we ensure that both wildlife and landscape are protected in the long term, so that future generations can enjoy this beauty as well.
Overall, an unforgettable safari that we can highly recommend – with the heartfelt request to always keep the protection of the Masai Mara in mind.

Fascinating 4 days in Masai Mara, cannot expect more!
It's our first african trip and I did tons of research not to be scammed. Among over 50 travel agency I have contacted, extra miles became our final choice. Why ? first of course is their competitve quote. I picked all hotels in the trip so easily to compare the price between different vendors, extra miles is the only one who gave me detailed cost breakdown (accommodation / transportion / park fees) . But the real important thing which push me to make final decision is Joseph's professionalism and enthusiasmn in communication: He quickly responded all my questions with personalized, extensive suggestions. NOT a chatgpt answer I got from other agents. And he catered to all my requirepemnts like booking the flight directly and even help me to contact the hotels I booked myself. His prompt service didn't drop after we paid the deposit and everything went smoothly all the way to our arrival in Naroibi airport. YOU ARE THE BEST, JOSEPH!
Our driver Simon , performed another good job in Masa mara. He always actively searched for animals for us and patienly answered our questions. It was raining heavily late afternoon everyday during our stay and road was very muddy. Thanks for Simon' excellent driving skills, we didn't get any trouble and saw all the animals we expect to see , including a leopard climing down from the tree with a impala !
I would sincerely suggest everyone who read this review, send them a email to show your interest in east africa , and you definitely won't be disappointed !

Truly Went the Extra Mile!
We had an unforgettable African safari experience with Extra Miles in Nairobi! I went with a group of girlfriends, and the whole trip was planned beautifully from start to finish. They truly lived up to their name — going the extra mile to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Our local tour guide and driver were so knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible — they made our journey even more special. One of the highlights was the hot air balloon safari, which we decided to do at the very last minute. Extra Miles somehow made it happen with barely any notice. We were so impressed!
Highly recommend Extra Miles to anyone looking for a personalised, stress-free, and memorable safari in Africa. Absolutely worth it!

A Perfect Safari Journey with Extra Miles Unique Adventures
Among the 30+ local tour operators I contacted, I chose Extra Miles because of Joseph’s professionalism, enthusiasm, and patience—and it proved to be the right decision. Joseph, Fred, Felix, and the entire Extra Miles team made this trip absolutely perfect.
We booked the itinerary a year in advance, and after paying the deposit, Joseph’s attentiveness never wavered. He promptly answered all our questions and resolved any issues, consistently confirming details with us before the trip. When he noticed our late-night flight arrival, he even went out of his way to pick us up from the airport at midnight and escort us to our hotel. Throughout the trip, he checked in daily to ensure we were enjoying ourselves, always prioritizing our experience.
Our first stop, Amboseli, was a perfect appetizer. The hotel choice, Eleai, offered the best view of Kilimanjaro. Our guide, Felix, was incredibly punctual with top-notch driving skills and led us to a stunning spot where elephants and the snow-capped mountain aligned perfectly.
The Masai Mara leg was even more spectacular. Calling Fred the best guide in Kenya is no exaggeration. Even during non-safari drives, he shared rich cultural insights, deepening our understanding of Kenya. The vehicle was top-tier, with large windows and a canopy ensuring every seat had a prime view. Knowing we were big cat enthusiasts, Fred took us to see three cheetahs and countless lions in a single day, including an adult male lion casually lounging beside our vehicle to cool off. For every animal we encountered, Fred provided detailed explanations of their behaviors and traits, patiently answering our questions without a hint of impatience. His deep knowledge allowed him to anticipate animal movements, positioning us for the best viewing and photography opportunities.
The final stop at Crescent Island was the perfect conclusion. Joseph thoughtfully included a lunch at Naivasha Sopa, where we experienced this unique hotel and spotted Rothchild’s giraffes. Remarkably, during our boat tour after the Crescent Island hike, we encountered rain in the dry season, making our journey even more unique.
In short, this was a flawless trip, and no words can fully express our gratitude. The next time we go on a safari, we will undoubtedly choose Extra Miles again!

Being threatened and kidnapped! What a terrible experience! I am a victim!
My mom and I spent $10,000 on the trip, not including airfare. We booked a 12-day luxury tour in Kenya and Tanzania. They were so annoying along the way, making faces, robbing, and threatening our lives. It felt like they had no reason to rob us of our money.
Some of the hotels they booked for us were very ordinary. Silas threw us to the other two tour guides and sent messages throughout the trip. They were not two tour guides, but just two drivers. The tour guide in Kenya, Chris, changed his face from the moment he left Kenya. I didn't give him a lot of tips at first because I exchanged all my beauty coins for county magistrates. Then he made faces along the way. To be honest, I felt that I was providing him with emotional value along the way instead of the other way around.
Tanzania was even more exaggerated. They took us to the Maasai village. At first, they said it was 100 US dollars per person. Later, when we got off the car, the chief said it was 100 US dollars per person. I said we would not go there. We took some photos in the valley (no photos of people). As a result, they threatened us that this place was theirs and we could not take photos. We went to get in the car. When we got in, they stopped us and asked how much money we had. I wanted to close the door, but they said they would not let us. Is this robbery in broad daylight?
Then Silas told the tour guide Micheal that there was a 10 US dollar tip per person per day. I gave him a shilling and he said what was this? To send away beggars? I said I didn’t have that much US dollars and he said you go get it.
On the way back to Kenya, we were asked to change to another black car. We thought we were kidnapped and almost called the police because Silas said there was no such arrangement.
If you want to ruin your vacation, choose them. Robbers! 0 experience!

We have read your review with deep concern and disappointment. While we appreciate all forms of feedback from our clients, we must categorically and firmly respond to the serious accusations and misinformation presented in your statements.
1. False Allegations of Threats and Robbery
Your claims of being threatened, robbed, and even kidnapped are extremely serious and damaging. However, we must state unequivocally that these allegations are false and without basis. At no point during your 12-day safari in Kenya and Tanzania was any incident of robbery or threat reported to our team, local authorities, or any tourism body. All scheduled services — including accommodation, park entry fees, game drives, and transfers — were delivered exactly as agreed upon in your confirmed itinerary.
2. Professional Conduct of Our Guides
You mentioned that our guides were “just drivers” and acted unprofessionally. This is not only inaccurate but also disrespectful. Our guides are highly qualified, fully licensed tourism professionals who undergo strict training and comply with national park regulations in both Kenya and Tanzania. The fact that you successfully visited every park and hotel as scheduled — without getting lost or missing any activity — is proof of their competence. It is misleading to diminish their professionalism by reducing them to “just drivers.”
3. Unwarranted Personal Attacks and Miscommunication
Referring to our guide by a derogatory term is deeply inappropriate. Tipping is entirely discretionary and should never be used as justification to demean someone's character. If there was any miscommunication, we encourage respectful dialogue — but it must be two-way. Throughout your trip, there were no complaints raised regarding missed experiences, late departures, or poor conduct, which further questions the validity of your sudden outburst post-tour.
4. The Maasai Village Visit Incident
The visit to the Maasai village was not part of your original itinerary. It was arranged locally, independently from the office, and our records show you had the option to participate or decline — which you did. Additionally, taking photographs in culturally sensitive areas without permission is against commonly known etiquette, and we always inform our guests about such protocols in the pre-departure guide. If you felt mistreated, it should have been reported immediately so it could be formally investigated.
5. Claims of “Kidnapping” and Vehicle Switch
Your allegation of nearly being kidnapped is not only false but borders on defamation. At no point were you transported in a black vehicle provided by us. The entire transfer from Tanzania to the Namanga border was handled by our licensed silver van, with Michael — your assigned Tanzanian guide — accompanying you throughout. All vehicles used during your tour were registered tourism vehicles:
• Kenya Landcruiser: KCY 188A
• Tanzania Landcruiser: T118 CHW
• Transfer Van: Silver, licensed tourism vehicle
If indeed you boarded a "black car," we kindly ask that you provide the vehicle’s registration number so that we can launch an immediate investigation with the authorities. However, according to our records and your assigned guide’s itinerary, there was no such switch or unauthorized vehicle use.
6. Our Standards and Reputation
We are a registered and licensed tour operator operating under the strict regulations of both Kenyan and Tanzanian tourism authorities. Our long-standing record of client satisfaction, as reflected in numerous positive reviews, stands in stark contrast to your accusations. We take our duty of care seriously and treat all clients with utmost professionalism, dignity, and respect.
Thank you.

super caring and helpful
I knew from the beginning that they were to be the guides for my safari trip to Kenya. They have been flexible, careful and attentive to every detail. In terms of prices, I think they balance very well the cost/benefit of their proposals.
During the trip, they were on top of me every day to know how I was doing.
Some point of improvement: the vehicle was a little behind others we have seen, which made the trips (many are very long) slower and suffered by so much movement. it lacked power to face the climbs and the overtakes to other cars with more ease.
I recommend them 100%.

Highly recommend Extra Miles
Emailed multiple companies looking for 7 day tour and Extra Miles had the best deal based on accomodations, price, and parks. Very good communication from the very beginning asking for quote, making changes, clarifying things, payment, leading up to the trip, and arrival at Nairobi airport and getting to our first hotel. Sam was an amazing tour guide and we got to see many different animals. Each park was very unique. Unforgettable experience.
