A TrA truly Bespoke and Unforgettable Family Experience in Kenyan Wildlife
We are a family of four (2 adults, a 5-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son), and this Kenya safari was an absolutely exceptional, thoughtfully curated experience, perfectly suited for a family traveling with young children.
The tour operator James went above and beyond to create a bespoke itinerary, balancing comfort, flexibility, and incredible wildlife encounters.
Our stay at Zebra Plain River Boutique Camp in Masai Mara was truly outstanding and deserves special mention. The experience here felt highly personalized, with customised lunch and dinner options and special care and genuine warmth shown towards our children, which made us feel completely at home. From our luxury tent, we were delighted to spot giraffes, zebras, and even hyenas, a magical experience for our kids.
The Masai Mara game drives were nothing short of spectacular. We witnessed unforgettable moments including lion sightings, a lion kill, a cheetah kill, a hyena kill, the elusive leopard, elephant herd crossings, elephants enjoying a mud bath, the truly gigantic hippos, Nile crocodiles, along with beautiful zebra herds and graceful giraffe sightings throughout the Mara.
Lake Nakuru National Park was another major highlight. In addition to seeing rhinos up close and witnessing an incredible rhino crossing, we were captivated by the beautiful giraffes of Lake Nakuru, which added a serene and elegant touch to the experience.
Our stay at Ol Pejeta Serena Sweetwaters was equally memorable. The luxury tent accommodation was superb, and spotting white rhinos up close right from our tent, along with excellent rhino sightings within Ol Pejeta Conservancy, was truly special.
A very special and emotional highlight of our trip was our visit to Baraka, the blind black rhino, and meeting Najin and Fatu — the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world — at Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This once-in-a-lifetime experience was deeply moving and educational, especially for our children, and gave us a profound appreciation for wildlife conservation.
Above all, a heartfelt thank-you to our guides, John and Julius, who felt more like friends than guides. Their deep wildlife knowledge, sharp spotting skills, patience, and genuine care — especially towards our children — made every game drive relaxed, safe, and enjoyable. The conversations about culture, nature, wildlife, food with them was remarkable. They truly became a special part of our family’s journey.

“We had an unforgettable safari experience in Kenya, thanks to our incredible guide! He was more than just a guide - he was a photographer, a historian, and a wildlife expert all rolled into one. Not only did he help us spot the Big 5, but also introduced us to the ‘5 Ugly’ (we loved them!) and so much more! His expertise and knowledge of the area’s history and geography made the experience truly meaningful. We got amazing photos, and he even took care of our meals - lunch and dinner were delicious! Excellent guide and driver
We had an amazing 7-day trip to Kenya, booked through James, and our tour guide and driver was Kalib. He is truly the best person to have for a memorable trip in Kenya.
Our journey began in Nairobi and continued to the breathtaking Maasai Mara. Throughout the trip, Kalib showed us an incredible range of wildlife — rhinos, all the Big Five, the Big Cats, the Ugly Five, and many more animals. He even took the effort and risk to show us lions hunting and cheetahs hunting, which was an unforgettable experience.
Kalib also explained in detail about the animals’ lifestyles, their varieties, and the geography of Kenya and the Maasai Mara. His knowledge, passion, friendliness, and enthusiasm made our trip truly special.
We definitely had a great time and are looking forward to recommending him to our friends in the future. Thank you, Kalib, for making our Kenya trip so amazing!

Pleasant, Skillful, and safe driver
1. Guide: Joseph is pleasant guide, 5/5! A skillful and careful driver on the road. He is skillful in game drive at Ambosseli National Park too, especially on spotting animals instead of relying just on radios. He uses both. He is reliable, flexible and always on time. The 4x4 Land Cruiser was kept clean everyday and water bottles are provided everyday. Joseph would also try avoiding driving directly behind other vehicles to avoid dust and smoke. (It gets super dusty both on the road and during game drive, and no Air Conditioning.)
2. Lodging: We stayed at Sentrim Ambosseli. Staff were pleasant, food was great with a number of choices of local/Western international/Indian delicacies. 4/5 for shower/toilet in the room due to water pressure and cleanliness in need of improvement. Great view of Kilimanjaro.
3. We booked our whole trip (Masai Mara- Lake Nakuru-Ambosseli) with Axis Safari but when we were in Lake Nakuru, we transferred to Joseph's 4x4. So, I am unsure which company is which, as all tourists in the 4x4 booked with a different operator. Nonetheless, it was a pleasant closure to have Joseph as our guide in Ambosseli.

Very Knowledgeable
I recently travelled to the Maasai Mara and was lucky enough to have Samuel Chege as my driver and guide. He is very committed and knowledgeable. He explains details of every animal or bird you come across. Very friendly and jovial.I recommend him and the company at large.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
