An Unforgettable Uganda Safari Experience – Exceptional Service, Personal Attention
5/5

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with The Shuttle Hospitality during our six-day trip to Uganda, which included chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park, gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and several opportunities to discover Uganda’s culture and local communities. From the initial planning stages to our final airport transfer, everything was thoughtfully organized, and we felt incredibly well taken care of throughout the entire trip. We would wholeheartedly recommend The Shuttle Hospitality to anyone looking for a personalized, seamless, and memorable safari experience in Uganda.

Bob, the owner, was exceptional from beginning to end. He was always incredibly responsive, attentive, and willing to listen to our needs and preferences. Rather than simply offering us a standard package, he carefully crafted our itinerary around the type of experience we wanted. We really appreciated the time and effort he put into understanding what mattered to us and making sure the trip reflected that. His attention to detail was evident throughout the entire journey.

One particularly thoughtful touch was that Bob personally came to welcome us at the airport when we arrived in Uganda in the middle of the night! We also received a lovely surprise honeymoon cake, which was such a sweet and unexpected gesture. These little details really show how much Bob cares about his guests and the experiences he creates for them.

The airport arrangements were also excellent. Bob organized an "airport meet-and-greet service", with a representative escorting us through immigration and passport control, and accompanying us until we met our driver. After a long international flight, having someone take care of everything made our arrival so much smoother and more relaxing. It was a great example of the thoughtfulness and organization that characterized the whole trip.

Francis, our driver and guide, was equally outstanding and deserves a special mention. He was knowledgeable, professional, attentive, considerate, and fun to travel with. He was always on top of everything and quickly understood the kind of experiences we were hoping to have. We felt completely comfortable with him and knew we could count on him throughout the journey. He went beyond simply driving us from one destination to another; he genuinely contributed to making the trip special.

Francis also had a wonderful eye for the little things that make a journey memorable. Thanks to him, we got to taste the famous Rolex (rolled eggs), Uganda’s beloved street-food wrap, which was such a fun and delicious experience! We also really appreciated how he took photos and videos of us along the way and shared them with us afterward. We love photography and enjoy documenting our travels to create videos and photo albums, so this thoughtful gesture meant a lot to us. It was something we particularly appreciated and did not see other drivers doing with their customers. Having those additional memories to look back on was a lovely bonus.

Another example of Francis’s attentiveness was his effort to help us spot a chameleon, something we were really hoping to see. He took us to a women’s community initiative where two chameleons had been spotted, giving us the opportunity to see them while also discovering something much more meaningful.

Visiting the women’s community was one of the lovely unexpected highlights of our trip. We were impressed by the work being done there to support women in the local community, and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to learn about their activities and initiatives. We ended up buying some delicious coffee beans from them, making the visit even more memorable. We especially appreciated that Francis understood our interests and found a way to combine our love of wildlife with an authentic opportunity to learn about local life.

Of course, the main highlights of our Uganda adventure were chimpanzee tracking in Kibale and mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Both were extraordinary wildlife experiences, and having the logistics, transportation, and itinerary so well organized allowed us to focus on enjoying every moment. The accommodation arrangements, transfers between destinations, and overall coordination made the journey feel smooth and well planned. We also appreciated the private nature of the safari and the flexibility to enjoy experiences tailored to our interests.

If we had one piece of constructive feedback, it would concern the Bigodi community walk. We absolutely value community-based tourism and understand the importance of ensuring that local people benefit directly from visitors. However, during the walk, we stopped at several different people and activities, including coffee making, a banana-related demonstration, and a local shop. At each stop, there seemed to be an expectation that we would provide an individual tip. While we were happy to support the community, the repeated tipping expectations became a little uncomfortable and made parts of the experience feel more transactional than we had anticipated.

We would have much preferred a system in which a single community contribution or tip could be made at the end and then shared fairly among everyone involved. That would have allowed us to support the community while enjoying the experience without feeling that we were expected to tip at every stop. This is a small but worthwhile area for improvement, as a clearer explanation of the tipping arrangements beforehand, or a collective tipping system, could make the experience more enjoyable for future visitors.

That said, this feedback does not detract from our overwhelmingly positive experience with The Shuttle Hospitality. Bob and Francis made us feel genuinely cared for, and their professionalism, warmth, flexibility, and attention to detail made a real difference to our trip.

We returned home with incredible memories, wonderful photos and videos, and a much deeper appreciation for Uganda’s wildlife, landscapes, and people. We are especially grateful to Bob for designing such a thoughtful itinerary and to Francis for being such a fantastic guide and companion throughout the journey.

We plan to go back soon to repeat the gorilla trekking and explore more of Uganda, such as Queen Elisabeth National Park, and we’ll definitely choose The Shuttle Hospitality again!

Thank you, Bob, Francis, and the entire team at The Shuttle Hospitality, for making our Uganda trip so special. We would absolutely recommend you to anyone planning a safari in Uganda, particularly travelers who appreciate personalized service, attention to detail, and experiences that go beyond the standard itinerary. You helped make this a truly unforgettable trip!
