Absolutely unforgettable experience
I have no words to describe how this team treated us - not like tourists, but rather family members ❤️ Communication since the beginig has been exceptional: they’ve replied at 11:30 pm on sunday evening, answered all my questions, welcomed us at the airport at 4am - everything was incredible! Irene took care of everything and during the safari the whole experience was once in a lifetime - we saw so many animals, landscapes and our driver Niko was probably the best among the rest! The team also arranged transportation from Atusha to Moshi and basically took care of all the worries that we might have, so we could enjoy the experience in the best way possible! Super grateful for all the work they do and the way they treated us 🙏

I booked a 5 day Safari of the Serengeti through Porcupine expeditions and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough!
Not only did they find a great safari that fitted my dates and budget perfectly they really look after you as if your family. Julean and Anna are so kind! Julean picked me up at the airport, showed me around Arusha, took me out to her family’s restaurant for dinner and provided me with a hotel to stay in before my safari at no extra cost. Julean kept in contact with me through the tour to ensure everything was going to plan. She also booked my bus from Arusha to Dar Es Salaam for after the tour which was very helpful!
The safari they booked for me was amazing! I saw 5/5 of the big five plus so much more. My guide was very experienced and knowledgeable. He made sure we had great views of all the animals and didn’t rush us. The car, camping equipment and food were all very high quality.
As a solo female traveller who was a bit nervous about coming to Tanzania alone I would highly recommend Porcupine expeditions!

A flawlessly organized safari experience with exceptional personal service from start to finish
My experience with Porcupine Expeditions was absolutely fantastic. From the very beginning, everything was organized perfectly and ran exactly on time. I truly felt like a VIP throughout the entire trip.
A special thank you to Anna and Julia, who were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They responded to all my queries quickly and with great precision, which made the planning process completely stress-free.
The 4-day safari was the highlight of the trip. We were lucky enough to see the Big 5 along with loads of other animals, which was simply amazing. The accommodation was excellent, and the food was delicious every day. I highly recommend Porcupine Expeditions to anyone looking for a seamless and memorable safari adventure.

2 day shared safari
Porcupine Expeditions organized a perfect and very smooth shared 2-day safari for us. Everything went according to the plan, timely and smoothly. They even helped beyond the safari with airport transfers, city tour etc. They are extremely attentive.

Outstanding team for a most memorable experience
I did a joint safari and there are some things that made porcupine outstanding against the other operators:
I was provided with some extra items such a binoculars (extremely valuable) and also, they checked in with me every second day if everything is well.
I felt extremely well taken care of during the entire experience: from the planning through the journey and also afterwards, the communication was quick, honest and they would rather suggest feasible options than promising anything and say later, that things might not be possible. (Which happened to other people in the group.)
What you have to know about joint safaris: you join with clients from other tour operators, so they might adapt the itenary slightly. I had the luck to not only have an amazing group, but have one of the most experienced guides and a very ambitious chef.
The guide Ismail Chalamila knows many Lions in Serengeti by their marks, knows the family relations and most important: where to find them. We saw about 6 times lions catching food and plenty of more with their cups. Ismail is not average but is extremely knowledgeable about all the species living in the northern circuit and he just loves nature and their creatures.
The Chef Eric provided us with breakfast and two warm meals per day and produced a perfect mix of local, traditional and fusion kitchen.
So all together this was a most memorable and outstanding experience, thanks to porcupine and the experienced team in the field. They even prepared a birthday surprise for me :)
Some tips: if you book camping, make sure to bring a torch or headlight and maybe a cotton sleeping back as you will be provided with sleeping backs and mattresses on the camp site.
Bring a jumper or so, as nights may be cold. Refrain from blue and black color clothes as the tsetse fly is attracted to that.

Great experience
Because of low season I got arranged to a safari co-organized with Travel Africa but both operators worked well. The Porcupine family took good care of me as a young solo traveller and everything went smoothly. The safari experience was amazing and I would recommend doing it during low season.

I started my tour the day it became dangerous to step out on the streets with all the protests about the presidential election ; I felt safe throughout the 10 days I spent with this tour operator. I felt welcomed and protected like a new family I was joining at the hotel I stayed. I enjoyed all the activities included in this tour.
