Experience of a lifetime!
5/5

My husband and I had the most amazing first ever safari experience with Beyond The Plains! Booking was easy, professional, and tailored to what we wanted. They were responsive and kind with all the questions we had leading up to the trip. Pick up and transport were smooth and exactly as planned even though we requested a pickup from Kisumu which was out of the norm. Our guide, Duncan, was fantastic. Super relaxed, happy to chat and answer questions but also happy to just let us do our thing during the long drives. During the safari he was very knowledgable about the animals and environment and taught us so much along the way. It was truly the experience of a lifetime. We visited Lake Nakuru and stayed at Ziwa Bush Lodge which was such a gorgeous paradise with amazing food. Then to Masai Mara staying at Jambo Safari Lodge. This one definitely felt a little more touristy and the accommodations weren’t quite as high quality or authentic as Ziwa, but it was perfectly suitable for what we needed. The staff there were all very kind and welcoming.

Things I think would have been helpful to know beforehand would be:
1) visit to Masai Village- it would have been good to have a little more info on what to expect here. For example, just before arriving our driver let us know people often bring donations in the form of cash, books, supplies, etc. but we hadn’t known that and so didn’t have much cash on us and definitely didn’t bring any supplies/books.
2) more info on if/when bathroom breaks/stops would be possible during Safari and the drives. It worked out fine but would have been good to know in advance just for peace of mind.
3) I wish we had known to bring more cash, specifically small bills of Kenya shillings for tipping the hotel staff/wait staff.

Again, truly the experience of a lifetime and would absolutely recommend booking with them! We hope to come back to Kenya and plan a trip to Amboseli, Samburi, and Mombasa and will be happy to work with Beyond the Plains again. :)

Very trustworthy and the best in the country
5/5

We had the most incredible experience with Beyond the Plains Safari. From start to finish, our trip was truly unforgettable — everything was well organized, comfortable, and filled with amazing moments that we will cherish forever.

A huge thank you to Alex and the entire team for making our safari so special. Your kindness, professionalism, and attention to every little detail made the journey smooth and enjoyable.

A very special thanks to our guide Ben ; he was absolutely amazing! His knowledge, patience, humility, and warm personality made us feel so comfortable, almost like we were with family. He made every moment fun, he’s funny, made so many jokes and cracked us up and made every single day exciting, and memorable. Thank you Ben from the bottom of our hearts. I would highly recommend whoever is planning a trip to Masai Mara to ask for Ben as your guide.

We saw incredible wildlife, experienced the beauty of Africa, and created memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to share this adventure with.

Thank you, Beyond the Plains Safari, Alex, Ben, and the whole team, you made our dream safari come true. Highly recommended! 🦁🌿

Incredible
5/5

Peter was our driver and guide from Nairobi to the Isebania border. For three days and for three nights he made us feel extra special, always finding the animals, explaining different landmarks, the names of different trees and birds. Our time with Peter will never be forgotten, it was a “pinch” me moment the whole time we were with him. His vehicle was always clean tidy and comfortable. We would highly recommend the Safari company “beyond the plains” and should we be ever so fortunate to come again wouldn’t hesitate to use them and request Peter again.

1 week is not enough for such an amazing experience. Our guide / driver Mr. Ken is the cool person making this experience more delightfull. All booked Hotels i.e Zebra Plains , Nakuru Sopa and Praro Ambosili were quite nice for the stay , food was great and the staff was truly helpfull and friendly. Few thing they did for me with true kindness and not just because it's their job. Really loved it.

Excellent Safari Experience with Beyond The Plains
5/5

We had a wonderful safari experience with Beyond The Plains Kenya Safaris. From the first day until our final airport drop-off, their service and customer care were excellent.
Our driver/guide Jimmy was outstanding. He was professional, knowledgeable, and very patient throughout the trip. He stopped at every animal sighting and never moved until we were fully satisfied and had taken our photos. He made the whole safari experience very comfortable and enjoyable for us.
The lodges arranged for us were also very good, clean, comfortable, and well selected. Everything was well organized from start to finish, and the team was always helpful and responsive.
Overall, it was a memorable and smooth safari experience. Highly recommended for anyone planning a Kenya safari

Beyond all Expectations, Perfect!
5/5

We had two competing interests with this vacation: relaxation and adventure. We were also pressed for time (all we had was 6 days). Beyond The Plains managed to surpass every expectation we had.

We landed in Nairobi and drove to Masai Mara on our first day. Instead of heading straight to the camp, we stopped at Masai village. We participated in a dance performance and experienced Masai culture. Our host, Josh, was very helpful and answered all questions we had with patience and hospitality. It felt real, authentic and wholesome. From there, we headed to our Camp which was substantially more comfortable than we had imagined.

On the next day, we left early for our game drive. During our time in the Park, we were able to catch all the animals on our bucket list (lion, hippo, buffalo, giraffes, elephants, ostrich to name a few). We also managed to catch a Cheetah devouring an impala just after it had completed a kill. This was an exhilarating experience. Duncan, our guide, had over 25 years of experience. He knew the park like the back of his hand and was always happy to answer our questions (even the silly ones). The game drive was one of the most fulfilling experiences I have had while traveling and will recommend this to anyone, even those not interested in nature or animals. We ended the game drive with a sun downer which was calming and gave us the opportunity to reflect on all we had seen.

The next day, we drove to Nairobi from where we took our flight to Diani beach. Upon reaching, we enjoyed a delicious late lunch at the Salty Squid before reaching Diani Sea Lodge where were to stay. While our initial introduction to our accommodation was a bit disappointing (a couple of mini-issues with the room we were allotted), we reached out to Andrew at Beyond The Safari and he got us changed to a much better room. From this point on, everything was perfect. It was so good that we actually extended our stay by a day. Andrew was very helpful to manage our last minute extension. We spent our days chilling at the beach, occasionally entering the water and enjoying the all-inclusive buffet, snacks and drinks. On our last day, we even went snorkeling to catch some marine life.

The whole experience was as smooth and seamless as could have been.

On our last day, we took our flight to Nairobi, where Michael picked us up from the air port and took us to the Nairobi national park. Here we got to visit the elephant orphanage - a thoroughly wholesome experience. We also got to explore the park and see some wildlife there. We told Michael that we had seen everything at Masai Mara, except a rhino. Michale tried very hard to show us a rhino and just when we had given up hope, we got to see two white rhinos - a mother and a calf! This completed our bucket list for the wildlife. The rhinos stayed close to our car with the calf playing around for a good few minutes before walking away.

Lastly, we went to the giraffe center in Nairobi to feed the giraffes. This was also very fun and a great way to close our trip. Michael dropped us at the air port.

What stood out throughout the trip was Beyond the Safari's responsiveness. It felt like they were more interested in making this vacation a success than we were, which was great!

We managed to have a vacation full of adventure, as well as relaxation. There's nothing more we could have wanted from this vacation.

Perfectly planned Safari and Beach Vacation
5/5

I went through discussions with several Safari agencies before eventually deciding to go with ‘Beyond the Plains’, primarily because of their immediate responsiveness and really curating the trip to fit our needs and requirements.
The trip was perfectly planned and Andrew was available at all times to answer any concerns or questions, even during the trip itself allowing us to pivot, change itinerary details and extend our stay.
From the accommodations to the dietary requirements, everything was booked as per our expectations and on raising a concern about a mild frustration with a room, it was immediately taken care of.
Beyond the Plains has restored my faith in depending on a travel agency to plan a vacation.

The safari itself was immaculately arranged and in a single all day safari, our guide Duncan helped us view all the animals giving detailed explanations and characteristics of each such that it wasn’t touch and go but quite informative as well.
The Diani beach was the perfect second half and by virtue of getting a few hours of layover at NBO, Andrew helped arrange visits to Nairobi National Park where we got to see the white rhinos, the elephant orphanage and the Giraffe Center making it the perfect end.

10/10 would recommend. Also for future travellers you can communicate your exact needs so that it is a personalised experience like ours was.

Fantastic
5/5

From start to finish this has been a truly fantastic experience. Recommended by a friend and so glad we used these guys. From 1st email to drop off back in Nairobi this was a stress free experince. Dan was the best driver/ guide and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. He put up with my false animal sighting and being told to acha alot. (Stop). Accommodation and food has been brilliant. Fav has been serena sweetwater and Zebra Royal. . Serena was fav overall due to seeing Rhino, zebra , giraffe and buffalo all within 5mins of being there and i loved sleeping in the tent. ( they put hotwater bottles in the bed at night). Dan found us lion cubs, cheetah, lepard and all the others in btween. This has been the most magestical ( kiwi word lol) holiday ive ever done. Cant wait to come back. Ol pajeta and Masi Mara are the best reserves in my opinion. Xo
