If you’re looking for a reliable, affordable, safe, communicative, and trustworthy safari operator, we highly recommend Beyond the Plains Kenya Safaris. We spent around 3 months researching different companies and reading reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, and SafariBookings before deciding to book with them and we’re so glad we did!
A few things really stood out to us:
1. Great communication: Fridah was incredibly polite, responsive, and always replied within 24 hours. She was also very transparent about what was included in the price.
2. Honest pricing: We compared several offers and really appreciated the clear breakdown of the services, lodges, hotels, and tents. Fridah contacted all the accommodations in advance and made sure we actually stayed at the places that were quoted.
3. Amazing guide: We spent 9 days with Aaron, who drove and guided us through several parks in Kenya. He was extremely knowledgeable about the animals and parks, and no question was ever too much. You can genuinely tell that he loves his job and wants you to have the best possible experience. He also drove very safely and always made sure we felt comfortable and looked after.
And, of course, “Hakuna Matata” is his favourite sentence! Whether you want to start your safari early or take a more relaxed morning, Aaron is always happy to accommodate.
Overall, we had an amazing experience and would happily recommend Beyond the Plains Kenya Safaris to anyone planning a safari in Kenya!

Amazing and safe safari
Amazing experience. The tour company was very responsive. Our guide/driver (Dan) was excellent: safety-conscious, knowledgeable, reliable, and friendly. Keep in mind that this isn’t budget travel (moderately expensive), but I was traveling with family, and so safety and reasonable comfort were my priorities. I’d absolutely recommend this outfit to others.

Unforgettable Safari Experience with Exceptional Service!
We recently returned from an incredible trip, and I cannot say enough good things about the team. From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well-organized.
A special mention must go to our guide, John. His companionship, deep knowledge, and keen eye made our safari truly unforgettable. He always had our best interests in mind and paid attention to the smallest details. In one memorable instance, when we spotted a herd of elephants, John predicted their exact path—allowing us to be the first vehicle in position to watch them move through. He was always punctual, kept everything running smoothly (including early-morning activities like our hot air balloon ride), and seamlessly coordinated with local guides. Our trip was genuinely so much better because of him!
The team also went above and beyond by helping us coordinate local equipment rentals in Nairobi, which saved us the hassle of hauling camera gear all the way from Canada.

Perfect photo safari and flawless service. An unforgettable experience!
We have just finished an amazing 11-day safari through Kenya's main parks with Beyond the Plains Safaris. Having a private jeep just for our family made a huge difference. As a photographer, it gave me the flexibility to take incredible, breathtaking photos at my own pace. The hotels chosen for us were superb—each one more beautiful than the last and of the highest standard.The highlight of our trip was definitely our guide, John . He is an incredible professional who knows every inch of thousands of kilometers of parks. Thanks to his expertise, we saw every single kind of animal, including rare moments like active hunting and mating dances. Beyond his technical skills, he took care of me and especially my 12 and 15-year-old children like a dear friend.The agency's customer service is top-notch. We had a minor issue at Lake Naivasha (a stop I personally wouldn't recommend), but the way the company handled it was outstanding. Today, on our last day, the owner himself surprised us with a wonderful gift to make up for it.I absolutely recommend Beyond the Plains Safaris to anyone looking for a high-end, smooth, and unforgettable trip. An All Around Wonderful Experience
We just returned from a marvelous trip to Kenya, hosted by Beyond the Plains Safaris. We had originally (6 months before the scheduled departure) booked a tour with another safari operator. However, once they had our substantial deposit, we received no responses to our emails (they bounced back) or phone calls (disconnected). Now, with non-refundable plane tickets and only 6 weeks before our travel date during the high tourist season, I was in a panic that my bucket list trip was not going to happen.
At that point, I asked ChatGPT what to do. Voila, Beyond the Plains Safaris to the rescue! Very quickly, Maurine was in touch with me, asked what we wanted our trip to include, and custom-tailored a private safari to match our dates and desired itinerary. Once booked, Maurine continued to stay in touch, rapidly responding to any questions and sharing trip details. We felt like we were finally in good hands.
As for our 13-day safari, it was perfect! The parks selected and the accommodations were all what we had hoped for. In particular, Peter, our driver/guide, was outstanding. His ability to spot animals was phenomenal. Moreover, once spotted, Peter did a heroic job of getting us in the best position to view the animals. He also had a good relationship with the other driver/guides, sharing sighting information with them, which greatly increased our viewing opportunities. The close-up animal encounters we had (and so many of them!) were beyond our expectations, and this was not our first safari.

Exceptional service, unforgettable experiences, and a team that truly cares.
What an incredible tour from beginning to end! Everything was so well organized and thoughtfully planned. The team was extremely accommodating throughout our stay, especially since we brought some of our own food to cook. They were so understanding and made everything easy for us.
The staff were absolutely lovely—everyone was warm, friendly, and always happy to help.
A special thank you to our amazing tour guide, Aaron. You were fantastic! Your knowledge of the Masai Mara was exceptional, and you went above and beyond to help us spot the Big Five. We also had the opportunity to go on a night game drive, which was an unforgettable experience. Aaron, your friendliness, enthusiasm, and expertise truly made our trip so special.
The tents were clean, comfortable, and had beautiful views, making our stay even more enjoyable.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone planning a trip to the Masai Mara, and I definitely recommend staying at Masa Elite. Thank you all for such an unforgettable experience—we loved every minute of it!

Most incredible trip
From beginning to end, this tour was well organised making sure to think about everything. Communication was conveniently through WhatsApp, with rapid responses to messages. Fantastic Safari!
My husband and I went on a safari to Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara for our honeymoon and we had a wonderful time with our guide Aaron! From the beginning of booking, through the entire experience, Beyond the Plains was fantastic to work with. Aaron was super informative about the animals and ecosystems, and even tailored our safari to our interests in birds and other animals. We really enjoyed our experience and we highly recommend both Aaron as a guide and Beyond the Plains as a safari operator!
