We searched Safari Bookings for a longer tour featuring the highlights of the migration, tree-climbing lions, and horseback riding, and found Destiny Explorers to offer the best value for the money. We were able to easily extend the tour package to 12 days. We were also able to adjust the accommodations without any issues. The tour itself went 100 percent smoothly. There were a few minor issues with the vehicles. The first one broke down after just one day, and the second one wasn’t up to the task. But that didn’t detract from the trip. We’ve traveled through southern Africa several times before and wanted to escape the mass tourism that is, unfortunately, very prevalent in Tanzania. Our driver, Nico, understood this after just a short time. Even though we didn’t always follow all the other vehicles, we saw everything we wanted to see. The selected lodges were all great. We highly recommend the Tarangire Simba Lodge. Here, we suggest taking a day to relax—not going on a safari, but simply enjoying the lodge and the animals. We also recommend a walking safari in Tarangire. All in all, a fantastic experience. The only downsides were the mass tourism (of which we were, unfortunately, also a part) and the often reckless driving of other tour operators, such as Tanzania Specialist. We can wholeheartedly recommend Destiny Explorers.

Experience to Remember
We booked our safari which include various locations in Tanzania for game drives, and concluded in Zanzibar with a "blue safari" Prior to our arrival I was able to easily communicate with Destiny Explorers. They answered any questions we had. I did ask a question in regards to local currency (Tanzanian Shillings) if we would need to have some and I was told yes. So we did currency exchange upon arrival at the airport as it was not available in USA. Our guide, Nicholaus, or as he had us to call him "Nico" was AMAZING. He was with us the whole time of our game drives. He was very knowledgeable about the animals and the tribes. We learned so many things about the animals and the cultures of the different areas we were in. Our guide only took us to local shops for souvenirs so the money stayed in the tribes, which we preferred. All of the accommodations through out our journey were great. All the staff at the various locations were very friend and helpful. We always felt safe. Throughout our trip it was easy to contact Destiny Explorers. They always responded quickly with any questions or concerns we had. The only negative things I have to say is we could have done without getting the shillings. It seemed like the preferred currency was USD that may be a result of the choices of our guide, I do not know, with that being said we would not have wasted the time and resources on shillings had we known this. We had such high expectations after spending so much time with Nico, we were quite disappointed the first day in Zanzibar when we were handed off to multiple people for roughly a 2 hour activity which did not go as described in our itinerary. I contacted Destiny Explorers and the next day we had the same guide throughout our 8 hour excursion that day. Overall we were very satisfied with Destiny Explorers.

Great 6 d safari with an expert guide, amazing wildlife sightings and wonderful lodge accommodations
We have spent 6 days together with our tour guide David from Destiny Explorers.
First the jeep, since we spent most of our waking hours in it. The car was old but seemed to be just like all the other vehicles we saw in the parks. The ride can get a bit rough, but our guide seemed to handle the car well, and his knowledge of the vast area was impressive.
David answered all our questions about the flora and fauna and adjusted the tour according to our wishes and needs.
We had some doubts about the broken radio in the car. Other tourists mentioned the guides being in contact with each other to hear about animal sightings in the vicinity. We were told that this happens via smartphone as well. To what extent that was the case, we can’t tell. We did have good sightings, but we wonder if more communication could have improved it further. In the end, it is a game of luck and chance.
The hotels that Destiny Explorers chose for us were amazing. This is especially true for the lodges in the national parks themselves. We didn’t want to overspend, but the level of comfort, space, and style of our accommodations were a pleasant surprise. The food was always tasty and plentiful, sometimes extraordinary. A few breakfast items tend to be a bit repetitive after a couple of days, but the choice was there, and we felt well taken care of, Issa also made sure we got a nice birthday cake baked by one of the lodges.
The only thing we didn’t like was some miscommunication, which led us to book a slightly cheaper package that included less accommodation and transport than we had expected. As a result, we ended up arranging our own accommodation and taxis, which ended up costing more than the original quoted amount for those days. It was also difficult to be flexible on the go with our itinerary, we would have liked to spend more time in the Serengeti, but the price quoted for changing one day was extremely high. I would highly recommend having a phone call beforehand to clearly go over all the details before booking.
Other than these hiccups, we had a very good time overall.

Beautiful 10-days safari But special attention to the car is definitely necessary
Beautiful 10-day safari with Destiny Explorers
We arrived in Arusha 2 days before the elections and wanted to leave as soon as possible due to the expected unrest. Destiny Explorers and Issa Hamisi were very helpful and put together a safari trip within half a day that exactly met our wishes.
We opted for a 10-day private tour with 9 nights.
It was absolutely a great trip and everything was very well arranged. Compliments for this all the more because everything was so short in advance and there were major internet problems nationwide.
Our guide and driver, David, was very friendly and knowledgeable.
He had the car completely under control, even though it was very old and worn out.
The 4-wheel drive no longer seems suitable for this kind of safari. It has a worn-out interior; the cooling and brake systems (leaks) were faulty, which made us finally feel unsafe despite our excellent driver.
The lodges where we stayed were of good quality and the food was fine.
The payment of our trip was quite difficult.
We booked on the spot, this also had to be paid on the spot. Online with credit card or directly via our bank was not possible due to missing IBAN number of the Tanzanian bank. Finally paid via Revolut which we have been working on for about three days because these kinds of amounts are extreme checks. Received scam warnings which caused a lot of unnecessary stress.
So a number of points of attention for this fairly young organization.

6 day safari with Destiny Explorers
Amazing 6-Day Safari with Destiny Explorers
Destiny Explorers and Issa Hamisi were very cooperative and put together a safari trip exactly according to our wishes.
We chose a 6-day tour with 5 overnight stays.
We had already spent four days in Stone Town, Zanzibar, and flew from there to Arusha.
Destiny arranged a nice hotel for us in Arusha, where we met a representative from Destiny Explorers to settle the payment details.
We stayed overnight, and the next morning we were picked up after breakfast — our adventure had begun!
First of all, we have to say this was an absolutely fantastic trip.
What incredible wildlife Tanzania’s national parks have to offer!
Serengeti and Ngorongoro gave us memories for a lifetime.
Our guide and driver, David, was very pleasant and knowledgeable.
What he didn’t know about nature and wildlife wasn’t worth knowing.
He also had full control of the vehicle, even though it was a bit old and worn.
Our Land Cruiser could definitely have been better maintained — the wipers, starter motor, and brakes were not in perfect condition, and the rear seat belts were missing.
Still, the car did its job well, and David handled it perfectly.
We truly think the trip was amazing, and we highly recommend that anyone planning a safari includes Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
The lodges we stayed at were of good standard, and the food was excellent.
We chose a private tour, meaning we had the car and guide entirely to ourselves.
When it comes to payment, there’s one thing worth mentioning:
One-third of the total cost was paid electronically as a deposit when we booked the trip.
However, what we found quite challenging was that the remaining balance had to be paid in cash, in USD or EUR.
For us Europeans, this is unusual — and getting hold of that much foreign currency can be difficult.
In Norway, where we come from, it’s no longer possible to withdraw foreign currency directly from a bank.
You have to use ATMs with poor exchange rates or expensive services like Loomis, and there are also strict withdrawal limits due to anti–money laundering rules.
Had we known how difficult this would be, we would probably have chosen a company that allowed full electronic payment.
That being said, we absolutely loved this tour, and we’re sure Destiny Explorers will sort out the payment matter.

Divers safari itenery, fund and knowledgable guide and fantastic loges!
Itenery of the Safari was great, very diverse. Our driver was Hussein, who was very flexible, nice and also knowledgeable about the wildlife - it was fun and educational, and he did his very best to spot animals for us, constantly consulted his colleagues on the road to ask who saw what where to take us to the greatest spots. The lodges used by Destiny Explorers were all fabolous! On the flip side, what was not so great was the car - it was very old and clearly struggled to go uphill and was very slow; and the food was very basic - we would have preferred a more fancy picnic option and a thermos of COFFEE in the car.
Overall I would recommend the operator, the itenery and also Hussein as a driver - we enjoyed and are one experience richer!

Good overall experience
Me and my wife have been travelling with Destiny explorers on a 5D/4N safari at the end of september across 4 national parks in Tanzania (Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara): I won't mention here how fantastic and adventurous the whole trip was...!
We booked plenty in advance (in January '23) but due to the company being quite small and the low season we would have probably found a seat also a few weeks before (but maybe not flights and accomodations).
We choose it because it was one of the cheapest company providing the tour we wanted and the accomodation (mid range) and the tour proposed were perfectly fitting our needs: to be honest we were a bit apprehensive about the reliability of the company and the personnel until we got to Tanzania and met the staff; being such a small, possibly unknown company and having paid such a lot of money in advance from the other side of the world made us feel a little worried until the last moment: the same feeling would have applied for any other safari company probably.
In one word we have no regrets in our choice!
PROS:
- being a small company we managed to keep the whole cost within our budget compared to the thousands of companies on this site
- the accomodations were absolutely gorgeous (2N in "Ngorongoro Forest tented Lodge" + 2N in " Serengeti baobab camp") and we couldn't ask for more despite them being cathegorized as "middle range". The food was also perfect, both for the buffet/restaurant dinners and for the packet lunches.
- this was a private safari, only the two of us on the jeep, deciding times and movements according to the guide: this was a huge pro compared to other companies providing group safari (we've seen even 8 people on a single car) at an higher cost.
- despite the low price we did absolutely everything else that all the company did; we went in any place and saw everything was possible to see and more; infact we kept meeting the same cars from all the different companies in every stops we made.
- Peter, our driver and guide was exactly the person we were aiming to have with us in the tour: he was extremly serious and professional, few words but the right ones at the right moment! His english was very good, he was listening to the radio to bring us to see the rarest animals when spotted.
- the car had 2 UK sockets with a 220 inverter to charge your phone or camera, an old fridge to keep your water cold (free bottles of water were provided), pop up roof, no AC, manual windows, lots of space.
CONS:
- main negative (or less positive) point would be attributed to the car and overall safety: on our last day in Serengeti we stopped at a gas station to get one tire fixed and one, that was completely worned out, replaced and we found out both spare tires on the back of the car were punctured and would have not be possible to use them in case of a flat tire during the trip until that moment; on our last day the morning pick up was delayed becase the car wasn't starting at all: our guide went above and beyond his duty to get it fixed fast. Car stopped suddenly due to an harsh brake and we had to be pushed by another car to start it. Seat belt wasn't properly latching. Fridge was old and little dirty inside. To summarize: a very very old car that definitively requires big maintenance that should be done BEFORE starting the tour and not left to the driver to fix it as an emergency. We were lucky that nothing major happened (we have seen other companies with very big issues on their cars that fully compromised the whole safari), but this shouldn't be left to luck: a break down in the middle of Serengeti would have cost us a couple of days to get a new car delivered.
- the food the accomodations provided for our packed lunches were good and appetizing yet little basic for somebodies needs: we were absolutely happy with our choices and to spend less than an hour for the pick nick (we were there to see animals, not to waste time in lunch and getting drunk!), but this might be a little disappointing for somebody: we've seen tables prepared with proper hot food (rice, chicken, soups etc) and even with beers and wines served in glass chalices... not what we were looking for, but just an heads up if you fancy that kind of "high standard" comfort.
- last but not least was a little/big misunderstanding at the very end of the journey that left us with a bitter feeling: I calculated and prepared a very decent tip for the driver based on what I read online being a fair amount and on our experience with the car damages and overall comfort. There was a moment of embarassment with the driver as I handed the money to him and he counted... he asked for more in a very polite way, 20 USD per person per day, total 200 USD! We got to find out we were actually paying his own salary as he was not receiving any money from the company. This was very disappointing from many point of views: we were not aware of this fixed price we had to pay, it could have been communicated from the very beginning (I just had enough cash to cover this but I was left without a dollar for the rest of my trip). Why was not this a fixed price per car but it was per person if this was the driver's salary? Tip should be a free choice in quality and quantity and not a fixed imposed price... we would have been happy to know and pay this from the beginning as part of the safari cost.
OVERALL CONSIDERATIONS:
All went fine and we had an awesome experience.
Destiny exporers was exactly what we were expecting in terms of costs, quality, services so for us it was a 9/10 choice, but it could not be for everybody if you wish to pay slightly more and have a better comfort and safety.

Although break down is quite normal in the parks due to the rough roads as you witnessed major issues in other companies' vehicles. Luckily for us, we were able to fix all the minor issues in our car on time and make you proceed with you trip until the last day. To be honest is an appreciation to the service provided and not compulsory to be given to the service provider based on what has bee recommended by the company. I think it suppose to be the exact or more than what has been recommended by the company only if the clients are happy with the service provided and met their expectations. And with no doubt this was in details in the itinerary. Bad luck this scenario happened between you and our safari guide/driver. We apologies for all that happened and make you feel embarrassed or humiliated in any way or another.

The safari and the operator were very good
The safari was very good. During the planning, Issa responded promptly, making the entire process smooth, and even throughout the trip, communication with him was easy whenever needed.
David was our guide on the safari, and he drove us safely the entire time, always offering assistance when required. He paid close attention to our preferences, allowing us to spend extra time observing the animals we enjoyed most and moving on quickly from others. And we were able to see/find the Big Five.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, with a minor issue at the end due to a lack of clarity in the quote and the last dinner being missed.
