Great tour of Amboselli
My mum and I visited Kenya from Australia and did a 3 day / 2 night safari to Amboselli with Bed of Roses. We really couldn’t fault anything about the tour. We were met at the airport by Mercy and we stayed at OlTukai lodge which was amazing. Our driver Daniel was very good and knowledgeable and did his best for us to see all the animals in the park. Despite the time of year not being the best for Amboselli we still saw lot of animals including elephants, zebras, giraffes, flamingos, hippos and a lion. We were lucky on our last day too that we saw the mountain in great visibility. We went with the 4x4 Safari jeep with open roof and I highly recommend this over the minibuses if your budget allows (although the minibuses we saw also had the open roof so you wont miss out on views, just it was a little bit wet and muddy so the 4x4 was reassuring we wouldn't get stuck).
We realised we were the first customers for this company and this was a little nerve-wracking for us as we wanted to ensure the company was legitimate. Dickson was very responsive and sent us the accommodation confirmation (which we needed anyway for the entry visa) and reassured us we were booked in for the tour. He also advised us they are registered with the TRA, and I independently checked this.
We felt very well looked after, safe and I would recommend this company.

James, our tour operator, was very accommodating to all our requests and responsive to our inquires.
This 4- day luxury safari was beyond anything we would have expected. The camp was beautiful, clean, and great service. The game drives were perfectly timed and comfortable. Our host was great. We got to see everything and shared lots of good memories.

Very helpful and responsive in the booking process.
Africa Bed of Roses were very easy to deal with. They responded quickly to queries by email and we were happy that they were providing what we wanted, including adding some extras in. They met us at the airport and the guide was a good driver. Accommodation was excellent. The advertised safari lodge was not available but the substitute was lovely and I would willingly return to it. The guide was obviously very familiar with the area of the Masai Mara that we visited and he was able to find lots of wonderful wildlife to observe.
Our only concern was about the actual vehicle that we travelled in. It needed jump-starting a few times and then broke down so we had to be transferred to another vehicle to complete our journey. The guide had to facilitate this himself as there was no obvious back-up . We have fed back to Africa Bed of Roses that we feel the vehicle is in need of a major service.
This incident would not stop me using them again.

Cancelled trip and no refund
I booked a trip but was concelled just two days before the trip. I payed all the money, but they gave the reason that they were in finance trouble, can not refund me yet. They are not trustable.

Unnotified Hotel Downgrades, Unpaid Refund ($505 USD), and False KATO Claims

Do NOT book with Africa Bed of Roses Safaris or its managing director, James. While our dedicated driver-guide Milton was wonderful and professional, we feel the owner deceived us intentionally, with unnotified hotel downgrades, kept the price differences, and has repeatedly defaulted on refunding us $505 USD.
Unnotified Hotel Downgrades & Unrefunded Price Gaps ($505 USD)
We paid in full for a 10-day private safari for two ($7,740 USD total). Without any prior notice, James downgraded our contracted accommodations:
Lake Naivasha: We contracted Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort, but at check-in were dropped off at Crescent Camp without any prior explanation (price difference: $215 USD).
Amboseli: Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge was secretly downgraded to AA Lodge Amboseli for 2 nights (price difference: $290 USD).
James admitted in writing via WhatsApp that he owed us a $505 USD refund. However, despite promising multiple payment dates (Sep 28, Oct 2, Oct 9), he repeatedly delayed with excuses and has not paid back a single cent.
KATO Membership Claims
The company’s official website prominently displays the “KATO Bonded” logo. However, we could not find Africa Bed of Roses Safaris in the official registry of KATO (Kenya Association of Tour Operators).
3. Rebranded Operator with Past License Revocation
James previously operated Twinkle Star Tours and Safaris Limited, which had its license revoked by Kenyan authorities around September 2025 following numerous complaints of unpaid client refunds and financial defaults under identical patterns. Africa Bed of Roses Safaris is merely a newly rebranded operation established in 2026.
Conclusion:
Always verify an operator’s standing directly on the official KATO database, and stay away from any business run by James. Our praise goes solely to our driver-guide Milton, but booking with this management carries severe financial risks.

My friend and I have not yet received a refund.
James, the general manager of the travel agency, acknowledged that he would refund us the price difference ($505) resulting from the downgrade in our hotel accommodation. Despite his repeated promises regarding a payment date, he has continually delayed the process; a month has now passed, and we still have not received the refund. I feel that his word cannot be trusted, and I am deeply disappointed.
