Local experience with Borbo family
5/5

I recently had a really nice experience visiting Arusha with the Borbo family. Everything was well organized, and I’m grateful I got to experience the city and village like a local.

The 4-day safari through Serengeti, Tarangire, and Ngorongoro was a definite highlight—amazing wildlife, stunning landscapes, and a knowledgeable guide.

What stood out most was the family atmosphere. The Borbo family made me feel welcome: I joined them for cooking, visited the Arusha market and city center, and toured an organic coffee farm. Each activity was interesting and not overly touristic.

As a solo traveler, I appreciated the balance of adventure, culture, and comfort. I’d happily recommend the Borbo family especially to small groups or couples visiting Arusha and looking for a local, family experience. Thanks Rebecca and Emmanuel!

We found a home away from home
5/5

During our cycling trip through Africa, we reached out to Rebecca and Emmanuel for a safari.

Our five-day safari in Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater exceeded all our expectations. We encountered all of the Big Five while learning about their habitats and the balance between wildlife and people. We especially appreciated the guide’s respectful approach when interacting with the animals.

Although not originally part of our plans, we also completed a six-day expedition on Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route. It was physically demanding, but the sunrise over the crater and glacier made it all worthwhile.

When arriving in Arusha, we certainly did not expect to find a home away from home. At Emmanuel and Rebecca’s, their hospitality - and that of their three children - made us feel like family. We enjoyed activities such as hiking near Mount Meru, cooking dinner together, playing with the children in the garden, visiting the Arusha market, and even stopping by a local hairdresser.

Thank you for organizing our safari and Kilimanjaro hike, and most of all, for welcoming us so warmly. We arrived in Arusha as tourists but left as family. We hope to see you again, perhaps in your village near Lake Babati.

Asante sana!
Elias and Sofia

"I recently went on a safari with Barbo Safaris, owned by Rebecca and Emmanuel, and it was an incredible experience! Emmanuel and Rebecca were so welcoming, treating me with such kindness and even inviting me to stay at their home for a few nights. Their family is truly lovely, and the whole safari was fantastic. Our safari driver took us on amazing routes where we saw so many animals, including the Big Five! The food was delicious, and the places we visited were stunning. I highly recommend Barbo Safaris for anyone looking for a memorable and beautiful experiences

People and Safari for the memories
5/5

Such. A. Trip!

How to start...? The kindness and humbleness welcome of Emanuel, Rebeca and their kids is just other league.
From help us with the transport since days before our arrival to dance party in their living room, passing by cards games all together, showing us the local Arusha market for the dinner in family-style, or watch the football derbi in a local bar with a beer... We have it all!
This is how to make people feel home when you far away.

And that was just the beginning. Our safari simply exceed all the expectations. True we were very open to everything, but we felt so lucky and grateful of people and nature everyday. Animals, plants ecosystems, weather and adventures of all type in our 5 days safari trip.

Highlights of course thanks to our guide and chef of the trip. This is what I call dedication for a job.
Omar always a nice word to make us understand better the wild Tanzanie and its fauna and curiosities.
Or the way that Bigi cook a variety of dishes in abundance and that yummy... Bravo!

You all have a big heart and we will remember you forever.

From the bottom of our heart. Thanks, family

Best safari experience ever!
5/5

Hard to describe the incredible time we had there. We started by being welcomed at Emanuel & Rebecca’s, who instantly made us feel like at home and shared their beautiful culture. Then we went on a 5-days safari and we didn’t have to worry about a thing, which made the whole experience unforgettable. Our guides were so knowledgeable, patient, big hearted people. I will never forget this first safari experience in Tanzania and will recommend it to anyone coming to Arusha. Thank you again rafiki & big hugs familia!

safari with family spirit
5/5

We have just returned from a 10 day tour in Tanzania organized by Borbo Safaris and we couldn't be happier. Safari through Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Arusha National Park, a marvel. And then the opportunity to live with Emanuel and his family, which from now on is also ours. Very good price.

Unique safari experience
5/5

We booked a 6-day camping safari with Emanuel.
Everything was perfectly organised, from the pick-up at the airport, the stay at Emanuel and Rebeca's home before and after the safari and, above all, the safari itself. Our guide Emanuel told us a lot about the country, its people and animals and always knew where the animals were. Thanks also to Dulla our cook for the good food.

Borbo Safari treated us like a family and we are so glad, that we enjoyed so much time with them.
5/5

Hello there,

When I show the pictures of my trip at home, most people ask me how we managed to get so close to nature and culture. The answer is actually Borbo Safari. We would never have gotten such an insight into life in Tanzania if Emanuel and Rebecca hadn't taken us in and shown us around.
We would never have had such a great safari if they hadn't organized everything for us.

I would like to briefly expand on these two points.
We traveled through Tanzania as a couple and it is always difficult to have a truly local experience. That's why these two were so lucky. It was no problem at all to visit the family with them, to learn how to cook, which plants grow where and how people live here. We were able to make music and dance with them and really live. Perhaps the best thing about it is that we are still in contact and it feels like family.

The safari was also amazing. We were able to see elephants so close that we could almost touch them. We saw lions sitting in front of us and looking us in the eye. The list of animals is long: hippos, giraffes, monkeys, hyenas, zebras, antelopes, wildebeests, flamingos, ostriches, wild boars, buffalos and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. The nature in the two nature reserves was breathtaking. There is really nothing that we missed.

A huge THANK YOU for everything. With you, the trip was more like coming home and we will never forget you and that.
