Full Service at a Reasonable Price
We just returned from a 6 night / 7 day private safari with Blue Lilac Tours, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish.
Everything ran incredibly smoothly. From the very first email, Edna was responsive, professional, and so easy to work with. She answered all of our questions promptly and thoughtfully, and she helped us craft an itinerary that fit exactly what we were hoping for. The planning process felt collaborative and stress-free.
Once on safari, we were in the very capable hands of our guide and driver, Boniface. He was knowledgeable, warm, and truly exceptional at spotting wildlife. We honestly don’t know how he saw half of what he did! He went the extra mile — literally — to help us track down the Big Five, and his determination and expertise made all the difference. Because we were on a private safari, he was also incredibly flexible and happy to adjust plans based on our interests and requests, which made the experience feel personal and unhurried.
We also felt that the value was outstanding. Before booking, I received a quote from a “luxury” safari company that was nearly twice the price — and interestingly, it included two of the same four lodges that were on our Blue Lilac itinerary. That really put things into perspective. We felt we received an exceptional, high-quality experience without paying an inflated premium simply for a label.
This trip was unforgettable, and so much of that is thanks to the team at Blue Lilac Tours. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a well-organized, customized, and truly special safari experience.

Trustworthy and went the extra mile
It is so difficult to know where to start when choosing a safari company. I initially contacted the Kenyan Tourist bureau who provided details from 3 operators. Edna at Blue Lilac immediately stood out. She responded to questions quickly, made suggestions and wasn't pushy. I felt comfortable dealing with her. We booked a 2 night safari in Taita Hills and Tsavo East. Our driver and guide was knowledgeable and good company. Though we only booked the safari and transfers through Edna she gave invaluable advice when our flights were changed. I highly recommend her and would use her again should we return.

Great Service and an Unforgettable Kenya Trip
Booking our safari with Blue Lilac was an excellent decision. It was important to us to work with a local, Kenya-based agency, and from the first contact we felt genuinely taken care of. We had a very specific route in mind for our eight-day trip to Kenya in November, and our travel consultant, Faith, found a way to include all our wishes while remaining flexible with any adjustments we requested.
Before, during, and after our safari, Blue Lilac was always available and made sure everything ran smoothly. The safari itself exceeded our expectations—thanks to the great company of our driver-guide Timan, unforgettable game drives, and magical moments like spotting giraffes with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background.
Overall, our trip with Blue Lilac offered great value and was an experience we can wholeheartedly recommend.
Wonderful, Ethical Company
Blue Lilac is amazing. They built a custom trip for me based on my goals. I visited national parks in Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda and saw wildlife closer than I ever imagined, to include the Big 5 and mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. The guides were wonderful, the hotels were fantastic, and the food was delicious. My entire trip was seamless, which is incredible given that I chose overland travel and they coordinated across countries with different languages and customs. This trip far exceeded my expectations. Thank you very much to Edna and her team for a dream come true trip that I will never forget.

I started planning my dream trip to Africa a year ago and was so confused by all the different things to do and places to see and how to coordinate it all. A friend got me in contact with Blue Lilac in February, and having never worked with a tour company before I thought that it would probably be too much and not worth…I was way wrong! I did a side by side analysis of their quote and what it would take to do things myself (but obviously not as good or thorough as I don’t have their knowledge). And and it was almost the same price for me to do it that way. So point for them…they keep it affordable. Next they really worked one on one with me to make the trip what I really wanted and dreamed about. Another point for them….easy to work with. Next I always had A LOT of questions as I was preparing for this trip. Edna at Blue Lilac was always quick to reply, and so helpful. She was even able to help when I was nervous that my Tanzania visa wasn’t going to come in time. Two more points for over the top help! Packing lists, lists of things to prepare, you name it, they helped out. Next came the trip itself. Blue lilac put together my dream vacation and the transfers, guides, accommodations, EVERYTHING exceeded our expectations. Our family consists of me, my husband and 3 kids ages 10,13 and 15. They planned the perfect trip the kept every one of us engaged and happy. 5 points for them. The friendly service and personal touches have won us over and made us feel like friends and family. Very warm and welcoming and very insight sharing during the entire safari.
I very much enjoyed our safari to the Nairobi national park. The tour guide took us to all the spots where we could spot wildlife and was always sharing insights on the wildlife- I left the safari more relaxed and more knowledgeable.

Magical experience in the heart of Nairobi’s National Park
I did a morning safari with Blue Lilac Tours and it was one of the highlights of my trip to Kenya. Edna, the coordinator, was incredibly responsive and helped us plan everything around our afternoon flight, timing was spot on. Our guide, Teddy, made the experience unforgettable. He was kind, knowledgeable, and clearly loves what he does.
We were lucky to see three of the Big Five (rhino, buffalo, and lion), and many more, and watching such incredible wildlife just meters away from us, so close, was something magical I’ll never forget. The contrast of nature and city skyline also made the safari even more surreal.
After the safari, we also visited the Giraffe Center, which was the perfect way to end the experience, getting up close and feeding the Rothschild giraffes was both exciting and touching. They are adorable!
The whole experience was smooth, exciting, and thoughtfully organized. I’d absolutely recommend Blue Lilac to anyone visiting Nairobi.
