No value for money, Disappointing Safari Experience
I recently went on a safari with Toto Tembo Safaris Kenya, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. We paid $360 per person, which included a $200 park entry fee for full-day access to the Maasai Mara. However, our actual game drive lasted only from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM — just about 2.5 hours.
As a result, we saw very few animals and only 2 out of the Big Five. I had previously discussed a plan to start around 2:30 or 3:00 PM, but we didn’t depart until 4:30 PM, which was far too late to make the most of the park experience.
It would have made much more sense if Toto Tembo had:
Picked us up the previous evening and arranged morning and evening game drives, or
Scheduled a full-day drive so we could explore the park properly and return to Nairobi later.
Instead, we spent nearly 7 hours traveling each way, with only 2.5 hours of actual safari time. Moreover, our guide seemed unmotivated and offered minimal explanations, mostly just naming the animals we saw.
Considering that the $200 park entry fee only provided a quarter of the expected experience, I believe a partial refund or some form of concession would be fair.
I hope Toto Tembo Safaris Kenya takes this feedback seriously and improves the planning and execution of future safaris.

We would like to clarify that the park entry fee of $200 per person is set and collected by the government, and it applies regardless of the length of time spent inside the Maasai Mara. Unfortunately, this fee is beyond our control.
In our earlier communication, we had advised that a minimum of two nights in the Mara is recommended. This allows guests to enjoy both morning and evening game drives, maximizing the chances of seeing the Big Five and experiencing the park fully. A one‑night trip, especially with long travel times from Nairobi, can feel rushed and limit the time available for game viewing.
We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we will take your comments into account to improve our planning and communication with future guests. Your feedback is important to us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again for a longer safari that truly showcases the beauty of the Maasai Mara.

Reliable and service oriented travel partner
I booked two safari tours with Toto Tembo. During the first tour to Masai Mara-Naivasha-Nakuru some issues appeared (seating, vehicle, the guide, the meals). It felt unpleasant and I reached out to my contact persons Emmilia and Esther about the issues.
They are very committed, professional, friendly and 100% available for occurring questions even during the game drives with directly tackling issues I pointed out.
So you don't have to wait long for support which I think is very important when you're traveling in a foreign country and be on safari.
Special requests like my meal preferences, as I'm vegetarian, have been taken seriously and been tried to execute as best as possible.
For the second tour to Amboseli, Toto Tembo made up for the previous inconveniences I faced during the first tour. I saw many animals, also the big 5, and experienced many different landscapes and facets of Kenya.
Some facts in short that I found important during my travel:
Vehicle provided: modern, very clean, comfy and well equipped (chargers, box for water). I want to point out that the safety belts were working properly which isn't granted with every vehicle in Kenya or safari agency!
My guide: friendly and calm guy, good and safe driver, very knowledgeable during the safaris. I loved his company and infos during our trip. Very much appreciated Lenards calm warm personality!
The schedule: Pick up was always punctual, so no long waiting but the schedule is very tight. Safari means you be in the vehicle long hours, roads can be rough and very bumpy, getting up early and being in bed late.
You should plan your game drives and days to stay at a certain lodge or camp accordingly or ask for advice from Toto Tembo to get the best experience based on your own energy levels and preference. This will shape the whole safari experience so you want to think about that and not just about how many game drives you can fit in one day. -Trust me!
Accommodation:
Check the accommodation yourself in advance so you can tell Toto Tembo where you like to be booked in. I personally think Sopa Lodges deliver a very good experience and I especially loved the variety and high quality food + they have nice pools and big inside fire places. The lodge itself to me would be worth a one day stay to just relax and enjoy nature, the views and the many amenities.

I really appreciate that they are so serious about delivering a pleasant and high quality experience and also take accountability when things go wrong. Because of this I always would recommend and book with them again. I made the experience that they are a trustworthy and professional travel partner.

Very accommodating and easy to get in contact with.
My friend and I booked with Toto Tembo and even tho we had many delays and problems with our flights they still made sure we were able to get as much of the tour done in the short time we had. They were extremely easy to communicate with and did everything they could so that we could get the best experience possible. They are so friendly and helped us with everything we needed and checked up on us during our safari to make sure everything was okay. The driver was incredible and made sure we saw as many animals as possible. We were extremely happy with them.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Mombasa Beach Getaway!
Our group of women recently enjoyed an amazing 4-day, 4-night holiday at Bamburi Beach, Mombasa, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
From the very beginning in Nairobi, everything was exceptionally well organized by Esther and Emilia. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and constant communication ensured that our trip was smooth, comfortable, and stress-free.

Reliable excellent service
I got Toto Tembo contact from my friend who went for the Masai Mara safari with Toto Tembo last year. I trusted my friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed. We had a great time and amazing experience in experiencing wild life. I would highly recommend Toto Tembo.
Our contract person was Esther. Most of the communications were on WhatsApp and she was highly responsive. We had many questions along the way, but Esther was patient in replying everything.
Esther suggested some initial itinerary and we exchanged ideas and indicated our preference. Esther was flexible and adjusted the itinerary multiple times before finalising what we wanted. Last minute we had to change our flights due to West Asia uncertainty, and Esther helped to book hotels etc before the trip as some of our friends arrived Nairobi early.
We covered both Masai Mara and Serengeti. Dennis was our guide at Masai Mara. He is the best. Friendly and highly knowledgeable about wild life. Please ask for Dennis, if he is available. We experienced lion attacking wildebeest, cheetah hunting, wildebeests crossing river and many other actions.
Overall we had an amazing experience with Toto Tembo safari.

Amazing Safaris Experience!
We had an amazing time with Toto Tembo Safaris, and a big part of that was Esther. She was very responsive throughout the planning process, always quick to reply, and added lovely personal touches that made the trip feel truly tailored to us.
Everything ran smoothly, communication was clear, and our time across Kenya and Tanzania was unforgettable, especially the Maasai Mara National Park. A special mention to our guide and driver, Denis, whose passion for game driving really showed. He anticipated the animals' movements so well that we got to witness a cheetah hunt and kill a Thomson's gazelle, a moment we won't forget. The hot air balloon ride over the Mara at sunrise was also a highlight, an incredible way to see the plains from above. For what we paid, the value was excellent too.
We'd happily recommend Toto Tembo Safaris to anyone planning a trip to Kenya and Tanzania.
