We had the pleasure of recently spending 6 days with Baltazary while we were in Arusha, Tanzania. He gave us such a strong understanding of his own hometown that we look forward to returning for another longer visit within the next couple of years. He asked about us, our interests, experiences and limitations, and then proceeded to give us a wonderful experience of Arusha and her environs. Highlights of our time together include a once-in-a-lifetime time at the Serval wild animal conservation center, where we interacted with giraffe, zebra, antelope and even a white lioness; an afternoon wander through the local farmer's market which was so much more than just food; the incomparable Cultural Center (where one could happily wander for a full day!); and the Shanga workshop of many kinds of local arts and crafts. The best of all were the many conversations we had about how Life in Tanzania is, how the independent country has developed into such an interesting and great place to visit, and how the many tribes and cultures have been able to live harmoniously for so long. Our "City Safari" was an invaluable introduction to this lovely and welcoming country, and we most highly recommend Serengeti Captain Tours and Safaris. The long animal safaris are not to be missed, but don't cheat yourself out of time well-spent in the Arusha area when you first arrive, exhausted and jet-lagged. Book this or an oceanside getaway along with the wild animal safari, you will be so glad you did.

Our vehicle was pristine, always on time and very comfortable, with plenty of water available anytime. You might want to bring along small gifts for the wonderful people you will encounter along the way, from housekeepers at your accommodations to a young person working in a gallery, or kids you meet in the market. Pencils, small books, zippered pouches, even serviceable clean summer clothes of any type will be very much appreciated as something from a grateful visitor from afar.
