The worst experience of our lifes
1/5

I’m writing this coment from Nairobi airport still shaking. Today me and 4 friends were coming back from Masai Mara area to Nairobi to have dinner and then take our flight home. We were in a van of the company “Africa Home Adventure”.
During the way it started to rain and the traffic became very slow. After a couple of minutes, when we were next to the Riff Valley our driver decided to overtake some cars so he moved to the other lane (uphill) but a truck was going downhill (in his lane). The lorry driver tried to stop, I even saw the smoke in the wheels but it was too late. It hit our van and we almost fall into the valley.
Fortunatelly, only one of my friends had some small cuts because of the window glass and I have a big swollen circle with a bruise on my leg starting to show.
The driver stopped another tourist van that offered to take us to the Tour company office. It was raining and the traffic became cahotic so honestly we just wanted to go away.
Around 300m later there was another accident. A big lorry fell into the valley and we believe that accident was due to ours, because after our crush the traffic stopped moving.
Finally this driver that helped us called our company and we met one member of the staff at the center where he was waiting us with a different car (a small one) and driver. He smiled the whole time, saying that it wasn’t a big deal and that it was the lorry’s driver fault. We couldn’t believe it. We all are drivers and we saw perfectly what happened. He just said “ok I’m sorry you can go to the airport if you want with him”, pointed out to the new driver.
We are ok but still in shock. I’m sorry for such a long text but I just want to let you know that if you are looking for a Tour company in Kenya NEVER choose “African Home Adventure”. In addition they charged me 23$ more when I payed the due balance at their office, saying that it’s because their rate change is different (apart from the 6% charge for paying by card, which I find it normal). When I tried to explain them that my card (Revolut) make the payment according to the exchange rate of the day they refused, I didn’t want to start our tour arguing so we didn’t reply and we payed.
By the way, I’ve seen they have great coments from a man called Abednegoh, he works for them. He was the one who was laughing while we were telling him that we almost die, and the one who texted me through WhatsApp a few days prior my trip which present I would bring him from my country.
There are hundreds of good and reliable safari and tours companies in Kenya but this one is not one of them.

Terrible experience
1/5

- Terrible experience, from the beginning to the very end.
- Terrible attitude from the staff asking for ‘goods and gifts’ before our arrival.
- Several problems with the payment and more than 50$ charge for paying with card.
- Real disgusting responses by “the boss”.
- Terrible car conditions and driving manners. We had a serious accident with a truck caused by our driver, when we asked the company for the insurance they ignore us and, literally, laughed at us.
- Do you really need more reasons to ignore this company? Make yourself a favour and avoid them.

Excellent, professional and friendly operator who provided us with the journey of a life time
5/5

Thanks to Albert at Africa Home Adventure, who organised for us a tailored-made safari based on our interests, itinerary and time constraints.

From Nairobi to the shores of Lake Victoria and back, we have visited 8 different parks (in Kenya and in Tanzania) both offering exceptional and memorable viewing experiences, thanks to our wonderful driver, guide and living encyclopedia, Thomas.

We have seen and experience so much throughout this safari that our memory will forever cherish this exceptional journey.

Exhilarating experience!
5/5

After some online research, got in touch with Albert who planned our whole trip (Nairobi- Masai Mara- Diani beach) without any sweat. Right from arrival at Nairobi airport to our last drop at the hotel, Albert and his team made sure we never faced any difficulties. The stay at the Camp near Masai Mara and the beach resort at Diani were equally amazing.
Very professional!

Special mention to our Safari guide George Otieno for taking care of us during the ‘bumpy’ safari drives mornings and afternoon. The best experience was of course watching the Big 5 up-close and the wildebeest migration. George knows his way around the park and made sure we didn’t miss any sightings.

We were a family of 5 people and booked 3 days Mara safari with African Home Adventure Safaris with accommodation at their up graded tented camp. There is no other way i can thank Bryan who was very reliable and quick in responding to our emails and that gave us a good feeling of the company. The entire safari was smooth and easy. Our driver David was able to answer all our questions. Accommodation was superb with hot showers, flushing toilet and 24 hour electricity. It was an amazing experience and i would confidently recommend this company.

An outstanding service
5/5

This was not my first safari with African Home Adventure safaris. I was in Kenya two years ago and did a safari with them. The driver guide George was great, photography was the main factor and that's why I always use African Home Adventure safaris and George. Everything worked well and will always use this company.

Very informative and knowledgeable about the animals habitat

After internet scans of traveling urgency to facilitate the process of viewing wilderbeest migration of every start of July and September events every year. Most East Africa travelers recommended the
highly reputable and holiday marker African Home Adventure Safaris company. My email inquiry for August 2020 visit was responded to by a polished customer service manager Mr Albert who briefed me about other amenities like accommodation and meals. My family of 5 including my spouse and 3 children were booked for 3 days in magnificent tented camp accommodations facilities erected by African Home Adventure Safaris inside Maasai mara national park with excellent views of the park.

The day of wonder migration of the wilderbeest came and my family got chance to briefed by the African Home Adventure Safaris (AHAS) driver come tour guide... He gave us chronological sequence of events... Which commenced immediately after the wilderbeest bearing their young one in early month of August and end of September, the more than 1.5 millions of wilderbeest animals would start moving from the Kenyans side of Maasai mara natural areas toward north-west towards the central Serengeti National Park in Tanzania for the fresher-greener grass drawing with them thousands of Zebra and smaller groups of antelope.
The wildlife tour expert went ahead to explain to us that the ever-moving columns of wildebeest joined by a host of companions animals, follow an age-old route in search of grazing pasture and water flow. The journey takes them across the plains of the Maasai mara in Kenya at edge where we were standing, all the way south into Tanzania, through the Serengeti to the edge of the Ngorongoro crater, before circling up and around in a clockwise direction. Finally the AHAS tour expert concluded the excitement forage story by explaining that a long the way, high drama is always present, as thousands of animals are taken by predators, and thousands more are born, replenishing the numbers and sustaining the circle of life.
We ended the exhilarating sojourner by enjoying sumptuous meals of game meals of nyama choma at the African Home Adventure Safaris Restaurant and resort.... And my all my family members are very excited about this exciting experience with wildlife and we committed to be regular visitors to the place every August month of the year for the wonderful event..

Custom Tour of Masai Mara and Amboseli with George Otieno!
5/5

It was one of those things.. we thought “wouldn’t it be amazing if...” and suddenly it was happening. We had 6 days in total to go somewhere, we just didn’t realise it was going to be Kenya! I had been searching the internet for ideas but only came across the usual city breaks or beach holidays and then I remembered seeing some beautiful pictures on a friend’s Facebook page, of his recent trip to Kenya. Nigel B was very kind to share his research with us and answer all our queries and even put us I touch with his highly recommended tour guides from ‘Africa Home Adventures’.

Arranging the tour:
Mr Albert Ouko was the Senior Tour Advisor and our main contact. We told Albert we we thinking of about the trip and he helped us make it a reality. It was important to let him know how many full days we could be there for and our potential flight details. He worked out a bespoke tour considering our requests, and preferences. He was even available on WhatsApp for queries and responded extremely promptly. When we requested, he also provided us with weblinks to photos and details of the accommodation so that we had an idea before we booked and arrived at the tented camps. Albert is very patient and works hard to ensure his guests have the best trip possible.

He also arranged for us to be picked up directly from the airport and greeted us with a pleasant welcome despite having to wait over four hours after a delay to our scheduled flight. Our experience with Albert set the tone for the rest of the trip and made us feel very comfortable and welcome.

The ‘Driver Guide’:
Your guide can make or break your experience and ours certainly made our trip, one we will never forget. We actually miss George now having spent just 5 days with him. George is a man of countless stories and invaluable experience from over 15 years in the field. He too waited patiently with Albert for over 4 hours in the early cold hours of the morning we were arriving. Over the next 5 days George was our driver, tour guide, friend and go to person for anything we needed. He’s done this so long, he sorted everything. He explained everything at every step of the way, forewarned us of what to expect, and drove extremely well and safely - we slept like babies on the long drive between locations. He has an incredibly friendly nature and is extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, the national parks and game reserves. At one of the accommodation sites that appeared like it might be too busy, given his experience George sensed the need to act quickly and made sure we were looked after and had the best cottage available. Sections of the route to both Masai Mara as well as Amboseli are dirt tracks and get very dusty which aggravated a cough I had. George and Albert were thoughtful and caring to remind me to buy cough syrup to help.

The drive to Amboseli directly from Masai Mara is a very long journey but George handled it like a pro, took regular breaks and drove very safely. We enjoyed our chats along the way and will take back many memories of a laughter filled road trip.

My friend Nigel recommended George, and I would highly recommend him again. You spend no less than 15 hours a day together and we could not have had a better companion on this trip.

Masai Mara and Amboseli:
We found our that this was an unusual combination we had chosen for our Safari, as due to the long journey, people often make a stopover in between. Ours was direct from the Mara to Amboseli and if you’re thinking about doing just these two locations, it’s worth knowing it takes a whole day to drive from one to the other. We were made to feel very comfortable, but it will be a tiring drive for your guide - having said that, it’s certainly doable and indeed George informed us that we were not the first. Despite the long journey, George had an incredibly jovial demeanour.

Of the many parks you could visit I would highly recommend visiting Amboseli - it’s smaller than Masai Mara but by no means ‘small’ and a whole different landscape and ecosystem.

Both Masai Mara and Amboseli were truly amazing and we were sad to leave when our days were up.

The staff at both locations; Jacob, Janet, Jonathan, Paul - made us feel very welcome and comfortable.

We rate our experience with Africa Home Adventures, Albert and George as excellent and would highly recommend them for anyone interested.
