We booked a three day safari to Ngorogoro, Terengine and Lake Manyare, and had the time of our life. First of all we were picked up on time from our hotel, had flight tickets already booked for us and a great driver (Laurian) waiting for us at Arusha Airport. We had three days of an unforgettable experience, slept in a good hotel, had good food and lunch on the sites prepared and we got lots of interesting background information from the driver. Besides that, the atmosphere was relaxed and with humor. The way back to our hotel in Zanzibar was all perfectly well arranged as well. He was incredibly enthusiastic every day and took us to see all five of the Big Five, along with many unique experiences, such as a pride of lions on rocks in the rain. A dream I had once given up on. To alleviate my anxiety, I decided to take the opposite route instead of the usual one, and as a result, I encountered a herd of silverbacks in just 30 minutes under clear skies!
And when the silverbacks suddenly came toward me, I was filled with joy and happiness that surpassed my fear.
2. A phantom leopard I had never seen before was right in front of me.
Riding with a ranger, I received quiet yet tense orders to move other vehicles out of the way. Only the lead vehicle was allowed to watch a leopard emerge from the bush right in front of us, walking and climbing a tree. After the other six vehicles had left, we had lunch in the car, making eye contact with the leopard.
Afterwards, we spent some relaxing time with two tree-climbing lions.
