Rubondo Island National Park can be visited throughout the year. However, the best time is from June to September, when it is mostly sunny and dry. During the Wet season (November to May) forest paths can become slippery, which makes chimp trekking more challenging. January to February is a dry spell in the Wet season, and this is a great time for birding and spotting butterflies. National park accommodation is available throughout the year, but the only private lodge is closed from April to May.
