Wow, so many elephants, this is truly prime elephant country, especially when you look at the horizon and see a herd of over two hundred elephants in the distance! We also saw two leopards, one with a kill in a tree, and our camp (Taragire Safari Lodge) is totally unfenced so lots of gazelles wandering around. However the landscape was a bit dry and not that pretty, and maybe because it was at the end of our safari but we didn't see many "new" animals except for dik dik of which there were quite a few. However it's a great park and probably best visited at the start of a safari, not the end.

Tarangire was not as picturesque as perhaps Ngorongoro Crater or Serengeti, but still had an abundance of animal life and more birds than the others.

Vast, better for less known animals as well as the main ones.

We spent two days in Tarangire National park searching for the famous tree lions. We didn't spot any lions in tree's but did see a Male Lion mating a number of times. We also got up close and personal with a lot of Elephants including viewing baby elephants. The two camps we stayed at in Tarangire where also a highlight. Both luxury tented campsites which really gave you the impression of being out in the wilderness amongst the animals. Would highly recommend the Kikoti Safari Camp.
