Most itineraries give Tarangire a single day. This one stays for two nights inside the park, enough time to follow the elephant herds along the river properly, and to add two rare activities: a walking safari and a night game drive. The park holds Tanzania's second-largest elephant population, over 400 recorded bird species, and a landscape of ancient baobabs. Tarangire sits close to both Arusha and Kilimanjaro Airport, making it a natural extension before or after a Kilimanjaro climb.
