Mt Meru, the 2nd-highest peak in Tanzania, towering at 4566 meters above sea level within Arusha National Park, offers a singular route to its summit, typically tackled over a span of 3 days. Many climbers utilise Meru as a preliminary acclimatisation step before ascending Kilimanjaro. Unlike Kilimanjaro, however, climbers on Mt Meru must be accompanied by armed rangers. As you ascend, you'll relish a walking safari, encountering African buffaloes, zebras, and Colobus monkeys along the way.
