The route approaches Kilimanjaro from the west, starting with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there we trek through the rainforest to Shira Ridge for the first two days. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame trail near Lava Tower. Next, the route continues under Kilimanjaro's southern ice field on a trail known as the Southern Circuit before reaching the summit of Barafu. Descent is via the Mweka route.
