The Shoebill stork, is the star attraction at Mabamba Swamp. But with over 300 bird species like Papyrus Gonolek, Swamp Flycatcher, Lesser Jacana, Purple Swamphen and African Pygmy Goose, it's a paradise for birders! Shoebills are shy and elusive, but Mabamba Swamp is one of the best places in Africa to see them. These endangered birds are found in only a few parts of East Africa, and Mabamba's healthy lungfish population, a favorite Shoebill food source, makes it a prime habitat.
