The itinerary opens on foot – a walking safari in Arusha National Park, where zebra, buffalo and giraffe move through the woodland at close range. From there, two days take you south and west: Tarangire, where elephant herds congregate along the river beneath centuries-old baobabs, and the Ngorongoro Crater, where a permanent population of lion, elephant, buffalo and black rhino lives within the walls of a single ancient caldera.
