Huge, enormous park (2/3th of Belgium !), so it has everything - but know where to go, or you might drive for hours without seeing a lot.

Tsavo, east and west, is an exraordinary destination that is reasonably accessable to the normal tourist. It is really two parks in one, as it is split by the Niarobi to Mombasa road. What is the first thing that is striking is the deep rich colour of the ground, almost red. Then it's the animals. You'll be guarenteed to see zebra and giraffe. Almost certain to lions and elephants. The two places that I really would recommend are Voi lodge and Kilaguni lodge as places to visit and stay overnight. And that's all I'm gonna say as I wouldn't want to spoil 'em for anybody!

We went to Tsavo in 2009 as part of a trip to Kenya. We stayed in the Ngulia lodge and the Voi safari lodge. Both were excellent locations, very comfortable with stunning views. At the Ngulia after enjoying cocktails whilst watching the sunset from your balcony you can then can share supper with a leopard who comes every night to eat the meat put out on a tree for it, just yards from your dining table - absolutely wonderful. At the Voi there is a wonderful watering hole where we watched buffalo and a Mother elephant and its baby come and drink whilst enjoying panoramic views across the Savanna. All this and the cutest little rock hyrax you have ever seen. We spent 2 days driving through East and West Tsavo with an expert guide and driver and saw the Big 5 as well as Zebras, Giraffe, wallowing hippos we watched a pride of lions at a drinking at dawn and much much more, highly recommended. Our driver and guide were knowledgeable and informative and above all friendly.

Very accesible, close to coast tourist city Malindi. Good for 1 or 2 days of safari. My First safari

It´s been my first safari in Africa. After 2 days (24 hours into the park) I was a bit upset, because we´ve seen lions and cheetah so far, and no leopards, but, and this is very good point, I learned that luck is very important in a safari. Some friends we´re there same days and they had seen these animals very close.
Lots of elephants and anthilops, jirafes, zebras, baboons, hipos, big eagles...
We were travelled from Malindi directly in a big Land Cruiser 4wd to 8 people, just my wife and me, with the guide and the driver, and we got a good price.
We stayed in a lodge a little bit elevated on a hill, with 2 water holes. At night I experienced the visit of lions, water buffalos, more elephants... from a bunker that lets you watch them very close. Very nice view of landscape at sunrise and sunset.

The landscape is filled with bushes and trees, which makes the sight bad.

We really appreciate our two days safari: watching all the wild animals into their habitat is an experience that changes your life. Jeff, our guide, just took us at the right place at the right moment: in fact we had the chance to watch 4 lions hunting a giraffe, and this is not something you'll often see in your life. By the way, the giraffe has been fast enough to escape...We would come back tomorow just to do this safari again

In Tsavo East I would highly recommend the crossing the park. Make sure to visit the 'Crocodile Point' and watch the sun set as you drive away, back to the tents of the 'Satao tent camp'. Spending the night there is just amazing, especially since you are allowed to spend the night besides a campfire, waiting for animals (such as lions) to visit the puddle next to the camp. Bring a long-range camera lens, to catch all the beautiful birds that I'm sure will make you wonder where they all come from and why you never made a visit before...
