This park doesn't have the wild vibe as ones in the north, but there isn't much around this southern part of SA, therefore good for the region.

Addo National Park is close to the idea than European are looking for in an African National Park: vast, diverse, beautiful. Enjoying with a semi-wild group of elephants in front of you is a great experience

Nice destination - you will see Elephants galore - not a great variety of other animals - accommodation is good but can become crowded with day visitors

Since the recent expansion of this park it has gained many additional attractions as far as bird and animal life is concerned. The possibilities of seeing whales is one of these attractions

The Most Diverse National Park in South Africa

Addo is a triumph of conservation. Elephants were nearly exterminated in the early 1900's, with only 11 remaining when the area was preserved as a National Park. 80 years later, we saw elephants in abundance. South Africa is working to establish one mega park, extending a wildlife corridor from Volkert's River to the ocean. Thus, the photographic opportunities are fabulous, due to the diversity of landscape. In one sublime safari, you can experience grasslands, mountains and ocean. We drive a Land Rover Defender on our safari, but the park could easily be traversed in a salon car.

I enjoyed my day trip to Addo, as it offered great views of a variety of beautiful animals. The only downside was that the scenic roads were quite clogged with cars.
