Covering roughly 11 kilometers, the trail ascends gently, helping you acclimatize as you make your way to Machame Camp, situated at an elevation of about 3,000 meters.

Day 2
Machame Camp to Shira Camp

After a hearty breakfast, the climb continues as you leave the rainforest behind and enter the vast moorland zone. Today’s trek covers roughly 5 kilometers, leading you to Shira Camp—set at an altitude of about 3,800 meters—where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding terrain.

Today’s trek combines both challenge and breathtaking scenery. You’ll climb to Lava Tower, reaching an altitude of about 4,600 meters—an essential step for acclimatization. From there, the trail descends to Barranco Camp at approximately 3,960 meters, covering a total distance of around 10 kilometers.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Your adventure continues with the exciting ascent of the Barranco Wall—one of the most thrilling sections of the Machame Route. After conquering this iconic climb, you’ll proceed to Karanga Camp, situated at around 4,035 meters. The day’s trek covers approximately 6 kilometers.

Day 5
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Today’s trek is relatively short, covering about 4 kilometers as you ascend to Barafu Camp. Located at an altitude of around 4,600 meters, this high-altitude camp serves as your final base before the summit push. The terrain grows more rugged and alpine, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
Day 6
Summit – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and back to Mweka Camp
Summit – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and back to Mweka Camp
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of your trek. The summit attempt begins in the early hours, with a steep ascent to Uhuru Peak—Africa’s highest point—just in time for a breathtaking sunrise. After celebrating your accomplishment, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp, located at around 3,100 meters. It’s a long and demanding day, covering approximately 18 kilometers.

Day 7
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Upon reaching the gate, you’ll receive your well-earned summit certificate and bid farewell to your incredible team of guides and porters.
