Day 1

Addis Ababa - Jinka

Addis Ababa - Jinka

After breakfast, take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Jinka. Upon arrival, you’ll be picked up by car and transferred to your hotel for check-in before continuing your tour. Begin with a visit to the Ari people, whose lifestyle and dress differ from other Omo Valley groups. The Ari live in the highlands surrounding Jinka, and you’ll enjoy a walk through their villages to observe daily activities. Visit local homes to see traditional practices such as preparing Ethiopia’s famous local food, injera, and learn about metalwork and other handicrafts unique to the community. After the village visit, return to Jinka for a tour of a local museum, which offers valuable insight into the region’s diverse culture. Later, take a short walk around Jinka town before returning to the hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2

Jinka - Turmi

Jinka - Turmi

Early in the morning, visit with the Mursi people, who are known for their women who wear distinctive lip plates. The Mursi are nomadic people who move from place to place with their cattle. After visiting with the Mursi, continue your journey to Turmi. Along the way, stop at Alduba Market, one of the vibrant weekly markets in the Omo Valley, where different groups gather for trade and social interaction. Afterward, proceed to Turmi for check in at your lodge. In the late afternoon, visit one of the largest villages of the Hamar people, known for their warm hospitality and vibrant culture. Your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 3

After breakfast, drive from Turmi to visit the Nyangatom people, located near the South Sudan border. You will cross the Omo River on the region’s largest bridge to reach their villages. The Nyangatom are distinct from other groups, easily recognized by their colorful beaded necklaces and unique clothing styles. In the afternoon, continue your journey to the Kenyan border to visit the Dassanech people. Here, you will learn about their semi-nomadic lifestyle, which combines hunting and farming, and explore their uniquely constructed villages. The Dassanech are known for their elaborate hairstyles and traditional dances, which you may have the chance to witness. You will also cross the Omo River by local canoe for a memorable experience before walking to the village. After the visit, return to Turmi for dinner and your overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4

Turmi - Konso

Turmi - Konso

After breakfast, you’ll drive from Turmi to Konso. On the way, stop at the Keyafer Tribal Market, one of the most colorful and vibrant markets in the area. Here, different groups gather to trade goods, socialize, and celebrate, giving you a unique opportunity to witness local life and possibly observe traditional ceremonies such as the bull-jumping ritual (if it takes place that day). After exploring the market, continue your drive to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, visit the Konso people, known for their remarkable terraced hillsides, intricate stone-walled villages, and wooden totems. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 5

Konso - Arba Minch

Konso - Arba Minch

Today you will transfer from Konso to to Arba Minch. Upon arrival, enjoy a scenic boat ride on Lake Chamo, Ethiopia’s second-largest lake. Here, you’ll have the chance to spot some of the country’s largest crocodiles, pods of hippos, playful monkeys, and a variety of beautiful bird species. After the boat trip, continue your journey up into the mountains to Chencha to visit the Dorze people. The Dorze are known for their unique weaving traditions, reflected in their colorful cotton clothing, intricately designed fences, and beehive-shaped bamboo huts. During the visit, you’ll learn about their daily life, explore their homes, and see how they produce food and local alcohol from the famous banana trees. In the evening, enjoy your last night in the Omo Valley with a special campfire celebration featuring traditional dance performances. Your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

After breakfast, you will drive to Arba Minch Airport and take a morning flight to Addis Ababa around 10:00 a.m. Upon arrival, you’ll be picked up from the airport and driven to Merkato, one of the largest open-air markets in Africa. Spend time exploring the bustling market, observing the local lifestyle, and shopping for souvenirs. If you’d like to purchase Ethiopian coffee, your guide will take you to a special spot for authentic beans. This will conclude your tour.
