You will be picked up early in the morning from your hotel or guesthouse in Dar es Salaam and begin the scenic drive to Selous Game Reserve, which takes approximately 5–6 hours. Along the way, you’ll pass through small villages, sugarcane fields, and river plains, with a short break for tea or refreshments. Upon arrival at Selous, you will check into a budget-friendly lodge or tented camp and enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon boat safari on the Rufiji River. Here, you can spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and an array of birds, all set against the backdrop of a stunning sunset. The day ends with dinner at the lodge and relaxation in the peaceful wilderness.

Day 2
Full Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve
Full Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve
After an early breakfast, you will set out on a full morning game drive through the open savannah and riverine forests of Selous. This is a great chance to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and, if lucky, lions or leopards. The morning safari is filled with the sounds of nature, birds, and rustling wildlife. After returning to camp for lunch and a short rest, you can optionally take a guided walking safari around the camp to learn about animal tracks, local plants, and conservation efforts. In the late afternoon, another game drive lets you enjoy the sunset over the savannah, followed by dinner at the lodge and perhaps a campfire gathering before retiring for the night.

Day 3

After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and drive to Mikumi National Park, which takes about 4–5 hours. Along the way, enjoy the changing landscapes, small towns, and countryside scenery. Upon arrival, you will check into a budget lodge or camp and enjoy lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive. Mikumi is often called a “mini-Serengeti,” and during the drive, you may see lions, elephants, zebras, impalas, waterbucks, and other wildlife in their natural habitats. After the drive, return to the lodge to relax, enjoy dinner, and admire the clear night sky that stretches over the park’s remote wilderness.

You will have the option of an early morning game drive to see wildlife that is most active at sunrise, followed by breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, begin the drive back to Dar es Salaam, which takes around 4–5 hours, stopping along the way for refreshments if needed. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped off at your hotel, guesthouse, or the airport, concluding your budget-friendly 4-day safari filled with unforgettable wildlife experiences and scenic landscapes.
