Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s best birding destinations with over 500 bird species recorded. Explore the park’s diverse habitats—from baobab-dotted woodlands to riverine forests and open savannahs. Look out for yellow-collared lovebirds, white-bellied go-away birds, lilac-breasted rollers, and ostriches.

Enjoy a full day birdwatching in Tarangire. The park’s wetlands and the Silale Swamp attract numerous water-associated species, including African spoonbills, great white pelicans, open-billed storks, and hammerkops. Raptors such as martial eagles and bateleurs can also be spotted. Your guide will help identify both resident and migratory species.

Lake Natron

After an early breakfast, drive north toward Lake Natron, an alkaline lake set beneath the majestic Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. This is the primary breeding site for lesser flamingos in East Africa. Explore the lake’s edge and surrounding terrain in search of flamingos, chestnut-banded plovers, and other waders. In the afternoon, take a short walk to the Engare Sero waterfalls for more birding opportunities.

Depart early for Arusha National Park, a paradise for bird lovers boasting over 400 species. Enjoy both a game drive and a guided walking safari. The park’s Momella Lakes provide habitat for flamingos, herons, and ducks, while the montane forest is home to Hartlaub’s turaco, Narina trogon, and bar-tailed trogon.
