Today you will enjoy one of Zanzibar’s highlight attractions—a half-day Prison Island Tour from Stone Town. This excursion combines wildlife encounters with fascinating history and stunning scenery, with the main highlight being the chance to see the famous Aldabra Giant Tortoises. In the evening, visit the nearby Forodhani Gardens for an authentic local experience at its open-air food market. Stone Town, or Mji Mkongwe in Swahili, meaning “ancient town,” is the capital and cultural heart of Zanzibar, where little has changed in the last 200 years. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Learn traditional coconut fiber rope-making skills and explore seaweed farming, which employs over 15,000 locals—mainly women. Zanzibar produces around 11,000 tons of seaweed annually, much of it from Jambiani.

After breakfast, you will transfer to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport [ZNZ] for your flight to Arusha. Upon arrival at Arusha Airport [ARK], you’ll meet your guide and begin your safari to Lake Manyara National Park. Upon reaching the park, enjoy the Lake Manyara Treetop Walkway—a guided walk along 370 meters of suspension bridges, 18 meters above the ground, offering a unique birds-eye view of the surroundings while spotting butterflies, birds, and monkeys. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading to your camp to freshen up, savor sundowner cocktails by the campfire, and enjoy a star-lit dinner. Wake early for another dawn wildlife viewing experience, followed by a leisurely breakfast before checking out of the camp. Drive out of the park, enjoying wildlife sightings along the way, and stop for a delicious picnic lunch en route back to Arusha.
Optionally, at an extra cost, you can take a Tuk Tuk ride through Mto wa Mbu Village eat a local lunch. Time permitting, you can also visit the Shanga Foundation, a social enterprise employing people with disabilities to create unique handcrafted wares from recycled materials, and then continue to the nearby Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre, where the traditions of over 120 Tanzanian tribes are showcased through carvings, gemstones, artifacts, clothing, and books. The tour concludes with a drop-off at the airport.
