Day 1

Arusha to Manyara

Arusha to Manyara

Your safari adventure begins with a morning hotel pickup in Arusha, followed by a short briefing before setting off toward Lake Manyara National Park. Situated along the towering 600-meter-high Rift Valley escarpment, this compact yet remarkable park is centered around the shimmering alkaline Lake Manyara. Thousands of flamingos gather here, turning the shallow waters into a dazzling pink spectacle, while more than 400 bird species make the park a paradise for bird lovers. The diverse vegetation creates habitats for a wide range of wildlife: playful monkeys swing through the forest canopy, giraffes and antelopes graze across the open grasslands, and elephants wander gracefully beneath acacia trees. If flucky, the park may reveal its most famous residents tree-climbing lions, often seen lounging on branches. The blend of landscapes, birdlife, and animals makes Lake Manyara a truly captivating destination. In the late afternoon, you will drive to Karatu, where you will spend the night.

From Manyara - Wonders of Serengeti National park

After breakfast, you will journey toward the fertile crater highlands, where the people cultivate wheat, corn, and coffee. Passing the impressive Ngorongoro Crater, you will continue to the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s largest and most celebrated reserve, arriving around mid-morning. The Serengeti is renowned for its diverse habitats, ranging from endless short-grass plains and sweeping savannahs to dense bush, swamps, lakes, and rugged mountains. Across the grassy landscape, dramatic rock formations called kopjes rise, often providing shelter and vantage points for predators. Depending on the season, you may witness the park’s legendary migration, where thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move in search of fresh grazing. During the short rains of November and December, the herds travel south, while the longer rains from April to June drive them north again. This remarkable cycle depends entirely on rainfall, with herd locations shifting each year.
