Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), guests are warmly welcomed by the Big Time Adventures team and transferred to a comfortable hotel in Arusha. The scenic drive introduces northern Tanzania’s landscapes, passing rolling hills, coffee plantations, banana farms, and Maasai villages, with Mount Kilimanjaro often visible on clear days.

If time allows, enjoy a short guided walk through Arusha town, exploring local markets and craft shops while experiencing the lively atmosphere of Tanzania’s safari capital. In the evening, relax over dinner as your guide provides a safari briefing, covering the itinerary, wildlife highlights, and essential travel tips, ensuring you are fully prepared for the adventure ahead.

Day 2

After breakfast at your Arusha hotel, depart for Tarangire National Park, driving through scenic countryside dotted with farmlands, acacia plains, and Maasai villages. This journey offers a glimpse of rural Tanzanian life before entering one of the country’s most wildlife-rich parks. Upon arrival, enjoy an extensive game drive across Tarangire’s open savannas, riverbanks, and iconic baobab landscapes. The park is famous for its large elephant herds and is also home to lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, and abundant birdlife. Your professional Big Time Adventures guide will share insights into animal behavior, ecosystems, and conservation throughout the day. Lunch is enjoyed inside the park, surrounded by nature, before continuing with afternoon wildlife viewing. Later, depart for Karatu, where you check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight, resting in preparation for the next day’s adventure.

After breakfast in Karatu, guests drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, enjoying scenic views of highlands, villages, and the towering crater rim. Inside the crater, embark on a full-day game drive across grasslands, forests, and hippo-filled waterholes, with excellent chances of spotting the Big Five lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards along with zebras, wildebeests, and flamingos. After the game drive, visit a Maasai Village to learn about their traditions, crafts and lifestyle, with opportunities to participate in cultural activities. Optional activities or accommodation upgrades are available for an extra cost.
