Transfer from Arusha to South of Serengeti - Ndutu Area for Game viewing

Begin your day with an early breakfast before setting out on a thrilling wildlife game drive in the Southern Serengeti (Ndutu area) where the southern plains of the Serengeti meet the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to witness the spectacular wildebeest calving encounter.

The Ndutu calving season, a pinnacle of the Great Wildebeest Migration, typically takes place from late January to March. During this period, over 400,000 wildebeest calves are born, drawn to the lush, nutrient-rich grasses that flourish after the short rains. The Southern Serengeti and Ndutu transform into a vibrant nursery, where newborns are safeguarded—and hunted—amid the presence of predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Enjoy the game drive as you witness the wildlife drama. Retire the day at yiur lodge.

Day 3

Ndutu wildebeest Calving & Big 5 wildlife Encounter

Ndutu wildebeest Calving & Big 5 wildlife Encounter

After a hearty breakfast, you will head out to enjoy a full day’s game drive in Ndutu. You will explore the range of different habitats found here including swamps, woodland and savannah. With luck, you will see vast crowds of wildebeest, zebra and antelope, sometimes stretching to the horizon. The sound of the wildebeest gently mooing is hauntingly beautiful. During a short time frame (normally in February), many of the female wildebeest give birth to their young, dropping over half a million young in this incredible act of synchronized birthing. The grass provides little cover and the young are easy pickings for a variety of predators (cheetah, lion, hyena, and leopard). Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd.

Main Destination:
Southern Serengeti National Park
Best Time To Visit January to February and June to October (Different areas are best at different times)

Transfer from Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater rim

Transfer from Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater rim

After breakfast, get ready for a game drive through the Ndutu area hoping to see more predators and baby wildebeests as we head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, look out for giraffes as they make they way down the lush slopes. Our target is to go down the crater Rim before lunch time.

The Ngorongoro Crater created when a large volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself 2-3 million years ago and at first sight looks like a forgotten world, concealed by the steep volcanic walls is a pristine wilderness including sweeping savannah, pockets of acacia woodland and glistening lakes and swamps. The drive down into the Crater is an adventure in itself and when you reach the Crater floor. The Crater provides you with the best chance of seeing the endangered black rhino, which can sometimes be spotted in the open grasslands. After the Crater Rim exploration, we shall check out and head to Karatu for an overnight.
