Kick off the journey with an early morning departure from Nairobi, driving north through central Kenya’s scenic highlands and equatorial landscapes. Arrive in Samburu in time for lunch at Samburu Sopa Lodge, set on elevated ground with sweeping views of the rugged semi-arid terrain.

In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in Samburu National Reserve, a unique ecosystem known for rare wildlife species such as the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. The Ewaso Nyiro River attracts a high concentration of wildlife, making game viewing rewarding and dynamic.

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive south through Kenya’s fertile farmlands toward the Aberdare highlands. Arrive in the Aberdares region in time for lunch at the base hotel, then transfer by lodge vehicle to The Ark, a unique tree-top lodge overlooking a floodlit waterhole.

Spend the afternoon and evening observing wildlife from the lodge’s viewing decks and lounges as animals such as elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks, and leopards come to drink. This is a relaxed, immersive wildlife experience with no game drives—nature comes to you.

After breakfast and transfer back to the base hotel, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch at Nakuru Sopa Lodge. The lodge sits on a hilltop with panoramic views of the park and lake below.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru, famous for its flamingos (seasonal), large populations of rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, and tree-climbing lions. The park’s compact size allows for excellent game viewing in a short time.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
